Worse restaurant ever horrible experience
by ilana kadosh at Citysearch
Well, this visit CHAPTER 8 was the first time I been there, for my 50th birthday I have no idea what happen that night but the service was horrible we wait about 40 minutes for somebody to take our order... or to bring the ugly food, the restaurant was smell like a bathroom, the menu was different from the web, (misleading the people)when I try to talk to waitress his Unser was sarcastic… they tried to work out after all, but now I have a bad impression of the service they provide, I don’t think I will go back there...or let my fried to go the same experience "
- Pros: Worse restaurant ever horrible experience
- Cons: Worse restaurant ever horrible experience
Very Pretty!
by WorkOfArt7 at Citysearch
This restaurant is very pretty! The color theme is red and the booths are very comfortable. There was a live singer singing Frank Sinatra songs and the whole experience was great!
- Pros: Ambience, Service
best supper club in southern california
by trozen at Citysearch
We were escorted to a suede booth overlooking the main dining room. There was a singer by the name of Luca who sounded EXACTLY like Frank Sinatra. The singer was awesome and definitely set the vibe for this supper club. He performs Wednesday through Saturday night. The design is ultra chic and very slick. It is a throwback to Vegas in the 60's. A great date place as I had dined here before with my GF. As I was now hanging with my buddy it felt oddly romantic.
The server looked and sounded sharp. He recommended a couple great wines by the glass. A Lincourt Chardonnay and a Pinot which I forgot the name of. The wines were very inexpensively priced as the 678 Group prices all their wines well below their competitors. We had a seafood platter which was kind of expensive, but unreal! I had the wedge salad and my buddy had a lobster bisque soup. This soup was one of the tastiest soups I have ever enjoyed. Since the restaurant is so romantic, I figured "Why not, I'll share his soup." The pretzel bread they brought out was piping hot and you dunk it in this melted blue cheese sauce. We ordered a 12 oz. Filet and a Kansas City Strip. Both were medium rare and cooked to perfection. The rub they use on their steaks is so awesome. We had the "locked and loaded" mash and the mushrooms. We finished the evening with a chocolate decadence cake and some espresso. All good.
The GM approached our table and thanked us for coming. He has been at Chapter 8 for 2 years and admitted that they had some struggles in their early going. Don't all restaurants?? They now have a great chef who was previously the Executive Chef from Mastro's. Their service staff is really well trained and responds to every small need (our waiter requested the valet to bring our car forward so we wouldn't wait). Chapter 8 is a big winner.
- Pros: food, service, atmosphere
Ultimate dining experience
by mclaudia at Citysearch
This place is not only gorgeous, but the food, servide and ambience are unbelievable! A Sinatra-like singer performed throughout the night even taking requests of our favorite classics. Their steak (petit filet) was cooked perfectly and complimented with the to-die-for "locked and loaded" mashed potatoes- the guiltiest pleasure ever. Also tried the fish and was surprised at how succulent and flavorful. I expected their steak to be amazing- it's a steakhouse!- but would highly recommend their seafood entrees as well. Table side visit from the chef who made dessert recommendations. Very nice touch. The apple dessert tasted like my grandmothers! Dining at Chapter 8 is worth every penny.
- Pros: Live music- Sinatra singer, pretzel bread, fun cocktails
- Cons: Not open on Sun or Mon

Service not that good, for the money
by bookwalker at Citysearch
Had dinner her with a group of business associates. The place looks great / hip, with live entertainment, although the music was too loud for me. Regarding the food and service: for a restaurant that serves $40 steaks ( side dishes & other course are extra ), the overall experience was a disappointment. The steak was cold, and actually pretty tough. The Scotch, ordered straight up, came on the rocks. There was no salt, no salt after I asked for it ( the first time) and no salt after I asked for it ( again ). At the end, I kept asking the waiter for a take-out box for my cold steak. It never came.
- Pros: Cool place
- Cons: Service, value

A little Chic outside hollywood
by ediesedgwick at Citysearch
I love this place - Thursday night shows 20-somethings dancing and drinking and generally having a good time.
The food is good - it is overpriced and the wait staff not as kind as I would prefer, but the atmosphere is great - they have a lovely outside patio with a fireplace - the bartenders are very nice and the crowd is fun. The DJ plays good music and the dance floor is well sized.
Better bar overall however
But one does not feel they are in Agoura.
- Pros: Chic and Fun
- Cons: A bit overpriced
HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE FOOD, Nice Decor...that's it!
by angelablue at Citysearch
DO NOT EAT HERE! Don?t get me wrong, this place has very nice decor with it?s plasma screen TV?s playing classic movies from the 1920?s and up. However, the food is highly overpriced and is not at all what you would expect as far as taste and creativeness. Don?t be fooled by ?make a reservation? whether or not you have a reservation, it?s literally first come first served. We had a reservation for 8pm and got seated 2 hours later! Apparently there were a group of girls who had finished their dinner hours ago and where just sitting at our table chatting and having cocktails, while we were left standing and waiting because no one felt they had the right to kindly ask them to take it to the bar. The hostess lady was very rude and the minute we would ask her a simple question like, ?where?s the manager?? she would have an awful attitude without answering the question, and at one point put her hand in our face, and walked away. Her co-worker said that the hostess has been having a ?bad day? and not even she, offered to help. Believe me I could go on. To make matters worse, the manager finally came around and the best he could do to accommodate us for such awful service, was to give us ?free? disgusting appetizers that none of us touched. If you are looking to have a quick drink, it?s Ok. But even that depends, they usually pack the place up so tight that you can?t even walk. All in all, the best thing about that place was the decor, just think of it as a Wanna B Hollywood in Agoura Hills, with cool decor, but even in Hollywood you get what you pay for. Unlike this place, highly overpriced (including entrance), no walking room, with disgusting food and horrible service. Go to Buddha Lounge!
- Pros: Decor
- Cons: Too Crowded, Service, Food, Highly Overpriced, Long Wait for Reservations.
Typical Oversell and Under Deliver
by bjack at Citysearch
This place claims to be a legitimate steak house. I think not. I was there last weekend and was extremely disappointed. I ordered the striploin (supposedly the most flavorful dish on the menu). The waiter might want to rethink that statement. Just because i order it medium-rare (as any steak connoisseur would do) doesn't mean it has to be served cold. LIterally, the plate was ice cold and the slab of meat even colder. i was afraid to send it back because they probably would have just reheated it (then it wouldnt be medium rare). Not that everything was bad, they did serve a great grey goose rocks at the bar, although it is practically impossible to screw that up. This place may be a great bar/club scene but the food is no match against the mastro's of the world. the double something or other potatoes were good. cheers
- Pros: atmosphere, potatoes
- Cons: food, steaks
