Great food!!
by Noodlerss at Citysearch
I love this place. I'm not going to lie- it is a little pricey but you get what you pay for and the food is fresh and great! The service here is also very nice =) I like their oatmeal and quiches. Great place to grab a bite and they make good drinks and desserts!!
- Pros: Good food & nice atmosphere
- Cons: Pricey and sometimes small portions!!
Great place! The food and atmosphere was great!
by lucas80 at Citysearch
I went here for lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed and the line was long but they kept it moving quickly. We were seated promptly and out food wasbrought out shortly after. I had the grilled chicken breast sandwich with pesto. The bread was nice and crunchy, the chicken was flavorful and they put the perfect amount of pesto on it. The salad was nice and fresh but the dressing was flavorless and they didnt put enough dressing on it. I asked for more and it was never brought. I loved the atmosphere. It was very cute. Great place to bring friends or a date.
- Pros: Atmosphere, food and service
- Cons: $20 for a sandwich, small dry salad, drink and cookie. Service was great but they never came back with my dressing!
So sick of the lines, especially at lunch

I wish they would figure out a way to serve lunch so it doesn't take 25-35 minutes to get a salad. If you go anytime between 12 and 2, you will be waiting at least half an hour for your food, even for take out. The food is great, but I would go much more often if they had a better handle on the wait time.
My favorite Urth in L.A.!
by jenheidir at Citysearch
One bite of Urth?s creamy and flavorful pumpkin pie with graham cracker crust, and I was instantly a fan of this cafe. The salads and sandwiches at this counter-order cafe always taste so fresh, like there was a farm in the back of the restaurant or something. Plus, their Spanish latte with honey is one of my favorite coffee drinks ever. (The little foam hearts, swirls and swans they decorate your drinks with are just too cute!) The Urth in Santa Monica is my favorite of the cafe's three location in the L.A., because of the adorable, intimate garden in the back with the tiny fountain that makes you feel like you?re in Europe. There are a couple of downsides, though: The Santa Monica Urth is always very crowded, and street parking can be hard to come by. Then there?s that too-tempting dessert case you have to stare at while you wait in line to order that will put your diet in peril!
- Pros: food, coffee, desserts, patio area
- Cons: crowds, parking limited
Great to go for coffee and dessert!
by shelly1234 at Citysearch
Great atomsphere and fun to people watch as there is always a scene! The desserts are delicious and the coffee drinks are always perfect on a cold evening! (when is it cold in LA?) It's a relaxed, casual atomsphere, and fun!
Great organic food, casual atmosphere
by katy_snell at Citysearch
Urth Cafe has a friendly, inviting atmosphere, and is a great place to people watch. But more importantly, the food is fantastic. Catering to all-organic and some vegan dishes, Urth Cafe is my favorite place to go for healthy food made with fresh ingredients and creative approaches. I especially like their chicken curry panini, and their hummus is good, too. And if you're lucky, you might even see a movie star. This place is ultra-trendy, but I don't even mind because the food is so good.
- Pros: Great food, great atmosphere, great for people-watching
- Cons: Parking is tricky
Great food- but crowded, pretentious.

I adore the cuisine at Urth, I go to their West Hollywood location as well. It's just enough portion wise, and very organic. You have to try their pressed coffee if you like it strong.
I get a very "Hollywood" vibe though. A lot of people who want to be seen. It tends to get crowded, and a couple times, I haven't been able to grab a seat until right before my good was going to come out (about a 10 minute wait!)
It's not cheap stuff, but this is no ordinary cafe. They even have valet parking (yes, I did say it was a bit Hollywood)
- Pros: Amazing food, nice atmosphere if you get a table
- Cons: Crowded, pretentious, a little pricey
One of my favorite places to meet friends for brunch or late night coffee!
by 1041corning at Citysearch
Yes it's a bit pricy, sometimes pertinacious, and can be crowded - but the food is quality, the location is great, the ambiance is tranquil even romantic (patio early morning or after 9pm) . Think of an upscale version of coffee bean. I've gone there for brunch or to meet friends for tea at 11pm. I love this place. I always recommend the patio. The only negative is parking (though they do offer valet, I usually just drive around the block until I find street parking).
I've been to a number of locations but this one on Main is by far my favorite.
- Pros: Ambience, Patio, Quaint, Great desserts
- Cons: Street parking can be tough to find
Urth: Overpriced, overcrowded, and overrated
by cyberoid at Citysearch
The line outside the door suggests an amazing experience inside, but in fact Urth, once you buy your overpriced tea or coffee and sandwich at the crowded bar (service is negligible), is basically the same as the Coffee Bean down the street -- but pretentious. You'll be sitting, crowded, on metal grid chairs around metal tables, the only difference is the flora. Located on one of Santa Monica's busiest streets, Urth's patio is noisy; and on an inclement day, it's COLD. (The interior seating is modest.)
I keep wondering what draws people to this cafe, and there are only two reasons I can surmise: (1) because it looks hip from the outside, nicely architected and landscaped; and (2) people who frequent Urth aren't aware that there are better, hipper, more enjoyable venues with better libations and grub just down the street, in either direction. Impress your date: go to one of them. -- By a Local
best tea in town
by realnbk at Citysearch
Urth Caffe is the best place to go after a heavy dinner. The camomille tea is so soothing that you want to sip it all night. Both Pastries and coffee are a step above your typical Starbucks. Teas don't even compare.
We like to go there to revitalize after a meal and then go out clubbing. Sometimes however we are enjoying the tea so much that we forget to leave. The patio is warm and confortable.
go there any day anytime.
- Pros: tea, coffee, pastries, patio
- Cons: closes at midnight
