The strip-mall locale--with tropical fish art and glasstop tables strewn with alternative newsweeklies--may not scream beachy cantina, but it brings a genuine taste of Baja. Caltech students and neighborhood families keep it packed. The scaly and mustachioed mascot encourages customers to order seafood. The burrito de camarones swaddles flash-fried shrimp, rice, pinto beans, cabbage, pico de gallo and mayo in a flour tortilla. Other perennial pleasers are the seviche tostada and the papas taco.
