Great Location!

by ayami

I just recently went to this spa for a facial for my birthday. . . I'm pregnant, and was in my first trimester, so I couldn't get a massage yet. . . When I called to book the appointment, a woman answered all my questions about getting a massage while pregnant and she was really helpful.

This spa is what I would consider a Day Spa. . . it doesn't have all the ammenities like a larger ritzy spa (think Burke Williams), but it does have a shower and locker rooms. I loved the atmosphere - vases filled with sea shells and bamboo.

I definitely want to go back to get the signature foot treatment. . . you get to sit outside on the patio and look at an amazing view!

The staff was pleasant, and the service was comparable to the facials that I have recieved at other spas. . . I would definitely go back - during the months that are warmer so I can sit on the patio!

  • Pros: Location, location, location. . . staff, view, and ambience
  • Cons: Parking!!! Get there EARLY, have someone drop you off, or take a taxi. . . that's horrendous!

it definitely felt like an ESCAPE

by checkerhead

i was visiting the los angeles area, when i decided to get a massage back in january....i simply walked in and they were able to schedule me immediately....the only drawback was that they did not ask me if i preferred a male/female massage therapist, so they initially scheduled me with a male....when the massage therapist called me for my appt, i had to inform him i preferred a female.....the massage therapist didn't look too happy, but nonetheless the front desk receptionist immediately switched the appt to accommodate my request promptly. the only downfall was that my massage was cut a little short as a result of the time it took for them to arrange the switch....however, the lady who ended up doing my massage was excellent!! one of the best i've ever had.....i definitely plan on stopping in on my next visit to los angeles.....the facility is very quaint and nicely done....it's an older style home turned spa, very cute!

"Escape" is a perfect name

by dardkar

My girlfriend Tonya and I visited Escape to celebrate being single. We both got the Foot awakening. It was so great to be out on the patio listening to music and the crashing waves. The sugar scrub they used made my feet feel so soft that I made an appointment for a full body sugarscrub as well. The staff was so sweet and helpfull. We didnt want to leave, but we'll be back next month for body wraps. The Robes, refreshments, view, attention, we couldn't have asked for more. Whenever I spray on my Zents Perfume, that purchaced, I think of how much fun I had. Thanks for everything!

simply amazing

by bobbyswife131

I had recieved a gift certificate for a luxury package at escape for valentines day from my husband, and I had never been there before so I was a little worried. Im very picky when it comes to my massages haveing had dozens. After slipping on my robe and sipping some tea all of my worries went away. My foot treatment on the deck was AMAZING i had no idea that just getting my feet rubbed could be so beneficial. The smells from the foot bowl where so amaizing too. Then I had a massage which was actually very good, like I said Im very picky. I told the girl what I liked and didn't like and she accomidated me well. Lastly my facial was so educational. I had asked my facialist about fighting dry skin in my "T-Zone" and she explained all of the products that she used and how they would help my particular skin type. When everything was said and done she also helped me start a skin care home system that didnt break my budget. Im so greatful to the staff AND my husband for sending me I hope I get another gift certificate for my birthday. Hint Hint. I may just have to give MYSELF a early birthday gift. Thank you so much Rory, Kristin, and April (And to the receptionist for feeding my meter all day)

Great spa!

by jameshawthorne

I've been to Escape many times and I have always enjoyed myself. I've found the staff to be extremely professional and caring. I just had the Deep Tissue massage and my wife got me a facial and it rocked. I read the last review and perhaps it would be a good idea to call the owner and tell them who your facialist was because I am sure they would like to know.

  • Pros: Skilled staff

not magical

by lynn_nyc

I had a massage then the facial. After the massage I was told to drink water. Right before I stepped into the facial room I used the restroom. During the facial I felt I had to go again, very badly. At another spa, I was told if I have to use the restroom, to use it, instead of holding it in and not relaxing. Apparently, this is not the policy at Escape Day Spa. When I told her I had to use the restroom, she sighed and said, "uh...sorry but I have another client after you...can you just hold it?" I waited a few more minutes and while she was putting on the mask, I said, "How long do I keep the mask on?" She said, "about five minutes" I said,"okay, while the mask is setting can I please use the restroom." She agreed to this. I was back in less than 3 minutes. I felt very uncomfortable being told to "hold it in" because she had another appointment. Escape Day Spa has a problem with scheduling if, a 3 minute toilet break will throw off their whole schedule. I felt like just another number at Super Cuts.

  • Pros: massage therapist was nice

A foot massage and an ocean view?what could be better!!!!

by amanda733

This place was amazing. I had this foot massage outside looking at the ocean, since I?m from the Midwest this was a real treat. The staff there are all so very nice, they treat you as a person not just a dollar. I am making it a point that every time I come to the west coast to stop by Escape and indulge myself in a full day of relaxing. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to treat themselves to a day of pampering:)

Great spa, but appointments ran late

by toitoi

I have booked two appointments over the past two weeks for my husband. He says that the massages were good and the spa was well-appointed and very clean. HOWEVER, both appointments ran over 20 minutes late. If a customer shows up late, I would think that the duration of that customer's service would be reduced accordingly, instead of pushing back the next appointment. For the second appointment, the spa did contact us to alert us that they were running late, but not until half an hour before the appointment was scheduled. This is the first time he or I have been to a spa appointment that was more than five minutes behind schedule. It's actually pretty annoying because the whole purpose of going to a spa is to relax, not to worry about whether you will be late for your dinner or theater engagement later that evening.

  • Pros: ambience, massage therapy
  • Cons: not on time

Best massage ever!

by the_green_queen

I get a lot of massages all over the Southbay and when I travel as well and I was so pleased to discover this great place! Although they are smaller in size, they have really utilized the space well. The massage I received was the best massage I have ever had! Although the parking can be slim at times, the staff was so accomodating with help as to where to go. I will absolutely return. The prices, the staff, the ambiance, the location and the treatment were all great!!

  • Pros: Prices, therapist, ambiance
