Gorgeous Bar
by tomwinters
Kinda like New York at the beach... with only beer and wine. Friendly people, great crowd, strong beer and an immense tap/bottle beer and wine menu.
- Pros: great beer
- Cons: no jukebox
Best 30 something frat party on the west side
by mrbojanglesdad
Once fun bar is now tragic coke den. This place used to be a lot of fun, even though the music is always a bit too loud. But nowadays, it is a giant over-extended frat party, except all the frat boys are 30, and all the girls look like they are still looking to be little sisters. So instead of a fun and chill place, you now have coke heads openly asking for party favors and coke chicas playing the part to a tee. Pathetic. Try Library Ale house or something. anything...
- Pros: Good beer
- Cons: bad people
No Romance? It's Definitely There.

I felt like I had to sign up just to write about this place. It's become my favorite bar on the westside... I even met my boyfriend of almost 8 months here :) It's a really mellow atmosphere with tons of yummy new wines and beers to try. (No hard alchie). That's ok though... I really recommend going Wednesday nights where it gets crowded, but not too crowded. Weekends becomes impossible because the place is so full.
This is a must on the westside!
Sooo Not LA!

Went a couple of Saturdays ago and I loved it! I got there around 10pm and waited alone outside for one of my girlfriends. A friendly couple befriended me and asked me to join them at their table --- I didn't have to line up! Thank god, coz the line outside was getting a bit long. People were so friendly and the bar was so cool. By the time my friend got to the line, there were already about 20 poeple waiting, and she had to wait an hour, as the place isnt that big and they couldnt let any more people in if no one was leaving. No cocktails here - straight up beer or hard liquor. It's really loud inside, so I wouldnt recommend it for a date, but really fun with friends!!!
- Pros: very east coast, no attitude
- Cons: hard to park on venice, line can get long after 10pm
Very Dark, Loungey
by credlich
This is definitely a San Francisco or NY type, relaxed bar. They only serve beer or wine and it is popular; very crowded every time I've been. I think the crowd is attractive, but I can't be sure because they keep the lighting quite low. This is a good place to hang out with a group of friends and relax, but not a fun place for say a girls night out on the town. I've gone a few times for that and we just kind of stood around until we decide to go some place new. But if you're looking for a chic, chill place to hang out....this is a good bet.
- Pros: Decent crowd, unpretentious
- Cons: Too dark, can be boring if you have the wrong expectations
nice place to hang out
by jazzrider2
As this page says, no hard alcohol to be found here. But beer and wine drinkers rejoice. This nicely put together place has just about every beer you can think of, and a great selection of wine. The place gets crowded on the weekend, but it's no impossible to find a seat as it can be in many other popular bars. There are two larger open rooms with plenty of tables and booths, as well as a smaller, narrower room in the middle that looked like a great place to have a private party. Prices are average ($4-6 beers), especially considering the selection
- Pros: nice atmosphere, not pretentious, street parking relatively ample
- Cons: no liquor, loud rock music doesn't quite meld with the atmosphere
Fun bar in the neighborhood
by boardgrrl305
The Otheroom is a fun neighborhood local bar with an amazing beer selection. If you're a hard liquor drinker, keep moving, they don't serve it here. It's also good for dates - it's nice and DARK! Bring your friends, bring you dog, and bring your thrist for beer.
Good beer selection, feels like a NorCal bar
by dmenkes
I was invited here by a buddy who toured the SF bar scene and told me it was like "back home." I figured the other LA bars I'd tried were too "LA" for me so I figured I'd give it a try. I have to say, it did in fact feel like a NorCal bar! The people weren't pretentious and the doormen were cool. I got Delirium ON TAP! I couldn't believe it. They also had Chimay and Lindemans! Anyone who has that much Belgian beer on tap deserves mention. They don't serve food or snacks or anything, so it's a great after-dinner/after-work bar. I've been there a couple times during the week, and once on a weekend where it was much louder and too "LA" for me. During the week it's more chill so that's when I'll be there.
- Pros: Belgian beers galore! On tap!
- Cons: Can get too "LA" on weekends
Good place for week night.

Music deafening and extremely crowded on weekends. Much better on weekdays - just enough people and music volume is lower, although I prefer they lower it a tad bit more. Nice crowd, decent girl to guy ratio (2:3 maybe). No hassle at door. Very dark.
- Pros: Good scene on week nights.
- Cons: Too much of a pain on weekends.
How did this place get a liquor license?
by venicelcl
Went in this darkroom on a Thursday and what a mistake. The doormen was high and tried to shake me down for a $20 spot. I really enjoyed ordering a $12 beer! The bartenders are a mess and could use some training or firing! This place isn't Venice and needs to go away....
