My Cut EXCEEDED all my expectations

It had been years since I allowed any curly hair specialist to cut my hair. I had been used to crying after haircuts even from some of the top stylists in town, but this was a completely new wonderful experience. Alyson spent a generous amount of time asking questions about what I wanted and worked in such a detailed way that resulted in my cut Exceeding all my expectations:) I highly recommend her to anyone. I also was grateful to learn about all kinds of interesting ways to help my health as she has a wealth of information to share.

Perfectionist!

Alyson is very meticulous and thorough! I have never been to a stylist that took the time and effort that she had with me. She made each strand perfect (my hair color is so natural)- it's unbelievable! I get stopped all the time by women whod ask me who I go to for my highlights. I think I've found several new clients for her already! :) On top of all this, Alyson is one of the sweetest and most genuine people I have ever met. Alyson is so kick back and the conversation was so easy. She's not like most Hollywood stylist who act like they're God's gift to hair! I had a great time with her, so now I not only have a new hairdresser, but a new friend. Thanks, Alyson. Let's have lunch soon, girl! Call me when you're free!

AMAZING CUT....best experience in LA yet!!!

I was hesitant at first because of the multitude of overpriced "celebrity" stylists this city has to offer, but my search is now over...Allyson Powell is great. Great cut, beautiful salon, I feel great about it (expecially after a string of expensive blunders) beautiful lady, and after loggin on here, i see why she won those awards the last two years 5 stars!!!!

• Cons: parking can be tough, but they have some space in the back

Alyson is absolutely AMAZING!

Alyson provided me with hands down the best hair cut experience of my life and I can't wait to go back! I came across Alyson's services while searching for a curly hair specialist and was impressed by her wonderful reviews. She gave me a thorough consultation and such an amazing cut that I could not believe that my hair could look so amazing. The shape of my hair is now so much more complementary to my face and personal style. My curls look so healthy, bouncy and happy under Alyson's care. She took her time to do her best work , while so many other hair stylists give a bad cut because they don't really know how to cut curly hair and rush through to get to the next patient. The before and after was so impressive that we took some photos for her website. Alyson is such a nice, warm, sincere person to boot. Thank you Alyson and I hope to see you again soon!

Best Cut - Alyson Powell

Alyson Powell = best haircut! I recently moved here from Chicago, and choosing from L.A.'s many highly rated salons, proved to be quite a challenge. Having had two bad haircuts elsewhere (at known salons), my hair was a mess. After getting acquainted with Alyson over the phone and then again in person, and upon her careful observation, I was confident she knew just what to do. She took her time, stayed focused and never once let herself get distracted. I was very impressed. It has been years since I have had a great "curly" cut and since my hair is a work in progress (recovering from the previous bad cuts), I am actually looking forward to our next haircut. In the meantime, I am on board for highlights and another interesting chat with Alyson!

BEST salon for highlights!

I got my hair highlighted a few weeks ago and it looks fantastic. My hair is very curly, and after finding Alyson on Citysearch, I knew she was the lady to go to. She promised natural looking highlights--the results are beautiful. Its been about three weeks and I get compliments constantly, and I've never been happier with the color.

I have extremely curly hair and have spent my entire life trying to find someone who could cut it properly! I've lived in big cities like New York and Chicago, and have been to some great stylists, but Alyson is the first person I've found who really took the time to understand what I was looking for, and who cut my hair like a pro. Going to get my haircut is such a treat now, because I know I'm going to walk out of there with a great haircut that will look equally as good on day 1 as it does on day 60! Not to mention the fact that Alyson is lovely and pleasant to be around. Please note: I am NOT a personal friend, I am a client, and I was very sad to see the few negative reviews posted. I don't know what those people could be thinking - Alyson has always been 100% straight-up with me about the price of the haircut, and she is a lot more reasonably priced that others I've tried (and does a much better job). Alyson, PLEASE don't trouble yourself about the few people who can't appreciate a good stylist when they see one - you're a pro as evidenced by all of the good reviews on here. I found Alyson on CitySearch, and I would 100% recommend that anyone (especially those with curly hair) check her out - you won't be disappointed!

Recognizes inner beauty in clients and brings it out through cuts, highlights & more

I have never written a review for anyone on line. But Alyson is such a wonderful stylist and professional with so much insight into what helps us look our most beautiful, that I wanted to tell everyone.

After my appointment with Alyson, my hair felt thicker and had more body that I could remember since I was a teenager, and that was many, many, many years ago. My experience with Alyson has been that she took the time to ask me what I wanted and what my life style was. She really listened, and then gave her recommendation of what she thought would make my hair look the most beautiful and would work best with my lifestyle. I had "over processed" hair because I'd been going to a stylist who kept talking me into using more chemicalson my hair and more often than they should have been used. I actually thought my hair was thinning due to aging, at 50 years of age. Alyson changed all of that with honest advice about how to care for my hair.

Alyson only uses and recommends products that she herself would use and she respects the planet and chooses natural products that enhance beauty, not products that cover up what nature gave us. Alyson is the only hair care professional that I have ever been too who does not have her eye on the clock to get you out of the chair so she can move on to her next client like so many I have been to. She took the time to give me the best results ever, and she shared the "secrets" of what I needed to do to get the same results at home. Many stylist I have gone to over the years are not confident enough to share those "secrets". But Alyson knows this is how she can help us look as good between appointment s with her as we do on the day we walk out of her salon, and that is why word of mouth brings her so many new clients. People ask me, "Who does your hair?" and I tell them. She is a dedicated professional and she made my hair look and feel wonderful.

Hella Great Cut!!

With such long hair, I was understandably concerned about making any change. Alyson put me at ease and listened and did exactly what I asked her to do! Awesome gal, she didn't cut even a centimeter more than I wanted her to. I have never written a review before but hey, this cut made me a believer. Her first client discount is an unexpected surprise, given her expertise. .
