Amazing food and service!!!

I have been around mexican food...let me tell ya! This was the best I've had in years. Great service all around. I Can't recommend it enough. Great drinks Too!!! When are you going to open one in the Valley?

Avoid Eating Here!!

I have to say this, food was pretty awful for the price. I kid you not a reheated frozen mexican food

would have been better. Wish we had eaten some place else. Horrible food & service. Obviosly terrible

management.

Bravo! Casa Escobar - Malibu is "New and Improved"

When Casa Escobar - Malibu, burned down a couple of years ago, we felt like we had lost a new friend. But Kathy and Russell Harvey didn't let a few cinders stop them for long. Last year, Casa Escobar reopened her heavy arched doors once again, and the food and the atmosphere are better than ever. Now that the cinema has reopened as well, My husband and I usually stop in before catching a movie; I usually get the Ensalada Del Mar, which is a fresh fish salad on mixed greens, and he orders shrimp enchiladas with mole sauce and a margaritta. Since the fire, the Harvey's remodled the restaurant, and now there's outdoor seating as well, and the atmosphere is upscale and festive. The bar is always busy, especially last Monday night, when they cattered to a lively crowd for Cindo de Mayo. But the best thing about Casa Escobar - Malibu is the service. Kathy and Russell are usually around to stop by your table and greet you, and their staff are always friendly and warm. There's plenty of parking too, so you don't have to worry about a valet ticket. They're open for lunch and dinner, and brunch on Sunday, (but not a buffet, as it was before the fire). However, as far as I'm concerned, at a restaurant like Casa Escobar, ordering fresh from the menu is preferable than getting "all you can eat" from the buffet anyway! So, I say Bravo to the "New and Improved" Casa Escobar - Malibu

Buffet NOT every Sunday, bland food

I conducted a search on this here website for "Sunday Brunch" and found Casa Escobar in Malibu. Under "Insider Tips", it was described as having an all-you-can-eat buffet brunch every Sunday from 10 to 2:30.

Not so.

When we got there, there was no buffet, just a short brunch menu. The waiter told us they only have brunch "maybe" during the summer and for special occasions like Mother's Day. Disappointed, but not deterred, we ordered some exotic-sounding dishes from the menu. One word: BLAND. All of it.

I feel bad for having to say anything negative because the waitstaff was so attentive and personable, but I just want to caution others that they might not get what they expect, especially with such a high rating. Also, the editorial staff should be more careful about the information they post (hint hint).

The best mexican food restaurant in LA!!!!

Casa Escobar Malibu is definitely one of the best mexican restaurants I have ever been to. I have been to many other mexican food restaurants in LA and in other cities, and I think nothing compares to Casa Escobar. I have also been to mexico countless amounts of times, and Casa Escobar nails it when it comes to authentic mexican cuisine, and it has an authentic mexican atmosphere. The staff was super friendly, and very on top of things, also the owners even came around to the tables to check on their customers, now thats service! On a side note steverue is a donkey and has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. He is claiming that there are no burritos on the menu, well first of all the burritos he mentions aren't even a traditonal mexican plate, and they do serve burritos, just ask! He should also look cafefully at the menu because it didn't even change after the fire. Casa Escobar Malibu is even a hotspot for local celebrities . Overall its an amazing restaurant, and I always leave with a smile on my face, before and after the fire.

Yummy Brunch

I have to agree the fire was an odd blessing for Casa Escobar; the redesign is absolutely AMAZING! The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! Our drinks were never empty and we had 2-3 servers always asking if there was anything else they could do. I look forward to going for dinner with a group of friends.

Malibu's Best Comeback

The last reviewer got it all wrong - OK, at least he was right about the fire. That blaze was actually an odd blessing for Casa Escobar. The redesigned place has a wonderful ambiance, the bar is separated from the dining room and I feel the food is better than before - especially their mole sauce and fajitas. (Hey, steverue, "liquid" salsa is actually common in authentic Mexican cuisine, and while burritos are on the lunch menu, I've ordered them for dinner several times. Yes. Did you bother asking your server? It's that easy!) Malibu is thrilled to have Casa Escobar back - everyone should check it out!

Review No longer valid - burned down restaurant -

The restaurant that is pictured no longer exists. It unfortunately burned down some two years ago. Some two years later, something entirely different opened up, that I cant say was anything like its former self, as the selection here seems to be nouveau mexican -- think American! Yes. The food is far more American cuisine than Mexican. In fact on the entire menu you wont see a single Burrito or Chimichanga. What you will see however is what you see in American Cuisine restaurants. Strip steak, fish, pork chops, chicken noodle soup.

The size of the current Casa Escobar, its service and food, even decor are not what they were previously.

Yes. What burned down two years ago was perhaps the best Mexican restaurant i've ever been to.

The one that took its place? I dont think you could even consider as Mexican Cuisine.

Like I say. On the entire menu. Not a single Burrito item.

The salsa seems to have changed. You know the Salsa that comes when you arrive with a basket of tortillas. It is liquid salsa now. Yes. Liquid Salsa. You could drink it. There is no tomatoes in there, no visible ingredients that would be retained by a strainer. Its an entirely unique experience. Have you ever tried to dunk a tortilla chip in liquid salsa? I think you could compare it to a watered down version of tomatoe soup with some hot sauce. Very unique.

So we thought. What the hey. Maybe they want us to order something more chuncky, instead of providing it for us with the tortilla chips. So we order Pico de Gayo. Wow. I cant wait. What came back. Was more like Onion de Gayo. About 70% white onions.

When the rest of the meal arrived. You couldnt even tell we were in a Mexican restaurant.

The service attentiveness could also use some improvement, as my glass was empty

for majority of our stay without anyone coming by.

Honestly. What is pictured. Is. Not. There. Not the food. Not the decor. Not the service.

Paintings by local artists are mounted on the dining room walls. Best Mole in Malibu!

The newly decorated dining room and bar is sensational. It's comfortable and the ambience is wonderful. I've tried several dishes, such as the enchiladas, and found my favorite dish in all of Malibu....Shrimp in Mole Sauce. The shrimp are extremely large and after coming three times for the same dish, always great. The mole is midly spicy, and has a wonderful hint of cocoa.

The service is excellent, and you'll be well looked after by owners Kathy and Russell. I highly recommend Casa Escobar.
