Spreading the word about Rumor Mill by Dianne J. at InsiderPages

Rarely disappoints. I eat here at least a few times a month. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, casual neighborhood coffeehouse w/food and wireless, this is it. They use Boar's Head brand in their sandwiches, which kicks up the quality a notch. I like the turkey pesto on focaccia. They also have specials, salads, quiche, and breakfast items served all day. Zucchini bread toasted w/butter is yummy. Soup is just average, though. Espresso is consistent and reliably potent. Haven't used their wifi, but I always see several people tapping away and they look satisfied.
Nice coffee shop with good atmosphere and real food.

This is my standby coffee shop, not far from my home. They have been responsible for many morning pick-me-ups and curing weekend cabin-fever. The coffee is consistently good, and they have a pretty bulky menu with different sandwiches, salads, breakfasty-things on bagels (including tasty lox and creme-cheese, with capers!), as well as the standard fare of fresh pastries daily, fruit-in-a-cup, and other things I can scarf on my way to work. The staff is generally cheery and the service is almost always very fast (they're occasionally swamped, and I think their toasting-machine for things is a little on the slow side, but what can you do). They used to have no-strings-attached internet, and I was disappointed when they implemented a policy where you get a code that's good for an hour with purchase... but, it's hard for me to gripe about this as my mother is a business owner and I can understand how they felt taken advantage of by people coming in to purchase a 1.50 small coffee or whatever and then sitting all day long on the internet. Overall, it's a great place, I've been there many times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - I highly reccomend their daily medium roast, a peruvian coffee. I've never been picky about roasts as long as the coffee is made well but the Peru is AMAZING! Both my roommate and I are totally hooked, it's the best coffee ever. Yay Peru!
Artis support

Good coffee and smooth sweet bread mmm. Is one of the few places in Los Angeles that will display emerging artist work just to give them an opportunity to exhibit they work. That?s awesome motivation and important support for the creative soul.
VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Staff member claiming to be manager became hostile, verbally abusive and physically threatening to myself and another customer when closing time came and our laundry was not yet done. Was forced to leave with a car full of wet clothes.
Same staff member made a weak and tasteless cup of hot chocolate.
There are plenty of options in the neighborhood, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.
- Pros: Lighting
- Cons: Abusive staff, poor customer service
This was one of my favorite spots until today. Service sucked.

I asked the staff to reset the wireless router and they ignored my request. The router was the issue as their direct connections on in house computers were up. Again, they said they would get on it. Again, nothing.
I offered to reset it for them and one staffer said she would fix it and I watched her go to the back to try and "fix" it. She turned the router off, causing the in house computer connections to tank. She didn't bother to turn it back on. All they had to do was admit that they did not know what to do and call the proper management, but no. All of the customers cleared out in the 1.5 hours that I was there. The staff would rather clear the place then fix a problem. I'm disgusted.

The Rumor Mill has great coffee, great food, and a great atmosphere. The prices are decent, not too expensive. They have wireless as well as 4 computers that you can use for free. There are always interesting people there to people watch or interact with. I always try to hit this place up when I am on the westside. They are connected to a laundry mat, so you can do your laundry and relax there.

I was disappointed to find out that they now limit your internet access to 1hr with a purchase. No more nice long afternoons getting work done there. Looking for somewhere else.
- Pros: good vanilla latte and service
- Cons: no more free wifi

I used to frequent this place often to do my laundry, grab a snack, and get work done. However, they have recently raised their prices on laundry and now charge for internet access. They have lost my business.
- Pros: good food, convenient laundry
- Cons: laundry is expensive, no free internet

I moved in down the street and there are about 5 places I could do my laundry, but the rumor mill is the best. Having a place to read or surf while my laundry soaks is great. It really helps make the time go by fast. The coffee is really good, the place is clean, and the people are all nice and warm.
I like having a place to escape the sounds of a laundry. The Rumor Mill makes laundry day fun!
- Pros: Comfy place to wait for laundry to finish.
- Cons: Laundry is kinda small - can be a wait on busy days
Best place to spend time while doing your laundry!

I love this place! I used to do my laundry in scary places with dirty floors, and screaming children. I literally dreaded it, until I found the Rumor Mill! I'm able to do my laundry in their clean front loaders, while I sit comfortably in the adjacent cafe. The ambience is nice, though sometimes it can get a little crowded. However, the food is excellent. The Goat Cheese and Walnut salad is a favorite, although I usually go for the Roasted Pepper and goat cheese sandwich. It's Ammmmazing. Also, the place just makes you feel like being creative. It's perfect to sit and read, or work on something you're writing, or just search the net with their free wireless.
- Pros: Food, ambience, creative atmosphere, semi-secret location, outside seating
- Cons: Parking is kind of a pain, especially when you're lugging a laundry basket for a block and a half.
