The food is tasty, and the ambiance is pleasing but the buck should stop there. Unfortunately, you will spend several bucks just to tease your appetite. Go if your into paying a lot to 'fit in and be coool'.

  • Pros: people watching
  • Cons: Smug attitudes and overpriced

We brought guests here in town from NY. I made a reservation for 5 people plus a baby (who slept the entire time in his car seat so he was fine). The host was obviously not listening to me when he wrote down the reservation for 4 including the kid. Wrong. The host and one of the waiters proceeds to tell us to have a drink in the wine bar (not on them) while we wait for 15-20 minutes for the next table (turned out to be 35 minutes). They really did nothing to try to make up for their error.

When we finally get a table, we are treated to the most inept waiter on the planet. We had to ask for place settings, had to ask for water refills, had to ask for more drinks, had to ask him to clear plates off the table. This is a tapas restaurant, there are a lot of plates and not once did he give us new plates to eat off of. He also put a wrong order it and took forever to come back to the table.

Luckily, the food is great and can stand on its own even with the terrible staff; otherwise it would have been a completely miserable experience. Does management not train anyone?? Now that I mention it, not sure if there was any type of manager there.

Unfortunately, we really enjoyed the food but the service was so unapologetic, that I will never go back there again.

  • Pros: Food is great if you can stomach the staff
  • Cons: staff is not to smart and are happy to be that way

(It is not my job to defend this restaurant, my wife and I are looking for a good place to go)

Your credit card company will often authorize 20% of the gross amount, not the restaurant or even their merchant services company is responsible for doing this. Visa, MC, Amex does this to ensure that there is room enough for you to leave a tip, using the standard 20%, as the person below states. In a few days, that amount will be replaced with the amount you actually tipped, even if it's zero. It can become alarming or even an inconvenience but it's not the the restaurant's fault. Having an inept manager on the other end of the line unable to properly explain the situation is quite another thing. The reader states he/ she was a bartender in a past life but not having run across this situation before is surprising to me.

You'll almost get the same experience here like the Cobras on Beverly Blvd. Same great food! They do have their own wine bar with an eclectic collection of imported wines. The restaurant is almost 4 times bigger. You can actually have a conversation during your dinner and you're not rubbing elbows with your neighbors. Service is not up to par in this location. But overall, this place is a great spot in Los Feliz.

Firstly, we have eaten at C&M's several times (both locations) and had a really good time. On our most recent visit, we went with another couple. When bill time came, everyone had cash but me, so I put the whole thing on my credit card and collected everyone's cash and used it to leave a generous tip. I tended bar for nearly ten years and always tip AT LEAST 20%. I also know that we always preferred to be tipped in cash, so I zeroed out the tip on the receipt and did just that. Three days later, when the charges showed up, the C&M staff saw fit to add in another 20% to my credit card despite my having zeroed out the tip. I called and talked to the manager who seemed quite smug and arrogant about the whole thing. He did not even offer so much as an apology.

As much as I sometimes wanted to mess with the tip section of a receipt when I was bartending, we never would have as it is UNETHICAL and DISHONEST.

You guys are jerks for that and we won't be back!

Cobras on Hollywood has become one of my favorite restaurants again!

I used to live around the corner and come here all the time, absolutely hooked on their artichoke and goat cheese croquettes, sweet potato fries and french toast. It sure has made a lot of changes! The first difference is the new wine bar called Sgt. Recruiter, which for some reason is a French Bistro in a Spanish Tapas joint. I'm not complaining, mind you. We came on a busy Friday night with no reservations, and the wine and cheese we ordered at the bar made the 45 minute wait more palatable.

Anyway - once we sat down, just about the only thing I recognized about the menu was my beloved artichoke croquettes! Our server explained that there's a new chef who revamped the menu about two weeks ago. I was a little nervous not to have my standbys (many things wrapped in bacon) but decided to explore. We started with the croquettes of course, but also got rosemary shrimp and grilled octopus. The shrimp were good, I didn't care for the bed of citrusy fennel underneath it, but I left that for those that like such things. The grilled octopus were phenomenal! Tender, grilled perfectly - I love me some cephalapods, and it's easy to cook them wrong and rubbery, this was not the case here. Then a few of us decided to go for the paella - a bounty of seafood and meat arrived at the table: shellfish, shrimp, chicken, sausage and trout mixed with firm yet moist rice. I also tried some of the duck confit salad which was very good as well.

Time for dessert! Me = creature of habit. French Toast. Yum. Others at the table got a bowl of strawberries in sangria, and the flan. The strawberries look a little boring, but they are delicious!

I wish I lived on this side of town so I could walk here (considering the amount of wine we all drank - I'm glad someone else drove)

Definitely make reservations if you're coming on the weekend, unless you don't mind hanging out in the bar while you wait.

  • Pros: Great for large groups
  • Cons: Loud inside - I recommend the patio

I had dinner there last night. The "B" rating on the front door should have been enough of a warning. The service was nice and everyone was attentive however the food was TERRIBLE! We ordered the mussels. EW!!! EWWW!! They were the worst mussels I've ever has in my life. I thought maybe it was just me and I was being picky (after I ate 3 of them it ruined my appetite...) because my boyfriend kept eating them. However, we decided not to order anything else there and left. After we left he said the mussels tasted like they'd been fished out of long beach harbor. (he didn't send them back because he didn't want to hurt our server's feelings.) The other two things we ordered were patties of grease (tainted with the smell of those nasty mussels). Worst meal I've had all year. Seriously. Not exaggerating.

A friend and I had dinner here last night and were so dissapointed! The service was great but the food...my goodness! If you're expecting any kind of authentic spanish tapas, this place is not the place to go. Our waitress HIGHLY recommended the lentils (said they were best sellers!), and when we got them, they were like little crispy ants in a dish. They tasted and SOUNDED (yes sounded) literally burnt to a crisp! The sugar chili prawns were mushy and really gross. Guess it doesn't help that we lived in spain for 4 months, but I've had better out here. Will not return...unless it's for the olives and sangria.

  • Pros: Service, Sangria, Olives & nuts at the tables
  • Cons: Food - Stay away from the crispy ants (aka LENTILS)

We always have a great time here, our all time favorites are the bacon wrapped prawns, sweet potato fries, bacon wrapper figs, steak very tender, and cooked to perfection, and asparagus dish with nuts. Great Sangria, gets to you pretty quickly. The pace is very busy; therefore, I would recommend reservations in advance. We always sit in the area of our favorite waiter, Anthony. The Maitre'd, has always been very attentive and accommodating. Great place for larger groups. We always wonderful time, and will come back sometime soon.

  • Pros: Good tapas, excellent service!
