FINANCIAL LIFESAVERS!

I recently went through the bankruptcy process and can't thank the law firm of Michael Berger enough for getting me through it all. Sofya Davtya, Yathida Nepa and Jennifer Phan are experienced, knowledgeable and very patient in helping me get though a painful time. Like many, I found myself deep in debt and caught in the housing crisis. The decision to file was not an easy one and I"m thankful to have found such an experienced and compassionate team to work with. They are very detailed and thorough and will patiently explain all the options available to you. I highly recommend this firm.

BANKRUPTCY MASTER!!

During the 2008 crash my business in Beverly Hills took a big hit. That coupled with an unreasonable landlord made it insurmountable to better my situation. Yearly rent raises to 30k per month plus payroll and overhead dictated my future. The fact that I was able to exist as long as I did was a testament to my abilities as a leader and to manage stress.

Finally the time came when I was forced to make the decision to declare bankruptcy. I was recommended to Michael Berger who not only stopped the attacks I was struggling to endure, he also provided me with an exit strategy that has now allowed me to bounce back quickly to be even more successful in business than I was before!! He knows all of the players in town that you have to deal with and treats your case with logic and sensitivity. This is not a failure but indeed a new beginning thanks to Michael Berger and my friend for the referral.

I have seen Michael Berger in court, and he is awesome. He saved me $235,000.00! We had an evidentiary hearing before United States Bankruptcy Court Judge Geraldine Mund on the value of one of my investment properties on Friday, March 16, 2012. The creditor, JPMorgan Chase Bank wanted to value my property at $910,000 but we were trying to get that down to $675,000.

Mr. Berger and I worked together as a team, along with his Associate Attorney Michael Avanesian. We prepared our witnesses thoroughly, including an appraiser, a real estate broker, a structural engineer and a contractor. Mr. Berger got great testimony from each one of our witnesses, and he did a great job cross- examining the lender’s appraiser. Mr. Berger succeeded in keeping out evidence that the lender tried to introduce at the last minute. Judge Mund called what Chase’s lawyer tied to do “trial by ambush” and refused to admit the so called new evidence. I never even had to testify. From top to bottom, Mr. Berger made sure there were no gaps left.

The appraisers were both good, but Mr. Berger was so convincing at discrediting the creditor’s appraiser that Judge Mund began to directly question the appraiser. At the end of the trial, Judge Mund said that both attorneys were “excellent lawyers.” However, she then agreed with Mr. Berger on every single point and ruled 100% in my favor.

Mr. Berger convinced Judge Mund that our appraiser was more experienced and more credible. Mr. Berger convinced Judge Mund that the bank appraiser’s method of subtracting $100,000.00 from the value of a property that needed $200,000.00 in repairs did not make any sense. In her ruling, Judge Mund repeated Mr. Berger’s arguments. If you need someone to fight for you and win against big creditors like JP Morgan Chase Bank, then you need Michael Jay Berger and his law firm to represent you. He did a great job for me.

They are the BEST!

Going through bankruptcy yet alone entering a law office is a very stressful time. But the Law Offices of Michael Jay Berger dispelled any of the anxiety I incurred during the toughest decision I had in my life, which was filing for Ch 13. During our initial meeting Mr. Berger was very professional and courteous. He understood our family situation and walked us through the stages of Ch 13. He was very attentive and patient to the many questions we had about the whole bankruptcy process. Our point of contacts from beginning till end was Sofya and Yathida and they made it as painless as possible. None of my many emails and phone calls went unanswered and was quickly responded to by email or by phone. These ladies deserve a raise. From all the scary stories you hear about filing for bankruptcy, Michael, Sofya and Yathida made this filing as smooth as can be. Sofya Davtyan and her paralegal with Law Offices of Michael Jay Berger are truly the best. Sofya walked us through the process and was very responsive to all of our inquiries. During our initial meeting with her, we also had the pleasure of meeting with Michael Berger. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered our questions re dischargeability of tax debt. We recently received our discharge notice. Thank you Sofya and Michael for an excellent work.

FYI: the quote you'll obtain from this law firm for such a high quality of work is nowhere to be found. You deal with attorneys and all your legal inquiries are answered by attorneys vs other law firms where 99% of the time you only see and talk to a paralegal.

I was recommended this law firm by a friend of a friend. I had never had anything like this happen to me and was scared and concerned and full of questions. Attorney Minha Rhee was patient and helpful, guiding me through my options and keeping me informed throughout the process. Bankruptcy was difficult to go through personally, but the help I received from the staff at this law firm made my load a little less heavy, and were able to re-assure me that this process was the right step to take in my situation. If you are at a point in your financial life where bankruptcy might be your only option, I recommend the offices of Michael Jay Berger.

Bankruptcy Expert - The Best!

Michael Jay Berger and his staff did a phenomenal job in handling our bankruptcy case. Initially our situation qualified us for a Chapter 13; however, as our circumstances changed we then qualified for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Mr. Berger went through all the necessary arrangements from completing the legal documents to ensuring appointments and our responsibilities were met. He did all this without missing a beat.

He and his staff walked us through all the proceedings including documentation, on-line mandatory certifications, setting up meetings, being present at all court appearances, etc. At one point, one of his staff members (who was our primary contact) had to take a leave of absence. Her leave was from the workplace only. She gave us her personal cell number to contact her if we had any questions or concerns. You don’t receive this type of commitment and loyalty from very many people or firms. In my opinion, she went above and beyond. Mr. Berger met us on a Saturday (for our convenience) regarding procedural issues to which we had questions. Every person that we dealt with was more than capable of handling all inquires.

If you want to have a stress free (as much as possible under these circumstances) bankruptcy case with a team that will guide you throughout the processes, then Michael Jay Berger is the right person for you. His cost is more than reasonable for the amount of time and work that was put into a successful closure to our situation.
