Don't Go Anywhere Else for Whiskey
by Michael Fran at Citysearch
Where else can you order whiskey, scotch and bourbon from all around the world and play pool with interesting, good looking people? The music is great, like most Ced Moses bars, as is the interior. The back room is great for private parties. If you're lucky enough, see if you can find out about the monthly Whiskey Society pours and tastings.
- Pros: Whiskey Menu, Pool Tables
A great watering hole tainted by obnoxious staff
by Mint Julip at Citysearch
A great watering hole tainted by obnoxious staff way too eager to turf out paying customers once it hits closing time. I've been to Seven Grand on multiple occasions and spent a fair bit of money there. Its a fun place with a good vibe. However, on more than one occasion, the staff changes demeanor dramatically from service with a smile as you order up your tab to "get the [expletive] out" once they decide to close. Its rude and unnecessary.
- Pros: Good drinks and decor
- Cons: Rude staff

Gorgeous place, good drinks, too crowded
by skinnybruce at Citysearch
Worth checking out, but go early on weekends unless you're one of those people that knows what to tell the doormen. Like what they did with the spot and the building has interesting history. Younger crowd on weekends. Decent, cheap ($3) parking right around the corner on Grand, just south of 7th. 3 stars because it's too popular for its own good right now.
- Pros: Beautiful place, bonus if you like whiskey or juleps, bartenders hustle, good choice of beers and ales on draught, no cover charge
- Cons: Gets sardine-packed on weekends, show up at 10:00 PM on a Saturday and you'll wait over an hour to get in, the usual doormen b.s. that you'd expect from any place with doormen
Top-Quality Whiskey (and Whisky) Bar + Amazing Cocktails
by AdamToldYa at Citysearch
Seven Grand is arguably the best whiskey bar in Los Angeles. The only competitor is The Daily Pint, but that's a whole different story, almost apples vs. oranges. With over two-hundred whiskies to choose from -- from single malt Scotch (distillery bottlings and some independents), to rare bourbons, to good 'ol moonshine -- these guys have it covered. And if rocks are your thing, Seven Grand has excellent ice -- if that means nothing to you, shame on you. Great glassware too. The staff is knowledgeable about their whiskey, and deadly serious about their amazing cocktails -- they're part of the recent resurgence of the "craft of the classic cocktail." The decor is oak, brass, and leather meets fancy hunting lodge (plus pool tables of course) and quite masculine. Get here earlier in the night for excellent one-on-one service -- the place gets crowded later, and given the care and attention each drink gets, the bar can get a little wait-y at times. Don't get angry though -- be patient -- and you'll see that the guys behind the bar give whole new meaning to the phrase "good bartender." LA Whiskey Society Says: Hugely Endorsed!
- Pros: Huge whiskey selection (over 200), highly skilled bartenders, mind-blowing cocktails, great space
- Cons: Prices are to be expected given the downtown location and ritzy atmosphere.
An Average Bar
by jilljones1876 at Citysearch
Went to Seven Grand for a Birthday gathering. The crowd that was not with us was really random. The drink s were good and the staff was nice (sick of Hollywood attitude). That's the reason for the three stars... Otherwise would have been two stars... Not my style at all... Need night vision to see because it is so dark!
- Pros: Friendly Staff
- Cons: Too Dark and Weird Crowd
Nice atmo, killer whiskey selection
by DSarno at Citysearch
They have 5 different kinds of Pappy Van Winkel, which gives you an idea of the depth of the selection.
P.s. I wrote this review to test the CitySearch/Facebook interaction.
- Pros: Great happy hour place, great selection, pool tables
- Cons: If you're not downtown already, it's a schlep
Nice little downtown place
by AmandaLewis2000 at Citysearch
I went here with some of my friends, maybe I am not giving this place a fair review since I don't drink, but my friends really seemed to like their selection of whiskey and other spirits. The bouncer at this place is a really nice guy, the second time we went there, he didn't even ask for ID since he remembered us. The interior reminds me of a gentleman's club with dark woods and taxidermy. Not a spot I would spend my whole evening out, but a great place to stop by and get a drink.
Packed on the weekend
by Wrigglesworth at Citysearch
It's a nice downtown bar where the crowd isn't too posh. The decor has a traditional American feel to it - and it wasn't too hard to get in. But man, it was packed on the Friday night we went. We could barely get to the bar to buy a drink. Oh, and if you smoke, there is a nice, accessible patio to chill at.
This bar made me a fan of Whisky
by glazz at Citysearch
I was never really that into whisky before I went to this bar but they turned me around. The decor and liqour selection is great but what impressed me most was the bartenders. I have worked as a bartender before so I usually judge them harshly but they are the real deal. You can tell they take their skills very seriously and it comes through in the qualities of the drinks. It is a very masculine bar but there are a lot of women there too and they tend to be good looking and unlike most of the time in Hollywood bars, interesting to talk to.
- Pros: Great Bartenders
- Cons: A little pricey but worth it.
