Huge Disappointment!
by jkarmstr at Citysearch
Maybe Monday's are just not good for this restaurant.
I took my wife here for her 40th Birthday - we had the 9 course chef's menu with wine pairing.
The service was excellent throughout.
The food was a great disappointment. The raw scallop dish smelled exceedingly fishy and was slimy - why we didn't send it back, I can't explain (at least we didn't get sick). The filet mignon was very mealy, maybe over-seared or worse, re-heated - we did send that back. The lamb, rabbit and cheese dishes were good, albeit simple. Other dishes were lame to uninteresting and things anyone could do at home (e.g., quarter of a tomato with a splat of wasabi on top and sea salt on the side).
All of the wines were good, but none paired with the dish(i.e., the taste didn't alter at all after sampling the food) - no bottles were brought to the table, just the glass, so we could not confirm what wines we were actually getting.
Based on other reviews, maybe we just chose the worst day possible - we were the only people in the restaurant.
Based on the $$$$ for our meal, for fish, I'd recommend Providence. Spago has the best chefs menu (this is our benchmark), followed closely by Hatfields. Ortolan and Grace are also highly recommended. Unfortunately, Noe is now at the bottom of our list.
- Pros: Service
- Cons: Food
Best Brazilian Taste In LA
by ironchefjeff at Citysearch
One of my favorite spots for my brazilian food fixes. I eat here at least once a month and i don't think i will ever get tired of the food here.
Very Average.. slightly disappointing given the decor and location

The food is decent, nothing too special or horrid. Service was pretty great and so were the desserts
Unbelievable Food!
by chrisrod57 at Citysearch
Was at Noe last night with my sister and cousin Diego for dinner. He is a manager at the hotel and had told me about this restaurant for a while so we decided to go. We had the 6 course dinner and it was unbelievable. The pairing of wines were on the spot. The service was great. They brought us 3 different kind of fresh rolls every 5 minutes with truffle butter that was very delicious. The manager Charles Lee introduced himself and asked if we needed anything or had any questions about the menu or wines that he would be happy to help. The waiter gave us a little bit of an introduction to every wine and why it was the perfect pairing with the next course. Also met the chef Glenn Ichii after our excelent dinner. Will be coming back for another great experience shortly.
- Pros: Experience you will never forget!
DineLa reveiw of Noe's Omni Hotel
by lve2lose at Citysearch
My husband and I heard about the three course deal in LA which is called
DineLa. There are about 100 Restaurants participating. We chose Noe at
the Omni hotel in Downtown, LA. Service was OK. Food tasted OK but there
was so little food that we left hungry. We had a choice of two items for each
course and we got different items so we can share and sample each others food.
On our main entrees I had Cornish Hen Roulade with Foie Gras. There were only three walnut size chicken breast on my plate. I did not even taste any Foie Gras on my chicken My husband had Bouillabaisse with wild fish and shellfish, his dish only had one shrimp, one mussel, one clam and two pieces of fish each only two inches long.
Needless to say we left hungry having spent over $100. We will not go back to Noe's again.
The Omni's restaurant shines with elegant fusion cuisine and glossy decor.

The Scene
More than just a business traveler's dining room, this sweeping hotel restaurant exudes an aura of romance. Art deco fixtures, gold-leaf prints and glass cases lined with wine bottles subtly accentuate the intimate candlelit tables. At night, Eiffel Towers etched into the walls glow with cobalt blue light. Knowledgeable servers ready eager diners for a personalized, memorable experience.
The Food
Chef Robert Gadsby deftly prepares architecturally complex food with French and Japanese aesthetics. The colorful mimosa salad, a molded oval of spicy chicken, crunchy noodles topped with layers of cooked egg, is contrasted by a small glass of cool mango-mint frappe. Plump, silky Diver sea scallops are perfectly balanced with lemon-rosemary vinaigrette. Entrees are solid, from flavorful short ribs, tender beef tenderloin and soft root vegetables to roasted striped bass with braised fennel. For dessert, fried egg rolls filled with still-crunchy apples and peaches are worth passing up for the exceptional cheese course offerings.
The Omni's airy dining room gives an elegant downtown crowd modern American cuisine with French and Japanese flair.

The Scene
With a fabulous downtown location adjacent to Disney Hall and MOCA, this airy glass-walled dining room and bar perch over an expansive roof garden and twinkling cityscape. The subtle deco stylings, subdued gold, ochre and cobalt tones, and white tablecloths lend the room classic elegance sometimes impinged on by the noisy adjacent bar. Hotel guests, business diners and well-heeled downtown arts patrons create a refined atmosphere enhanced by extremely attentive service.
The Food
Contemporary American cuisine has strong French leanings with a few soft Asian accents. Rabbit confit strudel is quite rich, but a delicate scallop ceviche, shot through with fresh yuz, is as refreshing and smooth as satin. Dungeness crab-stuffed loup de mer is heavy with somewhat muddled flavors, but a tender Liberty Farm duck breast is offset nicely by savory poached ramps and blueberry sauce. One stunning dessert is the berry cobbler--bursting with fresh summer flavor--alongside silky Chimay ice cream.
Hits: The dining room and bar views offer dynamic city views, and the chef creates compelling themed tasting menus.
Misses: The ambitious menu can be uneven at times, and the decor, while pretty, can lean towards stuffiness.
Great food. Great Decor. Horrible Customer Service. No warm fuzzies.

Great food. Great decor. But the service is horrible. The staff walks around like robots. No expressions of emotions. No smiles. Nothing. My party of 13 went there recently to dine. You would think, people would be happy that you selected their place to spend their money. The manager never came by and said hello or even asked what the occassion or how was the service. The executive chef did not out per my request at the end of our dinner and talked to us. That was cool.
Bottom line is the food is really good but they do need to work on the warm fuzzies for customer service.
- Pros: Valet Parking was $5.00. Beautiful decor. Cigar lounge. Live music.
- Cons: Service was horrible. Need warm fuzzies.
Great Spontaneous Tasting Menus!
by sweetbreadman at Citysearch
Chef Gadsby did an amazing job creating an on the spot menu! Wines were paired by the steward with skill and many by the glass options were unique. I've been several times and reservations are recommended during peak dining hours. However, if you can't get in, the full menu is served in the sizable lounge.
Elegant, Delicious, and Friendly

Just went last nite. All-around great fine dining experience without attitude and lame-o industry types. Go during the weekends when downtown LA is quiet, magical, and romantic...!
- Pros: friendly service, non-intrusive, detail-oriented, delicious food
