Zen like Hotel
by Grenflower
This boutique hotel is on the medium small size and modest in design. They have a small workout facility, a really cozy lobby area adorned with dark wood touches and a little courtyard type area with a patio tables and a pond. The rooms are small, very clean, quiet, and dimly lit. The beds are so comfortable. I lyed down on my back and the next thing I knew it was the morning and I was still I the same position.
They have free parking and a complimentary shuttle that will take you place to place within a certain area, which is good if you don't have a vehicle as it's pretty close to the promenade. The only down thing to this is it took the shuttle guy forever to pick me up... a bit of a disappointment.
Anyhow, every morning, breakfast consisted of fresh squeezed juice, coffee, delicious pastries, toast and fabulous fresh mixed berry salads... so pampering and healthy!
- Pros: Really quiet and peaceful
- Cons: Rooms were a little small and the shuttle was a bit unreliable
Feng shui-inspired hotel combines upscale amenities with a health-and-wellness vibe.

The Scene
This Asian-accented 20th-century Craftsman building could pass for private apartments, as it seamlessly blends into a mostly residential block. Inside, an at-home ambiance encourages guests to lounge in airy common spaces. Dark-wood floors and furnishings are brightened by local artwork, green plants, plush sofas, a fireplace and inviting views of retreat-like gardens. A mirrored rec room is equipped with cardio machines, weights, a ballet barre and a fitness-video library.
The Details
The hotel's 77 guest rooms are appointed in warm shades of slate, tan and burgundy. Many have balconies, and rooms on the main level have oak hardwood floors. All have high ceilings and plenty of natural light. Beds are covered with white cotton linens and super-soft corduroy-down quilts; vases of lucky bamboo sit on Mission-style dressers. Limestone bathrooms have telephones and Aveda toiletries. Amenities include DVD and CD players, complimentary high-speed Internet and honor bars stocked with organic goodies.
affordable and very zen

booked my out-of-town parents here and they loved it. Rates are incredible and they even have breakfast. My dad was very impressed with how affordable it was yet still very nice, and he stays at 5 star hotels all the time. front desk staff were also very friendly.
Comfy and cute

To be honest I have never stayed over night at the Ambrose, but as a favorite spot for an out of town friend, I have visited the Ambrose many times. The rooms are very comfortable with some views reaching the ocean. They do not have a restaurant, and this does not stop the Food and Beverage Manager, Anne, from creating a delicious and delightful experience for you early in the morning. The car service is wonderful as well as the staff.
- Pros: Staff, Location, Services
- Cons: No Restaurant
Peaceful, Hip, and Lovely
by lgjasphy
This place is a little gem. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful (Leah, Sheena, and Max). The courtesy car (when available) is a nice perk. The rooms were beautiful, the place itself tranquil yet hip minus the attitude. The bed was soooo comfy...we had the best nights sleep, and the breakfast is both generous and a foodie's delight.
We would stay again in a hearbeat.
- Pros: Reasonable, Friendly, near shops and beach
