I really don't like to try new foods, but my sister talked me into going. The food was extremely tasty and the waiters were unbelievable. This is now one of my favorite places to eat!

unlike other fancy moroccan places this place serves the real deal. this is as authentic as it gets. great appetizers to entrees. their hummus is the best in town. cigars are addictive. and their home-made lamb sausages... out of this world. and their desserts compliments the meal so well.

Simon's Cafe is popular for its Moroccan-inspired dishes and Mediterranean flavors.

literally. The tears welled up in my eyes as I tasted Simon's Sole-wrapped Scallops in Bernaise sauce. (It's not on the regular menu, but you should ask about it.) I can't begin to tell you how much love and attention Simon puts into your meal (and the service). This place is worth its weight in gold.

  • Pros: Just about everything

I have been a regular customer for the last 3 years and have come to know Chef Simon quite well. Simon is a true class act; a soft spoken, gentleman with over 30 years of experience ranging from being a chef on a cruise ship to owning the first morroccan restaurant in Japan. Simons Cafe always has the freshest salads in town that are never over dressed, including a caesar salad with homemade hazelnut croutons. The beauty of Simon's is in the details, from the handmade plates, teapots, and tagines to his wonderful mint iced tea. Simon's homemade soups are unbelievable. Ranging from simple favorites like chicken soup and minestrone to such exotic combinations like cauliflower and hazlenut, and potato and apple, it is hard for me to pick a favorite. Another favorite of mine is Simons Cappellinni Genevese made with his own homegrown basil. This is not on the menu but if you ask nicely he will sure whip some up for you. Simons often offers daily specials with seasonal and hard to find ingredients. It is also worth mentioning that after every meal, Simon brings out a fresh prepared desert ranging from homemade cookies with hazelnuts and pecans, to baklava and his fresh riccotta cheesecake that is simply to die for. In this day of fast food and corporate chains, Simons Cafe is the antithesis to bland, mass produced, over priced, stand in line for two hours for a piece of lousy cheescake kind of establishments. Do yourself a favor and make this a regular stop for the best food in the valley.

  • Pros: Food prepared by a real chef
  • Cons: None!

We live in Sherman Oaks and love to walk to this little gem of a restaurant located directly across the street from Whole Foods on Sepulveda. The Moroccan Moist Lamb Tagine is incredible, all of Simon's soups are delicious, and the Cheese Borek and Spicy Cigars are great starters. Ask Simon if he has any specials and he just might offer lamb shank or a special pasta dish he creates just for you. Simon uses the freshest ingredients, even using basil he grows in his home garden!

The overall dining experience is very relaxing, comfortable and unpretentious. Check out the back wall where Simon subtly displays newsclippings from his experience runing the first Moroccan Restaurant in Japan for 15 years. He is somewhat of a celebrity there, appearing on TV and even cooking for the japanese royal family. Simon is the nicest man--very humble about his background and very accommodating of the tastes of his customers.

Simon's is a great choice for a casual meal where you want to enjoy great conversation (it's not loud like other Valley eateries), great beer (he carries Moroccan "Casa" beer... hard to find!) and delicious, flavorful food. Give it a try at least once and you will definitely want to come back again... We really feel it is the best food in the Valley!

  • Pros: Delicious Food, Relaxing atmosphere, Friendly service

Simon's has become my favorite restaurant in all of Los Angeles. He is a world class chef that really knows how to utilize fresh ingredients to their fullest. If you stop by for lunch TRY THE SOUP, no matter what it is...it will be fantastic! His fresh fish is always cooked to perfection, and pasta dishes are both delicate and intensely flavorful. The food is so fresh, I notice that I actually FEEL great after a meal at Simons. Wonderful!

  • Pros: Quality, Value, Intimate

Simon's Cafe is in the unfortunately position of being located on a stretch of Sepulveda Blvd. that is anathema to resturant-goers, despite its proximity to a Whole Foods market. Every day, thousands pass by, yet little do they know of the culinary delights that await them inside this unassuming little gem of a Morrocan resturant. It breaks my heart when myself and my loved one are the only two people inside the resturant on a thursday night, especially because the food is stupendous as it is. The Lamb Tagine is otherworldly; probably the best lamb dish I have ever had: sweet and tender and moist. The traditional N. African salads are also delicious. And most wines come at exceptional value: the pride of Simon's collection is a 1982 Rothschild vintage. Please help me save this resturant, fellow Sherman Oaksians!

  • Pros: Great Wine, Exceptional Service, Wonderful Food

This little place looks unprepossesing from the outside, but inside is an array of mouth-watering delicacies. One of my favorite foods is Meguez sausage, and Simon's is homemade - incredible! All the food is interesting, perfectly spiced, and flavorful. A full range of textures and tastes, something for every palate.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the world!

  • Pros: Delicious, Prompt service, Friendly
