Fusion just means less authentic
by besmithy at Citysearch
It is not clear what makes this place a fusion restaurant, as almost everything on the menu appears Japanese. However, it was substantially less tasty than real Japanese. The first thing I had, the miso soup, seemed suspiciously to be made with chicken broth. The eel sauce on my unagi bowl was also not quite right, nor were the garnishes- a weird combination of tamago, pickled ginger, and raw cucumber... it was all way too sweet.
My boyfriend had the spider roll, which was okay, but a much smaller portion than at other restaurants, and the fake crab overwhelmed the portion of real softshell crab in the roll.
Finally, we found dessert (the menu is entirely ice cream) to be less than fresh, with ice cream cake straight from the deep freeze- hard and a bit frosty.
- Pros: Typical prices with some specials
- Cons: Small portions, less than authentic

we rented out the largest room for a private party - it was just tons of fun and everyone had a great time. parking is easy, the location is central, and the staff is very helpful and nice. the food is delicious and well-priced. will be back, and wouldn't hesitate partying here again!
- Pros: great food, location, parking, karaoke, private rooms
- Cons: the ac wasn't working, but they brought a fan
Best Sushi spot on the westside, Fun, young and hip atmosphere. Sushi chefs are very courteous. Friendly Staff. I would highly recommend.

I love the fresh fish! I've been coming here for over a year and will continue.
They also have awesome karaoke in the back area, great for parties.
Great Food, Great people, great atmosphere!
- Pros: Food, Service, Staff
Better than I thought it would be

I was a bit wary with "fusion sushi" I didn't really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The menu has plenty of traditional sushi for people like me and the fusion rolls were actually quite tasty. Try the Whisky&Soda back roll.
The service was good. Sometimes the service at Sushi places can be frosty but they were very nice here.
Not bad but nothing special

We went there with 8 people. We all ordered a sushi roll and then a few hot dishes and share everything. The service was good as they were prompt and responsive. The rolls were good, not great, but the first was good and they had a pretty large selection. The hot food was pretty average too. It was pretty average but not a bad place to go if you want to sing or want to sit outdoors. The decor and atmosphere is pretty nice.
- Pros: Decent prices, decent food.
- Cons: Nothing bad about the place
Try the Ichiban roll!!
by geminigirli at Citysearch
I love coming to Zip because its so easy. I like to sit outside and drink and hang out with friends. It has a laid-back vibe, friendly staff and its not pretentious at all. I felt compelled to write a review because I've noticed a truly positive change in their food/menu. I recently tried the Ichiban roll...it had salmon and mango inside, spicy tuna on the outside topped with shrimp. Absolutely delish! They are also a great spot for larger parties (been there for more than a couple bdays) and for all you closeted singers like me they have private karaoke rooms.
- Pros: Laid-back spot, outdoor seating, sushi bar, karaoke
- Cons: Street parking is annoying at times. I use the underground lot.
Great lunch special!

For $7.99 - Miso soup starter, Sushi roll and 4 pieces Nigiri Sushi, Delicious Grilled Chicken on Top of Salad with an amazing dressing (I must get the recipe!).
great back patio
by jstemps at Citysearch
this place isn't in the greatest area, but once you are seated in the back patio you feel like you're nowhere near downtown LA. its a great little oasis with pretty good sushi/sake bombs.
- Pros: cute back patio, good sushi
- Cons: hard to find, seedy area
Not the same...

This particular location is no longer a sister tho the Arts District location. Our server informed us that the change occurred a few months ago. I was skeptical that the quality was the same when at 8:30pm on a Friday night most of the restaurant was available for seating. The sushi menu had changed and the regular menu had some differences. The server said the menu will be changing soon. I was a little excited because the baked lobster roll is still on the menu and our server said it was the same. Unfortunately, this was not the case. No eel sauce, no mushrooms, no onions and lobster that was so over-baked I think it could pass for jerky. We only ordered two rolls and didn't finish the lobster roll so, at 9:30p we asked for another. 40 minutes later we still hadn't received the roll and our server hadn't stopped by once. We found her and canceled the order and paid our bill. Make the extra effort to travel Downtown LA.
- Pros: Validated parking
- Cons: Service, Quality
Excellent sushi

Zip Fusion has always had great sushi. But since they hired a new sushi chef it's better than ever. The sushi is super fresh and the dishes are innovative and exciting. I eat a lot of sushi all over LA and Zip Fusion has got to be one of the best sushi restaurants in town.
- Pros: fresh fish, innovative rolls
- Cons: limited parking
