The Airliner Club not taking off
by mrceokm
The Airliner Club is not so clubbing. As much and I liked it for a few weeks, I?ve changed my stance. The first night I came into the club and bar, it look like they were renovating during open hours, which was unsafe. After that, I came back and nothing has changed. The carpeting is dirty, the wooden floors could be maintained better, the staircases inside and outside; to me was unsafe. No accessible areas for the disabled. The last time I came back, the venue had no carpeting, which was not attractive during open hours. The seating areas and standing areas could be better. The stage format could be better also. The sound quality inside the venue wasn?t good. Also, the smoking and second floor area could be better. The bathrooms are dirty. The venue both inside and outside was not attractive also. I feel that The Airliner lost its pizzazz. When I found out that the outdoor stage was not happening; that one night I attended, I was bummed. The food is good; the drinks are ok, but overall environment and experience of being inside and outside The Airliner Club seemed to be below standards. Actually, this venue; I lost hope, because of the environment, a few staff members, etc. The service was eh! The venue seemed to be disorganized. I feel that a dirty and unsafe club and bar could jeopardize someone?s health, etc. The events are okay, but could be better. Finally, the decor could be better. The overall look of the place could be better. The location for this place isn?t attractive. There is free parking along the street, but no valet parking. Overall, I would never come back.
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Price
- Cons: location, unsafe and below average venue; both exterior and intenrior, and unattractive

WORST BARTENDERS IN TOWN
by BarHOP99
I'VE GONE A COUPLE OF TIMES TO THE AIRLINER AND HAVE CAUGHT THE BARTENDERS BEING DISHONEST EVERY TIME.... FOR EXAMPLE I PURCHASED A BEER FOR $4 DOWNSTAIRS AND PURCHASED THE SAME BEER FOR $6 UPSTAIRS. IM A GOOD TIPPER AND I DONT MIND DOING IT, BUT WHEN I RECEIVE FAST AND FRIENDLY SERVICE. BARTENDERS SEEM TO ADD THERE TIP ALONG WITH THE BEER PRICE.
MY SECOND INCIDENT WAS WITH MY DEBIT CARD, I OPENED A TAB AND WAS SERVED BY THE SAME BARTENDERS. I DECIDED NOT TO TIP BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY ALREADY TIP THEMSELVES LOL. A COUPLE WEEKS GO BY AND ON MY STATEMENT REVIEW. I NOTICED THAT THE BARTENDERS DID TIP THEMSELVES $15 AND FORGED IT.
SO, I DONT RECOMMEND THIS BAR WHAT SO EVER. LOUSY SERVICE AND DISHONEST BARTENDERS. I ALSO FOUND OUT THAT I IM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO EXPERIENCE THIS RIP OFF.
*****BEWARE OF THE PRICES AND CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS********
- Pros: LEAVING THE BAR
- Cons: BARTENDERS AND RESTROOMS
Great Music, Unpretentious Environment, Good Drinks... Need I say more?
by xgirl
I totally agree with Clubconnoisseur's comments about the Airliner, it's a very interesting environment and I love the history of the club, the taco stand in the back is a definite plus, and the cheese quesadilla's are worth the trip to the club. I as well did go to Club Burkitt's and had a great time! I haven't been to such a fun club in a long time. I find it very rare to go to a club in LA and fine one as fun and unpretentious as this one. My friends and I danced all night to all the great music. The DJ's played a lot of good Soul, BritPop, Reggae, Two-Tone, Elektro... etc.... I also, loved the fact that this was a club with purpose, to help a guy who unfortunately is in the midst of treatments of a very rare from of cancer, which the club was named after. So if you're looking for a great time in LA, definitely check this club out!
- Pros: Friendly Bartenders, Environment, GREAT FOOD, Easy Parking, GREAT MUSIC
- Cons: Bathrooms
Sunday Spot
by clubconnoisseur
If you appreciate a bit of LA history, you'll like the Airliner. One of LA's oldest bars (the bouncer tells me it was in operation during prohibiton--signs of it found in the back patio's huge sliding door still in place from the days when liquor trucks backed straight into the joint to unload thier spirits and bar owners could slam the back wall shut so no one would be the wiser). The decor is tasteful art deco without skimping on more modern amenities like flat screens which back the bar.
It's a tad hard to spot the place which is in an area that is home mostly to odd shops and services. Think Check cashing stores etc. The bathrooms are to be avoided at all costs which i think is what earned the joint it's C. But the food at the taco stand (yes a taco stand) at the end of the bar si AMAZING. try the potato taquitos.
I was there on a Sunday for Club Burkitt's. THIS IS A GOOD NIGHT TO GO. Great music to satisfy genre elitists and good old fun stuff to get down to. Plus, another kick for those benevolent LA hipsters: the proceeds from the night go to benefit a local guy diagnosed with cancer who is organinzing the night himself to help raise money for cancer treatment and a cancer research group.
So, bottom line: Unpretentious people who are there to have a good time and do something good.
- Pros: decor, food, music on sundays
- Cons: bathrooms
bad service and dangerous
by realjunglist
i recently went to the airliner for the first time for a dj show about 2 weeks ago and had a very bad night.first the place was in a very bad area and the paking lot was unsafe, then when i finally got in after being mistreated by the security staff the service was very bad.the bathrooms are very unclean, the place smelled like vomit, the music was good but the sound quality was poor.the security staff was rude and agressive and i really didn't feel safe.i actually did have fun there up till the end of the night when i saw some kid being seriously mistreated by the security and even some of the bartenders came out to beat this kid why i don't know, but with baseball bats,.as i was leaving to my car as this started to happen it made me feel like they don't respect people very much.i know i'll never go back there.not safe.i hope that kid is okay because i thought he was very injured.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: rude security,unsafe location,bad service,dirty
