Great Brazilian food
by tsayegh
I highly recommend this Brazilian restaurant! I went there last evening, I was really hungry, and when I got there with my husband, I was skeptical, because the place is small and very simple, and then I said, it's Ok, I'm not looking for nothing fancy anyway, but the place is so warm and cozy I felt like in my home in Brazil. The waitress came to us with a big and beautiful smile; the owner came to us like they know us from long time already, so nice and soft. And the food came less than 5 min, and I'm telling you, the food was delicious, OMG! Oh and the price great! No expensive at all. They full our plate with food, I could eat all! Well I gave 5 starts but this restaurant deserves 10 or 100 stars, believe me. Congratulations to the staff, the owner and of course to the chef.
Great wine bar!
by CarmenLain
Great food and excellent wine bar!! Amazing wine list, one of the best in the city. I love the vibe!
- Pros: Amazing wine list, great prices.
- Cons: Sometimes crowded.
Killer Brazilian food that keeps you coming back for more and more
by lasnipster
I LOVE THIS PLACE, the food here is so mouth watering with great flavor. I am here all the time with friends or my bf. We both can't get enough of the Biefe Tropicalia dish, the portions are excellent, the atmosphere is charming and intimate. The staff is always pleasant without any attitude. The beer selection is excellent, but you have to try the sangria. Very good. This is the real deal that all the locals know and so should you!
- Pros: The wine and cheese bar that's connected.
- Cons: sometimes parking is difficult
Tasty Veggie options at a Brazilian restaurant
by veggielvr
Being a vegetarian, I usually stear clear of Brazilian restaurants, but decided to give this one a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The veggie platter is scrumptious - the sauteed veggies were very flavorful, and it came w/ polenta, salsa, rice, beans, and a delicious cilantro sauce. I would also try the salads w/out meat. Looked really good.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Parking
Great Ambience and Food
by ondar
Great service and experience thanks to a great vibe and warmth of the decor. Renato is a great host and manager. Try sampling the wines that are suggested to you and they will not disappoint. Get there early as the location is small which also adds quite well to the excellent ambience. BTW - they have beer too!
Cheers!
- Pros: Great staff
- Cons: None
Two Thumbs Up
by phats
I've been in the neighborhood for a long time and grew up eating at Farafalla next door. When this place opened I was very excited because it's by the same people and they did not disappoint. I have to say that this place is one of the best in the area. The food is incredible and very well priced... the burger and the skirt steak sandwich are insane! The chicken dish (with a salad) is one of the tastiest chicken I've ever had. The ribs and the pork are both bursting with favor! And the special "green" sauce is out of this world! In short, it pretty much seems that everything on the menu is awesome.
Great wine selection and a very friendly staff.
I have been there many times now and have not experience any of the issues some of the other reviews have mentioned.
I definitely give it two thumbs up and highly recommend!
- Pros: Food, service and price... full package
- Cons: Zero
Tropicalia, not real authentic.....
by hollywoodhills
If you want over-priced, very basic while still trying to be Brazilian food, eat here.
The food is not very authentic and for the prices you may want to try other Brazilians in Glendale or Burbank. Note: their beverages / wine is in the window, right in the sun's path. Not a good idea.....
Try Bossanova on Sunset. Much better for authentic food, decor and ambience.
This place tries to be trendy, but doesn't really make it. The wine bar next door has some awful wine, some foreign and is disappointing and midas turn into a general bar by the clientele that it attracts. It doesn't keep it's credit as being a nice wine bar. Very much like the Drawing Room but better decor.
- Pros: close to home
- Cons: everything else about the place
Great food and great prices
by ewyner
My parents went here on Christmas eve. Its a small place, but has great food and a large wine selection. We had the Braziribs, which are cooked for 4 hours, and they were incredibly tender. We also tried a few other dishes that were amazing.
- Pros: Cheap food, totally filling and delicious
- Cons: Small dining room
Good but could be better Brazilian
by futondesk
Tried out this place with some friends with mixed results. I wanted to get something different so ordered the boneless pork short ribs braised for hours with "fried" polenta and some powder. the rib meat was succulent and tender, reminiscent of osso bucco and korean galbijjim (braised short ribs in a soy/garlic/sugar sauce). the polenta wasn't exactly fried. it was an unseasoned blob hidden under all that juicy rib meat. We had empanadas as appetizers that I thought were sub-par. The beef one had chunks of tough beef with no flavor and the cheese one exploded with an overdose of cheese upon cutting it open -- way too cheesy and heavy. I wished they offered brazilian cocktails but they only had wine and beer as alcohol. wine selection was decent and the argentine malbec I had was pretty good. The sides were good. We had plaintains and fried yuca, and both were solid. My only complaint is that the yuca portion could be more generous. There must have been like 6 pieces of fried yuca on our plate. My friends had the fish in a heavy cream sauce that looked suspect and the other two had the standard beef and chicken tropicalia. the beef seemed to be more popular than the chicken. atmosphere was not that great but I suppose people would go to the adjacent bar for that. service was spotty. One of my biggest pet peeves is when we get the check before we even ask for it. that's outright rude, unless it's closing time and the wait staff needs to go home, which wasn't the case this time. I may return if i'm in the area, but not go out of my way.
- Pros: good pork ribs, plaintains, yuca, wine list
- Cons: spotty service, soso ambience, bad empanadas and small sides' portions
Good food, AVOID table next to restroom
by herbal
My boyfriend & I found this restaurant during the summer. While the food is fresh and unique, the service
is lacking. One time we sat outside next to the parking area and was ignored for 10 minutes. No water, waiter or menu. When the food arrived we didn't have any silverware. Recently we went for a late dinner and was
seated at a table very close to the restroom. Stinko!!! They need to address this situation. Also, management
yelling at chefs during business hours should be avoided.
Positives-Friendly hostess, reasonable price, nice wine list and great salads.
