Overpriced for quality
by marshmallows84
I came to Jin based on the good reviews, therefore i was a bit inclined to imagine that the macarons were very good. However, something was still off, I was in denial, probably since i splurged 31.00 for a piece of cake and 16 macarons (yes im a pig), and wanted to convince myself that it was justified. However, after tasting the macarons at Chantilly in Torrance I realized it was a rip off. The macaroons at Chantilly are superb. The vanilla is the best ive tasted in my life, and ive tasted many. The chocolate is slightly bitter but very satisfying, and the rasberry is not too sweet and the filling doesnt taste like the cheap jelly filling that other rasberry macs have. The strawberry cake was excellent quality. The best part is that the price was about 38 percent cheaper than Jin.
Jin's macaroons crumble easily and fail to hold that balance of chewiness and flakiness. The pistachio flavor is off and the vanilla is plain. overall they are average. and please dont get me started on their marquise cake. Not worth it.
- Pros: nice packaging
- Cons: quality
OVER-rated and WAY too expensive

Give me a break - this place is so over-rated and way over priced. Got suckered once, but dont let yourself.
- Cons: Stupidly price
French macaroons
by SMdesserts
Great hidden spot in Abbot Kinney where they make dessert into an art.
The teas and dessert are excellent but the chocolates are out of this world.
I recommend their little chocolates and their crunchy cornflakes cookies. I also appreciate that the cakes are only mildly sweet and nothing is too heavy.
- Cons: parking
Abbott Kinney's artsy crowd flocks to this quaint Venice pastry boutique for homemade chocolates, cakes and teas.

In Short
Tucked behind a gray wooden fence on this bustling Westside boulevard awaits an intimate tea garden retreat with a minimalist landscape and retro-inspired stools and tables. The wood-floored store area showcases small square chocolates with innovative flavors including lemon grass, caramel clove and black roasted sesame. Small cakes also share the spotlight with choices ranging from the dark chocolate and French griottine cherries of the Belgian marquise to the fresh mango and mascarpone of the passion.
Great Desserts for a Party!
by jazzolicious
We were having a birthday dinner party for 12 on 1/26/08 and had everything but dessert. We love Jin's so thought instead of having a B-Day cake why not have several different desserts. It was the best idea ever. I called ahead of time to make sure they would have a choice of everything and if you go before noon they usually do. I picked 12 of the 15 choices and all were fabulous. Not only did they taste great (which we already new) but they were so beautiful to look at. They were little works of art. Our friends were very impressed and loved the fact that they could share and taste all of the different desserts. All of our friends are going to check it out. It is a great place to go with your girl friends, take a date or your mom. The tea is awesome and the food is delightful. I have 2 friends that have not been and boy are they in for a Sunday afternoon treat! Best of all the price was totally reasonable...
- Pros: Awesome and Beautiful Desserts and more...
- Cons: none

Yummy tea, sweets & chocolates
by aquawarlock
One of my favorite spots for afternoon tea in the L.A. area - their high tea is a smorgasbord of miniature delights - a little taste of everything. I also appreciate that the cakes are only mildly sweet and nothing is too heavy. The teas (from French tea retailer Les Palais des Thes) are excellent as well - especially the floral & fruity blends.
- Pros: great sweets & teas
- Cons: can be a bit pricey, street parking may be difficult
Go for afternoon tea, stay for the food!

A delightful little tranquil garden and food that will rock your socks await you when you visit Jin Patisserie. The afternoon tea comes with more substantial (and yummy) offerings than traditional teas, and the desserts are simply out of this world. Highly recommended are the French macaroons--they melt in your mouth. But be aware that if you order patries to go, they advise that you eat them the same day and they aren't kidding. The ultra fresh creations only last so long...
- Pros: delicious food and breathtaking desserts, also yummy variety of teas
- Cons: it's very small, so there can be a wait for a table on a nice day, also not good for large groups
everything here is so lovely

The extensive tea menu and beautiful confections make this a perfect spot for an afternoon break. I have given their chocolates to many people as a gift - they are little pieces of art that taste wonderful too.
