croissants!

by anne429

I enjoy coming here for breakfast- the omelet is really good- but the thing that stands out are the mini croissants! they are the closest thing i've found to the one's in europe- not exact, but dosh garn better than most here in l.a. the coffee is just ok, but the croissants make up for that. THe outdoor seating is really cute, beware going on a weekend though- cause it gets crowded! Make sure to get the MINI Croissants! They are the one's i'm talking about! :)

Yum Yum Yum

by marpop

Not just bakery, but also preparing hot foods, like eggs for breakfast. The seating can be a tad cramped, but all in all, you can get in and out in a half hour, not spend more than 10-20 bucks, and have a wonderful breakfast for two! Parking can be difficult, on Wilshire, but we have never had a problem...

  • Pros: Food, Price
  • Cons: Parking

Excellent Westside pastries

by jckii

One of my favorite bakeries on the West Side, with an always-fresh selection of delicious pastries and really good non-Starbux coffee. I've never eaten a meal there, just going regularly for morning coffee and a sweet accompaniment or two to that, but in that particular department I am never disappointed. I've always found service here to be perfectly friendly and pleasant - let's just say that people who arrive yacking on a cellphone, anywhere, deserve to be ignored by those they so rudely expect to serve them...

  • Pros: Great pastries and coffee
  • Cons: A wait sometimes, because it's good!

Quaint, ivy-lined French cafe and bakery that serves breakfast and lunch to local crowds.

by Mar Yvette

In Short
Dressed in white chef-like uniforms, young servers behind the counter wait as patrons order from hanging blackboards that list everything from cappuccinos and juice to omelets, sandwiches and salads. Those able to snag one of the small round tables inside or a seat on the front sidewalk or back patio place their order number on the table; to-go customers choose from the large, tempting bakery selection of croissants, danishes and other sweet treats.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Forget Atkins!

by brneechk

I've tried their turkey sandwich, pastries, tart, and omelette-- and I have loved every bite. The bread is ahh-mayyyy-zeeeng! Service is great. Price is good. You can taste the freshness in EVERY bite. The bread and all the other ingredients are sooo fresh you'd think they just picked it from their garden. I love food and not easily impressed but this place is just solid in every single way.

  • Pros: Food, service, parking

Rudeness, lack of customer service

by bebebe1

Is their rudeness due to the fact that they are a patisserie? Customer service should be first come, first serve. I had lunch (to go) today from Amandine. They served 2 patrons behind me before I was served. I only ordered their soup of day. I showed up just finishing a call, I quickly ended my conversation when the clerk was inquiring with the person behind me what they wanted to order. They usually have a 5-person customer line formed, without an apology for the wait.

Other customer related issues:

1) They don't always update their recorded specials for the day, so I needed to speak to a live person who snapped at me for asking. And, I believe it was the manager who picked up the phone.

2) Another time I specifically ordered in advance to pick up and when I got back to the office to eat - it was not the item I ordered, in fact it was a soup containing a meat I do not eat. They did offer to deliver any item I wanted to my office, which I appreciated.

3) Overall they do not care about customer service; their food is just mediocre. They have a clientele only because there are few choices for restaurants in the area. Their draw is for their pasteries and desserts, they are pretty good.

  • Pros: Pasteries, desserts
  • Cons: serivce

Quick and Quaint

by pangea422

The bf and I were on our way to Snug Harbor for breakfast when his observant eye saw Amandine. Always up for trying new places in the neighborhood, I made a U-turn and we strolled on in, ordered up and omelet, french toast and a large cafe mocha. You get a number and pick out a table in front or back. The food is relatively fast, tables are small and good for parties of 4 or smaller - it would probably be harder to find a spot to sit with a larger party. Sitting in the front is good for people watching and you can check out what everyone else orders. Plus the display of desserts and pastries makes for a nice view. I'll be sure to go back and probably get dessert and coffee at some point. Only downfall is that they close at 7. Makes it hard to get to if you have to get to the Westside in traffic and are craving a nice post-dinner dessert.

  • Pros: Good food, good coffee, good place for a weekend morning bite to eat.
  • Cons: Street parking, might have to wait for a table, lines are sometimes long.

Mais Oui (Very Yes)

by mpedante

Amandine breathes a touch of class into the otherwise lackluster West LA eating scene. The pastries are delicate, tortes are rich, and omelettes are heavenly. I'm surprised more people don't know about this lovely bakery. Allez! Bon apetit!

  • Pros: Baked goods
  • Cons: Limited parking
