Dr. Todd is kind and wonderful.

by tinkerbettie at Citysearch

I have been going to Laurel Pet Hospital for almost ten years on a recommendation from a friend. Dr. Todd has always been absolutely kind and gentle with my cat. I trust him immensely. He always makes sure you understand your options before doing anything. He doesn't encourage unnecessary testing or procedures, and I have found the pricing to be reasonable. The staff has always been nothing but very friendly. They obviously love animals. Yes, the office can get busy, but I have never waited long enough to get frustrated (even on a Saturday).

Had a decent and honest experience

by VitaLusty at Citysearch

I had a negative experience at the Hollywood Animal Hospital, so I took my choking cat to Laurel after another clinic in Hollywood recommended them.

Dr. Hu was kind, gentle, receptive and avoided excess with testing and cost.

She kept my kitty for observation and took a precautionary x-ray, with my request.

I will make it my regular animal hospital.

(We told her about the assistant who dropped the cat in travel bag on the counter, carelessly. She seemed receptive to the complaint)

  • Pros: Vet was direct, kind and economic
  • Cons: assistant dropped my cat in bag on the counter

Laurel Pet Hospital

by Spauldingboy at Citysearch

This place is and always has been chaotic. I've been a customer for many years, primarily because of the convenient location. However, my usual vet, Dr. Seoud, is now gone. Dr. Calcyn (the father and owner) is ok and the son Todd is good and kind. The staff is horrendous.....unattractive, underpowered intellectually, sullen and inefficient. It is overcrowded and you are never taken on time. Always apologetic but it doesn't get fixed. The other day, I waited 40 minutes and then left disgusted. Overbooked. There is an old saying..."When the fish stinks, it stinks from the head." High prices and low service.

  • Pros: Location
  • Cons: Late/Overbooked and disrespect for appointment timeliness

Vet Appears Good, Reception is Disgraceful

by dutch3333 at Citysearch

When approaching something as personal and emotional as pet care, service is by far the most important aspect when trying a new veterinarian. Although my experience with the veterinarian was for appearances sake outstanding - only time will tell - the coldness and honestly rudeness of the reception and front desk staff make me pause as to whether I will ever return. I was greeted as if I was interrupting something, and I was forced to make my own introduction to blank stares. After the appointment when told to return to the front desk by the Doctor, I was greeted by a "What's up?" by one of the staff, as if I had been an annoyance.

I want to feel as if I am taken care of in all aspects, and that my pet is getting the best attention possible. I can't say that Laurel Pet Hospital can offer that, and there are many veterinarians in Los Angeles that can make sure that you and your pet receive excellent care and service.

  • Pros: Vet Seemed Caring
  • Cons: Front Desk Makes Me Question Overall Quality

Worst customer service I have experienced in my life.

by veryfaircritic at Citysearch

All of my friends have discontinued doing business at this place because of the RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL front desk staff. I have tried to hang on because I adore the vets, Dr. Seoud and Dr. Todd. Unfortunately, now that I have had one more bad experience, I too will not return. It is unfortunate that the unacceptabley rude staff are driving away the business. It is also expensive. They'd have to be paying me to tolerate this rude treatment. A staff member yelled at me!

  • Pros: Great vets
  • Cons: customers treated very poorly, no parking

Really just in it for the money...

by monkeetrik at Citysearch

One of my indoor cats got out, and brought back a few fleas. He was a very clean cat, as he washed himself regularly. He had swallowed a few fleas and developed worms. Brought in the stool samples and confirmed the diagnosis. At the time the household had four cats (no, i'm not that crazy cat guy, but my girlfriend at the time had two of her own), and they required me to bring in all four cats to disperse worm medicine. Not really sure why they had me bring all four, but I soon realized why. Because they were going to charge me for medical visits on all cats. Wow! That adds up. Each cat was in custody for about 30 seconds to one minute, to be weighed. Something I could have done at home, for free. Then, Instead of administering the latest in pet care (a no fail shot for worms), they had me dispense extremely expensive pills to all four cats over a course of two weeks. Well, when the pills had not worked, they asked me to repeat the whole process over, including bringing all four cats in again.

I said, "no way!" I then took the infected cat to a vet and received less expensive, fool proof treatment that worked. Yes, it required me to bring all four cats in again, but they did what they should have the first time around, keeping cost effective in mind.

This vet is just too expensive, and profit driven. It left a bad taste in my mouth, as well as the four kitties.

