When it is openning up again?
by Janelle15
i wonder when this place will open up again because i loved going on a sunday night! the dancers behind the glass make it exciting!
Not what I expected...it could have been A LOT better
by vicky84
The club was not at all what I expected. I expected to see a lot of classy people. I was actually a little intimidated before going because I don't consider myself your typical hollywood person. I don't recomend the club based on my first experience. However, I give it 2 stars instead of one because my friend told me that it is not always like that.
- Pros: the drinks were pretty good
- Cons: Music, crowd (at the time), and no space to dance
please don't waste your time

My friend and I went to this club last saturday although we read the reviews we thought maybe it wouldn't be so bad. BOY WAS WE WRONG, EVERY NEGATIVE THING YOU READ ON HERE IS TRUE. We get there early and there was no line, we had no problem getting in, the bouncer was very nice. As we get in we order some drinks. The bartender was so rude, she was stuck-up, raci** & just a B****. I have never been so discriminated in my life. Then she makes us these nasty F***ing drinks. There was about 4 guys none of them which were attractive & maybe 12 girls. When we realized that there was nobody outside waiting in line. We both decided that this club wasnt going to get any better & just decided to cut our loss (since it cost $40 to get in) and go to another club.
[ However when we made it outside to leave we asked ppl walking by if they knew a good club & this girl told us across the street next to the parking lot there is a club & its good. After waiting in line for 30 mins we get into the club & we had so much fun (so i would highly recommend that club). ] BUT PLEASE DO NOT WASTE UR MONEY ON THIS CLUB, IF YOU LIKE A DIVERSE GROUP OF PEOPLE U WILL NOT FIND IT HERE SO DO NOT GO. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
- Pros: Nothing....
- Cons: terrible service, over priced drinks & parking
Scam alert - don't use open tab

I bought some drinks there, on my card, which came to about 15$. (Had to work tomorrow). Got the receipt, signed it, the next day I check my bank account and they charged a whopping $50 , which is the maximum chargeable. Don't go there, they will screw with you!
wow finally open for dinner early
by clubber4

great small plates
stiff drinks
hot servers
highly recomendended
- Pros: great food
- Cons: not open all the time
Decent (I stress decent) between 11 and 1 only. Turns into sardine can afterwards (based on 6 visits there)

Only go here if you want to namedrop and say "I've been to Basque"
They do a good job of keeping people out because it does get crowded quickly in there. If you don't show up when they open I'd say don't waste your time on a Saturday. You will most likely have to wait in line for 45 minutes and by the time you get in there it will be ungodly crowded.
DJ is usually good. There's girls dancing in cages above the dance floor... pretty cool.
The front room is disguisting like someone mentioned... sometimes it's used as a smoker's lounge... other times it's a room where they play house/techno; no apparent rhyme/reason for it being one instead of the other. There is little to no ventilation in that front room. You are going to stink of cigarettes by the time you make it through that front room.
They make good martini's but most of their other stuff is standard fare... nothing special. Cover is 20 bucks.
Do not ever get their dinner. It was the most repulsive meal I've ever eaten (and the same goes for the other 9 of us that went). Overpriced microwaved garbage... tasted like boil in a bag seafood cooked in dirty tap water. I am not underestimating the taste of dirty tapwater. Those of us who were around for the northridge earthquake can vouch for what sediment filled tap water taste like. Mashed potatoes were instant. We all opted to cut our losses and enjoy the $4 bacon wrapped hotdogs in the parking lot nextdoor afterwards.
The only partially edible part of their dinners was the french fries from one person's order (They weren't really french fries though... it was more of a greasy undrained mess of home fries). Everything was overcooked/revolting/bland/tasted like tap water/small portioned/worst food ever tasted according to the 10 people at the table. The menu was small so we basically sampled most of the menu.
Go here if you're one of those who has to say "I've been to Basque." If you prefer a good place go somewhere else.
- Pros: Good for a notch in your clubbers belt, good scene for about an hour and a half
- Cons: Bad service, rude hero bouncers at front, having to walk through unventialted smoking room when you walk in.
Avoid Monday Nights!!!!
by razman2000
This club's business model is hilarious!!! My friend and I went to this club on a Monday night because it was supposed to be one of the few places "going off" on a Monday. We got there around 11pm (which by LA standards is not early) and it looked really dead from the outside. As we approached the entrance there were about 4 guys standing in line waiting to get in. One of the security guards in a very arrogant voice tells us to not "block the entrace" and stand in line (there was nobody trying to get in or out believe me!). We thought the line was kind of strange too considering it seemed as though there was nobody really inside. We said the hell with it anyway and waited too. 45 mintues later we get to the front of the line (yes there were only 4 people ahead of us) and there is a $20 cover!!! It never even crossed our minds that any club in it's right mind would try charging a $20 cover on a Monday night! Cold, tired, and hopeless we fork over our money like absolute fools and go inside. Inside, there are about 15 guys and 2 fat women standing around staring at each other really really hoping that a mob of people are just going to be let in from the outside any minute now so this place actually turns into a "club" and not a sowing circle. Fools.... There is nobody out there. We cut our losses and leave 10 minutes later. Funny enough, we complain to the security on the way out.... one of them tells us that if we "keep talking sh$t" he'll never let us in again!!! Oh good times!
- Pros: Good example of how not to run a business
- Cons: A complete and utter scam
Avoid Completely!!

