I drive from OC to Tarzana for Curry Bowl's Vegetarian Kothu Roti. I recommend for you to ask for it to be not spicy at all, so you can taste all the other flavors in the meal. Unless you can't eat without chili, ask for it to be medium hot. Their Medium hot is super hot.
It's a very big portion for about $7.. enough for two ladies to share.
Best place to try authentic Sri Lankan Food.
- Pros: Best Authentic Sri Lankan Food.

I have been gong here since the new owners took over about 3 yrs ago & the food is consistently great all the time....Being a Chef myself I have had bad Sri Lankan food(similiar to Thai food and Indian mixed) but not this place. The owners are always kind and the Fish curry anf Kothu Roti cannot be beat. The weekend lunch buffets are the ebst if you truly want to experience everything and not break the bank. Good size portions & they have great appetizers like Patties, Fish rolls, Veggies puffs etc... ALL in all if you are tired of the same foods try something new and ask the owners to help if you are not familiar. Also they use all Halal meats( Kosher) and get the good stuff locally.
Enjoy
- Pros: fresh food, easy to find, large portions, lots of options..
- Cons: small, not enough places to sit and hard to get parking at times

Living in Sri Lanka for a month last summer, I got very used to well done, homemade Sri Lankan food. Curry Bowl gets it right with most things. While the roti was a little greasy, the chicken curry with string hoppers was fantastic. Ask about the vegi dishes offered, as they don't seem to appear on the menu (don't miss the lentils). The ambiance was non-existent. The TV and radio were too loud in the upper room. Still, a great experience.
- Pros: Authentic food, Nice owner
- Cons: Loud music upstairs

Nice food, good appetizers, nice kothu roti (It is called Kothu Parotha in South India). Fish cutlet & Fish puffs are tasty too.
Little expensive but good food. May be spicy if you are not used to spicy.
- Pros: Taste
- Cons: Price

If you crave Pol Sambol or hoppers and fish curry this is the only place in LA. As on Sri Lanka, everybody is very nice, but it's a hole in the wall. The food is good and authentic. Buy a "Lion" beer at the store next door in the event you don't want the (very good) mango juice. Good. Ooh I wish I was back in Bentota, Kandy or Colombo. Or in Galle. No sea view at the Curry Bowl though. But it's worth if you are in the neighbourhood.
- Pros: Pol Sambol, Good hoppers
- Cons: No Thambili