  • Pros: nice neighborhood, clean facility in the front anyway.
  • Cons: expensive, practices are profit driven, rather than convenient or cost effective.

Practice doesnt make perfect

by mickleg at Citysearch

Dr. Seoud has a wonderful bedside manner. however, his attitude does not compensate for his lack of knowldge. I had a terrible emergency with a foxtail in my dog's throat, which Dr. Seoud could not treat. The practice insisted my dog needed IMMEDIATE medical attention (a foxtail had lodged in her trachea and the absess threatened to drain into her lungs). They offered to "attempt" to remove the foxtail, although no one at the practice had any experience and could not assure me my pet would survive. When I asked where I should take my dog, they gave me the name of the VCA, but when I asked them for the number, they insisted that I look it up myself. With no help from the staff, and no plausible treatment options, i was sent into a panic that i would have to leave work to rescue my dog from their incompetent hands. When I arrived at laurel pet hospital, Dr. Seoud would not release my "dying" pet without the propre paperwork being filled out (although I had been a regular patient for 3 years). This took over 40 minutes at the understaffed and aloof front desk. When I was finally attended to, they tried to sell me ear infection medicine... although the problem was a foxtail lodged in her throat... huh? I had been a loyal customer there and expected, because of the inflated prices, to recieve above average attention. Unfortunately, you don't always get what you pay for.

  • Pros: nice location
  • Cons: unecessary and expensive, dangerous

Expensive without reason, rude receptionists, medication did not cure the problem!

by yosevuala at Citysearch

My new puppy needed her puppy vaccines so I brought her there because of the reviews I read. I walked out spending over $100 for second round vaccines which is higher than any other place I called. So then when she reached 4 months old I called and they said it was another $120 for final round shots! They make you pay a $50 visiting fee each time you go in for vaccines. Ridiculous! When I asked why they charged so much more than any other place, the receptionist said it was because "all vets are different" I'm like what?! What kind of answer is that? Anyhow I also was prescribed some ear medication for my pup, which didn't help her one bit. I'm so frustrated and need to find a reasonable, proficient and honest vet with friendly receptionists. I will never go back to Laurel.

Thanks Laurel Pet Hospital for Taking All My Money!

by jenishin at Citysearch

Do not, I repeat DO NOT take your pet here.

After $800 in medical bills, and three different diagnoses as to why my cat sneezes - guess what? He's still SNEEZING.

I'm guaranteed to be put on hold by the receptionist every time I call for at least 15 minutes.

I've left messages for out vet and have never had a call returned.

Oh, and when I asked them to fax me my cat's records, the girl actually laughed, and said, "well, you're not going to get them for a while."

Greeeaaat.

Thanks for eating all my money, Laurel Pet Hospital.

Dr. Todd is really just terrific - best I've ever been to.

by mbwd at Citysearch

I just want to share (briefly) my experience with Dr. Todd. I brought my elderly (13 year old) dog to see him when we woke up one morning and she could not stand up or walk. She had been having problems with her hips, so walking had not been perfect for a while, but this was an abrubt and dramatic decline. I had not seen Dr. Todd before, but based on the reviews citysearch I gave him a go.

Best decision I ever made with regard to my pup's health. To be honest, my dog has been healthy, almost without exception, for her first 13 years. So I have not had the need to see many vets for anything major. Just rabies and the occasional bite from another dog. Anyway, this current problem is major and we thought it might time.

Dr. Todd was just the best. He was extremely caring with her and us - he expressed real concern for the well-being of my dog. Moreover, the time he spent with us felt unimpeded. Most other vets and docs that I've been to make you feel as if you're on borrowed time. Every second I feel them slipping away mentally to their next patient. Not so with Dr. Todd. His total focus was on my pup and our love for her and need to help her more comfortable. I can't say enough good things about his bedside manner or his professionalism. Great.

Anyway, for those interested in my dog, Dr. Todd suggested some treatments that he thought might help. They did. Its not as if she is cured and will live for ever. But she is happy, comfortable, and can walk for the time being. He was very sensitive to the issue of her living with dignity and ensuring that we make wure that continues.

The facilities are very nice as well. The staff was very helpful and professional.

I can't recommend these folks enough. I doubted that the reviews were real because they were so good (and b/c I'm naturally skeptical). Well, I'm telling you that Dr. Todd is for real and so are the reviews.

If you need a great vet, go to him.
