silver lake wine is a fantastic find in this area! the wine admirers they employ do not hesitate to answer any question, and they pour without pretensiousness. for this reason, they are quite busy on monday nights but rest assured, they have also expanded their bar to include more space for the masses. during the afternoons when they aren't throwing the best wine tasting around, they still offer informative help that will help you find the best wine for your dinner - probably one you can't find anywhere else but one that is so delicious you wish it could pour out of a faucet. a definite must for anyone!!

Pros: wines hard to find anywhere else, genuinely helpful and happy staff

It's not the biggest selection of wine. That honor probably goes to the Wine House. But it's all hand-selected, and the guys (and gal) who work there know what they are doing. One of them used to be the sommelier at Campanile! The level of customer service is great. They really work with your tastes and price range to find something right. I like that the table by the door is all under $15, and the rest is organized by region. There are also some nice premium wines as well. They are expanding to be a little bigger and will soon carry hard liqour as well. They do really nice tastings throughout the week. It's a good way to meet people.

Pros: great customer service, parking lot, wine tastings

Cons: busy on monday/thursday nights

This is a brilliant store. All the staff are both passionate and enthusiastic and take delight in digging out unusual and exceptional wines. They're not distracted by old-world label snobberry or new-world fruit bomb cults, and as are happpy selling you an interesting $15 speanish red as a small allocation napa cabernet. Refreshing, informative and unpretentious with a constantly changing selection they're doing great business and deserve to thrive. If you know loads or nothing about wine, this is the best place to go in LA.

Pros: Huge range, Friendly staff, Relaxed atmosphere

i happened upon this shop by accident. the staff answered all of my dumb questions, gave me recommendations and made me feel welcome. bonus points for remembering me on subsequent visits. the sunday tastings are out of this world. start with a sparkling wine and move on to the heavy hitters paired with tasty foods. the folks at SLW know what they're doing and have a passion for bringing good wine to los angeles. cheers!

Pros: selection, knowledgable staff, incredible value

Their enthusiasm for discovering underappreciated and underpriced wines is infectious. The staff couldn't be more helpful and more accessible, and you'll come out with a fifteen dollar bottle of wine that rocks. I look forward to running out of wine because it's so much fun to go exploring in SLW. They're not salesmen, they're wine advocates.

Pros: great staff, great values, one-of-a-kind wines

Cons: , tastings book up fast
