Trendy Salon....
by jls1521 at Citysearch
I have had a couple of bad haircuts at this place, but for the most part I have been pleased with the results. The people are very friendly and always have a good story to tell. The location on Melrose is great. I recommend this place for a nice, affordable haircut.
- Pros: People Watching, good value
Great Cut

Scott Riffe
by Yahtzee at Citysearch
Scott never fails to do a great job on my hair, its unfortunate that he no longer works at Floyds. As for the negative comments about him below, I have no idea what these people are talking about. He's entertaining, personable, funny but most importantly he does his job very well!!! Floyd has lost a irreplaceable talent.
- Pros: Entertaining & Great Cut
- Cons: None
RIFFE IS THE MAN!
by EdwardPollard at Citysearch
I've had Scott cut my hair many times and each time he brings new character to what I thought was almost hopeless hair. I trust him every time and that's a huge relief. I've had very few "stylists" or barbers seem to care how I look a week or a month after I leave their shop. Scott removes the worry factor. Now, if you've got unreal standards and want to look like the picture of someone else but don't have the same hair or want him to read your mind, of course you're going to have a bad experience.
Talk to him, let him be himself and if you get a vibe you can't handle, speak up, he's flexible and very humble when prompted. Don't mistake a fun attitude for being full of himself. Get a life, you losers. It's a freakin' $20 haircut from a guy who trained deeper than you can imagine. Stop trying to chop him down because your freakin' ego is out of control.
- Pros: Listens, knows what fits, funny, easy to talk to.
- Cons: Only if you're uptight and have barber phobia.
Laaaaame cut from Riffe
by ValleyChick at Citysearch
My regular guy Tony was off so got a haircut from Riffe instead and he's awful. My fringe is lopsided and my layers are uneven. Worse was listening to him brag about "celebrity" clients he used to do that I've never even heard of. Floyd's should send that tool back to beauty school. Tony is good though so go see him. 1 star for Riffe and 4 for Tony.
- Pros: Economical price
- Cons: Some bad stylists
Great spot to get your hair cut
by DavidHaar at Citysearch
A very cool spot to get your hair cut without breaking the bank. the atmosphere is great and located right on Melrose.
Prices are reasonable and I think they do a good deal for your first time in. Highly recommend!
- Pros: Atmosphere
they fixed my fried Sirens Salon hair!
by HollyWoodhills at Citysearch
I went Floyd's after a terrible experience with Kristin at SIRENS SALON up the street...
I want everyone to know they fixed my super fried hair
and now I just have to grow it all back after what the other salon did it me!
go to a salon thats busy and w/ a stylist, you can see
their skills right away, so don't wait till they it hurts & they
ruin your head and then laugh it off like it looks cool!
- Pros: everyone there is so supportive
- Cons: loud
Riffe's Your Guy For Good Haircuts
by ArrrFixMeHairMatey at Citysearch
Every place I have gone to get a haircut in LA is not only $60 dollars or more, but the people giving the cuts just tend to do their own thing, ignoring what you ask them to do. Riffe listens, is personable and gives you the detailed cut you ask for at less than half the price of most Hollywood stylists and barbers. They say in life it's crucial that you have a good lawyer, accountant, doctor...and barber. -John Shires
- Pros: Does EXACTLY to your hair, what you ask him to.
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
but stay away from Riffe
by lasgirl at Citysearch
went to Floyds for the first time in December and LOVED it. the guy who cut my hair is no longer there but i decided to go again, thinking others working there would be equally cool, interesting, and creative. well they passed me to Riffe. what a disaster. he's totally full of himself. and he destroyed my bangs. not that hard to cut bangs is it? truth is, i could have handled a so so haircut from someone who was nice and didn't act like he was gods gift to women and hair. i'd rather wait 3 hours than get another cut from this guy. my hair is boring, my bangs look stupid, and i spent 20 minutes listening to a self-absorbed moron. don't do it!
- Pros: cool decor; funky people
- Cons: kind of snooty and not up front about the costs
Sometimes you don't even get what you pay for!
by lvee123 at Citysearch
I got my first and last cut by Riffe! I took a risk trying a new stylist and learned my lesson. I could?ve cut my own hair at home and gotten the same result for free. Not only was my cut boring and lacking style, he was full of himself and had inappropriate comments. I don?t need a flirty chatterbox, I need someone who will listen to what I ask for and give me a great haircut. Melrose is overrated as is this barbershop and Riffe.
