Cakes, cupcakes, cookies and bars, oh my!

by Matthew Allard at Citysearch

Forget bawdy decorations and loud color palettes that scream for attention: This creamy white and blue Westside bakery is unassumingly sweet. And it seems to prefer letting its baked goods speak for themselves. Lush and lovingly frosted layer cakes, like their signature vanilla buttercake, come in three want-to-eat-it-all sizes from 5" round on up to 12" round. Homemade bars and cookies--chocolate espresso, ginger spice and peanut butter--make the aromatic three-table dining room a place to drop in for a snack, but the bakery's undeniable draw in the last few years has been their winsome collection of cupcakes and mini cupcakes. At $2.25 and $.75 respectively, they're a favorite of on-the-go sweets fanatics. Flavors, like those of their cakes, range anywhere from the expected yellow vanilla to the decadent cream cheese slathered red velvet. Who can resist?

The only place you need to go for great pastries and desserts

By far the best place to go for a sweet treat. I love the bite size cupcakes and how everything is made fresh. I would reccomend this place to everyone to try at least once.

  • Pros: Great customer service / freshness
  • Cons: Size of the bakery

Great value and yummy!

by sverige at Citysearch

I was looking for a new bakery to indulge in that served some delicious cupcakes, when I stumbled upon Buttercup. What I noticed first- how much cheaper it was than Sprinkles, SusieCakes, Vanilla, and Yummy! For $2.00 you get a really good red velvet cupcake that's far better than Sprinkles. They also have great peanut butter chocolate bars and cookies. I wouldn't necessarily say it's better than SusieCakes, but I think I found my new regular bakery!

  • Pros: Price and taste
  • Cons: Not enough variety

This place rocks! We got the mixed cookie and bar plate for our clients and they were BLOWN AWAY. The variety is good and the flavor is extremely decadent and rich. Highly recommended!!

Divine!

by travelmoma at Citysearch

I really love red velvet cupcakes and found that Buttercake Bakery has the best in town. They are moist, flavorful and the icing is of a light cream cheese. Indeed these cupcakes blow those from Spinkles out of the water. Despite all of the hype Sprinkles gets, they suck and for those in search of something worth their while and money, Buttercake will not let one down. I am all over this place.

  • Pros: Great service, moist, flavorful
