Best Cream Puffs in LA

by porkjello

I've told many people that this place has the best cream puffs in all of Los Angeles. The only place that has better cream puffs is in Hawaii. I'd rather have a cream puff here than some overrated yogurt and one of those colored fruit named trendy places.

  • Pros: Cream Puffs
  • Cons: Hollywood and Highland can be tough to get to at peak hours

Pipin' hot pastry puff phenomenon heads west for Hollywood fame.

by Contributor

In Short
At the base of the Hollywood & Highland complex, a narrow storefront leads to a streamlined, well-lit interior where servers decked in chef hats respond to pastry requests by eager patrons. Already a hit in the Big Apple, customers watch while the sous chefs dispense made-to-order cream custard into puff shells topped with sprinkled sugar. Additional confections include a cheese cake stick, double chocolate eclair and chocolate fondant.

yummy flavors

by juju13es

My mom would always buy me cream puffs from bakeries while I was growing up, so I stubbornly decided that this place was just overpriced and not any better than my childhood cream puffs. However, my friends persuaded me to try their cream puffs, and I was amazed. Their puffs are huge and their cream is more dense than the ones I used to eat. But the best part about Beard Papa that sets them apart from the other generic cream puffs is their variety of flavors. I tried the green tea, expresso, and strawberry... and I still can't decide which one is my favorite!

  • Pros: delicious puffs, flavors
  • Cons: a bit pricey for my liking

Delicious Cream Puffs

by lwmango

I first tried Beard Papa's cream puffs in NYC and was very excited when they opened a branch in Hollywood. The pastry is light and fluffy and the cream lightly sweet and flavorful. They have a rotating batch of flavors that change on a daily basis, my favorite is the seasonal pumpkin. A little on the pricey side, but that keeps you from indulging too often!

  • Pros: Friendly Service, Fresh Products
  • Cons: Price

Giant cream puffs

by cartrinh

Giant cream puffs. Lots of cream. Good. If you like that stuff... I like the chocolate fondue they have. The cream puffs are better than average.

Best creampuffs I've had

by dmenkes

I've had the opportunity to try both the vanilla and chocolate creampuffs, as well as the vanilla eclaires with chocolate drizzled on top. They're amazing! I've taken the chocolate ones home and had them with a glass of red wine.

  • Pros: excellent dessert
  • Cons: limited parking

Long awaited cream puff

by leeniemae

I love Beard Papa's vanilla cream puffs. I've had them in Tokyo long ago and am so happy they have LA locations. I went to the Sawtelle location and got both the traditional vanilla cream and the chocolate eclair with vanilla cream. It was just as tasty as what I've had in Tokyo. The portion is perfect as a snack or dessert. If you're looking for a new dessert, try these cream puffs.

  • Pros: tasty vanilla creme puff, fast take out
  • Cons: tough sawtelle mini mall traffic/parking

Best Cream Puff ever!

by emrobinette

The cream puff with regular vanilla cream is the best. I am not a huge fan of cream puffs but, this one is so good. The cream inside is silky, rich and utterly delicious. Everyone should go there!

only cream puff i'll ever eat

by sidandsophia

i'm not really a huge fan of cream puffs, but i'll say beard papa definitely changed my mind. we went to the one on sawtelle/olympic a couple weeks ago and got one each plain and chocolate. they went great with our coffees. yum! later, we put the leftovers in the freezer overnight and they made a great 'breakfast' the next day, haha. the cream was still yummy and didn't get all over the place. the sawtelle one didn't have eclairs or the cheesecake-on-a-stick, but we're headed to hollywood & highland tonight, so we'll have to try it there.

Excellent & Friendly

by opusdesign27

I just want to say that I never liked custard until I tried Beard Papa's. I walked in there for the first time months ago and ordered 1 of everything. I liked all of it, but realized that the cream puffs are to die for. They are so perfectly sweetened and fresh. They are creamy and fresh and you can taste the quality and thoroughly enjoy the simplicity of them. They also have "featured" flavors that are great as well, but the chocolate eclair and regular cream puffs are my fave. The staff is always friendly and smiling and the store always seems to be very clean. Must check them out.