Door Host was not helpful to my party of 30+ guests. We had a friend with 3 tables reserved and door host denied our 2x1 entry we had dealt with via e-mail with one of the promoters. When you enter, you walk into a smoke filled room. Yes, the entrance is located at the "smoking lounge." You end up smelling like smoke before you start dancing and dance floor is small. The bar at the dance floor is overcrowded and bar tenders (although hot) are overwhelmed by the # of guest in attendance. One of my girlfriends had to wait 30 minutes to get in and she was by herself. Overall. I'm disgusted by this club and would NOT recommend this to anybody thinking they'd get the Hollywood club experience there.
- Pros: Location. It's Hollywood & Vine. Other clubs near by and metro/cabs are close by.
- Cons: Uppity promoters and door hosts being D*cks!!
basque is cool

I was there on friday oct, 27th and had dinner and thought is was wonderful, the food was very good, esspecially for a night club. It seems like not alot of people don't know that they serve food because there were only a few tables in for dinner. it would have seemed more comfortable if there more people there talking and such, because there was a large party in the back that were loud and obnoxious and all arrived at different times, our waitress seemed like they were giving her a hard time too. In my opinion the service was ok not great. The atmosphere was strange though, i thought it would have been packed on a friday night?
- Pros: great location, tasty food, great bartenders
- Cons: poor service
Food & service horrible. Friday night dancing was good after 11. Read for details.

DO NOT EAT HERE - FOOD AND SERVICE WERE BELOW PAR. I felt like vomitting after eating their hummus. Almost the tapas were greasy (except the mango chicken). All the meals are overpriced. For example, a burger with fries is eighteen dollars... I went on a Friday night (halloween them), and it had a decent atmosphere at after 11 PM. There were go-go girls in simulated red light district booths dancing - so if that's your think, you'll like it. There was also a poorly lit overhead glass room that had a couple girls lying around, again it just added to the club look. The waitress/chef seemed incompetent (we were there with a party of 20) and she brought us out the bill before a couple of guests had even receieved their meal (she thought everyone had already received their meal). In addition, they forgot to serve about 3 of the people their sides. So, to make it easy on you, eat somewhere else, then get there for the dancing. There were some scantily clad women and less than desirable groups that showed up... but nothing too over the top.
- Pros: Music, lighting, crowd
- Cons: Greasy/bad Tapas, Expensive untasty meals, Forgetful Staff
