Kicked out after being attacked by staff member.
by purplebutterflies at Citysearch
I went to this place in support of a fundraiser of all things. The night started off okay. The place seemed decent and my server, Caroline, was nice and allowed the three of us that arrived earlier to pay with cash and credit. Once our other friends arrived they got Amber, the hostile blonde waitress. She appeared to be irritated about having to wait on tables and spoke in a condescending tone the whole time, making negative statement about how she doesn't split tabs and that we need to figure that out because she didn't have time. Her bad attitude earned her no tip. On that note she returned to our table for no other purpose than to retaliate by confronting one of my friends. She stated in a very sarcastic manner that they don't need our business. She was touching my friend's shoulder in what seemed like an attempt to provoke a fight. It was so offensive I asked the waitress to excuse herself. This only made matter worse. She then walks to my end of the table and starts yelling at me and poking firmly at my shoulder telling me she was both the owner and the manager and that they don't need our business, and that she was courteous to us. I told her twice to stop touching me and when she didn't I stood up and told her she was not being courteous at all. To add insult to injury she then rushes over to the bouncer and lies that I shoved her! We're told to leave and not allowed to speak to the owner. Then to my dissappointment learned that the manager was there that night and was aware of our situation and did nothing about it, in fact stands by her false claim that I shoved her because she is in fact his girlfriend. Horrible management, bad service. Negative five stars.
- Cons: Rude hostile staff, poor management.
Ridiculously horrible experience
by rosesarah at Citysearch
We must've had the same bad waitress as aliota 112. Older blonde, and the most horrific service ever.
She started off as unattentive. She'd take half our order (there were 7 of us), then say she'd be back. She'd be gone for 15 minutes, then repeat. She looked frazzled, so at first I wrote it off as her having a bad day. Bad service, but not horrible. Then she got bitchy out of nowhere. With no reason, she started going off about how "we don't split tickets!" in an snarky tone. (We hadn't even inquired about paying at this point, mind you. We had planned to stay awhile and have drinks and watch the charity show we had come for. But she insisted we pay for our food.) When we started to ask if we could use part cash and put the balance on a card, she just said, "I'm not gonna argue with you, we don't split tickets!".
So, we didn't leave a tip. And we wrote on the card receipt that "we won't tip". When she read that, she came back to our table and, in her now trademark bitchy tone said, "we don't need your business here" ?!?! Excuse me? My friend tried to ask what exactly that was supposed to mean and the waitress grabbed her shoulder and said "we've been nothing but nice to you!" (Wrong person's shoulder to grab though...) My friend stood up and reminded her she had been nothing but rude to us. An argument started between them, bouncers brought in, then my friend was kicked out. The one who wrote the comment on the receipt tried to explain that it was his fault, so if anyone should be kicked out it was him, not her or the rest of us. The waitress responded with "You're all the same!"
Clearly she has issues. We tried to reason with her calmly, but she wasn't having it. We all left. I get the impression she's not the type to take responsibility for her actions. I won't have to deal with it again though, i'll never be back. The worst part though is that it happened at a charity event. Well, at least the cover charge went to a good cause...
- Pros: It seemed like a cool space
- Cons: The worst handling of customers I've ever witnessed
Former O.C. nightclub launches an all-ages Hollywood performance space with artistic edge and local feel.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
A sequel 20 years in the making, this former Orange County-based nightclub known for eccentric poetry readings and groundbreaking performances by Henry Rollins and 10,000 Maniacs has reappeared in a former strip club space on Sunset. The two-story, mirage-themed location is complete with a restaurant, outdoor patio space, art gallery, grandstand and two full bars. The entertainment roster includes everything from live music and cabaret to performance art and installations from a resident theater troupe.
Performed there; soundsystem was great; waitress extra rude
by aliota112 at Citysearch
"I'll go first, and I'll order a water." These words ticked off the blonde waitress so much that she almost refused to serve me, the main performer, telling me, "you should be asking me nicer." Performance went pretty well, but I won't be returning as either a performer or customer. This place was better as a strip club, when the stripper "Ace" was working there. She was hot; this place was definitely not. ABSOLUTE MUST-PASS, even though the waitress, when realizing my friends who came to the show would not be leaving a tip, profusely apologized for being "rude." Damn right, honey. And you can buy the album, babe.
- Pros: For a musician, the soundsystem was awesome, and the show was recorded without hassle.
- Cons: THE BLONDE WAITRESS IS ONE OF THE RUDEST WOMEN I'VE ENCOUNTERED IN MANY YEARS.
Great sound system
by jfmsong at Citysearch
Safari sam has the best sound system in La. Nice big place hooottt chicks hang there. Be careful some are under age. lol. There drinks are grossly over priced. I paid $7 for a half a glass of crappy wine. The waitress wouldn't fill it to the top when I called her out. Super Lame.....
- Pros: Sound system is killer, plenty of parking
- Cons: Pricey drinks.
Old strip-club turns into MUCH NEEDED Hollywood Venue!
by reetercat at Citysearch
I hadn't been inside this building since the place was called, "Girls Girls Girls" when there was a skateboard magazine party that went awry! The new club owners remodeled this old dive and turned it into a great concert venue. There's a mezzanine-type area where you can have some bar food and get an epic view of the stage. In a strange way, I felt a similar vibe to the Rainbow Room! Basically, no matter where you are - you can see the stage. The bathrooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. You won't get "frisked" to walk through the door. I think that there are a ton of all ages shows there too! The kids have a place to go and rock out, (finally!). I have a feeling that Safari Sam's will just get better with time. Thank you for a great place to see a rock show!!
- Pros: Parking Lot, Great Staff, Outdoor patio for drink & smoke!
- Cons: Hot inside, (perhaps that air was broken?)
