The Saga Continues
by Frytz
As I've stated before, I like this bar. And I've returned since the last incident. Several times in fact. But... when I attempted to join friends there last evening I was refused service and told I was no longer welcome. ARI was the deliverer of this information. He stated to me that the GM had made this decision. When pressed for a reason, he had none. NONE!!! He could give me no reason for the banishment. So I pressed a bit more. He refused to give me the GM's name. And continued to to refuse to give me a reason. Now it seems to me that if you barely have a clientele already, you don't want to loose the one you have. And as I stated before, I had already been in there several times since the last incident written about. In fact, the GM was present on at least two of those occasions. He knows who I am and said nothing to me. Interesting. This is one of the problems with people like this. They like to lord a non-existent power over you. It seems to be a problem that permeates several bars in the area. MATCH is definitely on its way down if it continues to embrace this kind of behavior. Apparently if you voice your opinion in the places to do so, such as this one, you will be treated poorly, disrespected, embarrassed in front of your friends, and removed from the club. No reason. No explanation. No guts. Now, I am well known in this neighborhood and joyfully welcomed in many establishments. I have a large group of associates and we enjoy imbibing in libations from time to time. I guess, Match will no longer be on the list of destinations. Unless, of course, the GM and Ari want to make an apology. I do not appreciate being publicly disrespected for no other reason than placating someone's bruised ego. Hey Ari, ever heard the term "Mutual Respect"? I suggest you aquatint yourself. Customers should do themselves a favor and skip this place. Unless you like barflies and swordfests.....
- Pros: Used to like it
- Cons: ARI is a manager
A lot of the worst and some of the best
by crackerplz
How can a bar be the worst and the best of an area? The bar was stylie, and seemed to be a complete industry hang. The service, on the other hand, was the worst I've ever seen... and I mean EVER. If I were the only one who had an issue, fine, I'll take the blame and say that I was the problem, unfortunately everyone in the group that I was meeting (10 strangers + 2 "friends") said the same thing. As an ex-bartender/bar manager of 10 years in some of the busiest joints in LA, I have some experience.
That place would be the gem of the Valley if they had bartenders that knew how to serve a cocktail instead of serve themselves.
Would I go back, sure, but not as often. Avoid the shorter, thin bartender with black hair and heavy eyeliner - can take 15-20 minutes to get your drink, when she's NOT busy. The service was so bad, I contemplated asking for an application.
- Pros: Cool and stylish hang, very relaxed
- Cons: The worst service I've ever had in my life
Nice NoHo Lounge
by famousblueraincoat
There's a lot to like about this bar. The space is cool and lounge-y. It's great for the neighborhood. I like that it's unmarked, no sign, yet not pretentious. They have TVs for sports types. It canbe kind of empty during the week, but picks up on weekends. Only downside is that the drink prices aren't consistent and are sometimes too high for the neighborhood. I know it's a cool spot and the area is developing, but this is not Hollywood!
- Pros: cool spot for NoHo, lounge vibe
- Cons: drink prices change
Be Very Careful!
by musotica
This club is not safe. The bouncers beat up three girls last nite, left them outside without calling the police. They were in bad shape after they were called "white c****" and "white b*******". Bouncers were 6 foot tall and black. Not a safe place at all!
- Pros: dangerous
- Cons: dangerous
Classy neighborhood lounge with airy appeal draws dates and friends for low-key drinks.

In Short
Brought to NoHo by the impresarios behind Studio City's still-hot hangout Firefly, this lofty neighborhood bar takes over the former Thunderbird Saloon. Consisting of a single high-ceilinged room done up in classic colonial style, this dimly lit, elegant venue is accented by sweeping palm plants, fans and candles. Low-slung couches give lounge appeal to hip locals seeking a romantic setting or friendly, quiet conversation.
BEST IN VALLEY
by cocktailblonde
We are so happy to have stumbled across this place. Now its our favorite place to hang out. It has a classy hollywood look inside, but NO attitude. We were there on a friday and both bartenders were friendly, funny and hot. They poured unarguabley stiff drinks and its not pricey. No line or cover charge, cool music, the owner was even there and so welcoming. A little hard to find with no sign outside - there is a red light over the door. Not a dance club but definitely a place for a date, to gather friends, or an afterwork drink at the bar. The only thing i could think to make it better would be a parking lot - but finding parking wasnt terrible.
- Pros: Affordable, comfortable, great crowd
- Cons: parking, no food
easy to get a drink
by terryfromwitchtaint

- Pros: not over crowded
- Cons: a little loud
What a Find!
by lottifish
This place looked like a hole in the wall from the outside but was very elegant and fun on the inside. Plenty of couches to lounge around on with friends and the drink were tasty. About $6 a piece. Very unpretentious bar staff. I will definetely go back! You do have to find parking on the street however.
- Pros: Pretty, Unpretentious
- Cons: Parking
Great snacks
by bigdaddyzack
I love the little trail mix snack things they serve at the bar - pretty good. Also, the ceilings are nice - nice atmosphere. The drinks leave a bit to be desired - the glasses are smaller than most bars and the pour is a bit stingy however, the price remains on par with other bars ($6-$8). That's the part I think needs improvement. The people are a bit trendy but quite friendly. The couches are comfortable. It's the kind of place you go when you want to sit and have some drinks with co-workers or friends. It's not much of a pick-up place or hot spot. Very mild, very comfortable.
- Pros: Comfy, nice decor, friendly
- Cons: a bit slow, drinks not so good, limited parking
Cool on Lankershim
by sophie411
They finally got this space right. A great place to just hang and relax or to throw back plenty and call a cab. The staff welcomes you and mixes up great drinks for a fair price. The crowd is a good mix of young Hollywood, industry people - who "make it happen" and locals who keep it interesting. You'll always go away from Match with a good story.
- Pros: Drinks, The Room, Crowd & Staff
- Cons: Parking
