Ugh Gross - prefab sushi anyone?

by g33kgurli at Citysearch

I have only been to this place once - and that was clearly enough. The sushi didn't seem fresh, the tuna tasted like...well... canned tuna. One of my former co-workers started feeling quesy on the way back to the office and eventually lost her lunch.

There is better on Sunset - right across the street at Ta-ke, save yourself the tummy ache and the blah food - skip this place.

  • Pros: Quick Seating

Fresh and fun

by Qmo4949 at Citysearch

I had to write a review after reading some of the less than stellar reports on this site. I have been going to Ezo for two years now and I have never experienced bad service. Only once was the food sub par, however, this was not without good reason as I learned later. Love the food and the people that this place attracts. If you had a bad experience I would suggest giving it another try as I am sure you will not be disappointed.

  • Pros: Great food

Decent Food - LOUSY ATTITUDE...THE STORY OF THE RUDEST WAITER IN WEST HOLLYWOOD!!!

by supow at Citysearch

On this past Friday (Nov. 9, 2007), a girlfriend and I decided to try out Ezo Sushi (a small "dive" on Sunset Blvd. in WeHo). We saw a sign in their window saying "All You Can Eat Sushi"and being the total sushi fanatics that we are, we decided without hesitation to give it a go. Upon entering this somewhat dimly lit restaurant, we seated ourselves at one of the many empty tables. When the waiter asked us what we would like, we said, "The All-you-can-eat Special, of course!" This was funny, because as we said that, he made a little noise, and then seemingly slammed our menus on the table in front of us. We laughed to ourselves, and decided to start off with an order of some Miso soup and a few hand rolls.

We weren't the only people that he was rude to. Not even five minutes after we had arrived, a young couple walked into the restaurant and asked for the "All-You-Can-Eat Special". The waiter said, "All-You-Eat Special" is not on Fridays -- then he said NOT after 7 p.m., or something like that. It was as if he was making up the rules as he went, and the couple stated something to him of that affect, which ANGERED him! That's when he showed them a sign and said that he refused to serve them, and that they should find another "All-You-Can-Eat" Sushi Restaurant if they did not like it! Irritated, the couple left and stated that they would NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN!

My girlfriend and I was truly amazed. Never had we seen such rude service outside of New York - their sushi menu was adequate & tasted ok, but all the rolls had too much rice & not enough sushi. After looking at my plate w/a little rice pushed to the side, the waiter stated (after sticking his finger in my plate), that he will charge me for each roll individually if I didn't eat all of my rice.

Turned-off by the rude service & mediocre food, we decided to leave Ezo, and vowed not "To Go" there again. When small, empty restaurants are rude, what can we expect from bigger ones? THE WORST!

  • Pros: Aside from laughing at the RUDE SERVICE / WAITER -- NONE!!!
  • Cons: TOO MUCH RICE IN THEIR SUSHI & AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Avoid This Place!!!

by tonya1234567890 at Citysearch

Horrible customer service. Empty atmosphere. Very inconsistent. We used to go there once a week, but now it is not an enjoyable atmosphere... not to mention their all you can eat sushi times vary from 5-7 or 6-7:30 or what ever they decide that day. Their prices vary from $23.95 to $29.95... you never really know what to expect. Their times and prices are constantly changing, most likely due to the constant change in management... also the bad attitude from the busboy/waiter does not help. But who can blame him? I would be unhappy working in a place that was so empty too! The scary thing... who wants to eat sushi in a place that is so empty, because how fresh can the sushi be?

  • Pros: There are none left... it used to be a geat place.
  • Cons: Sushi that is not fresh, bad service, inconsistency in prices and times.

Tried It Once...Not Anxious To Go Back

by svantico at Citysearch

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, right? That's exactly why I'm not rushing back to Ezo. The first and only time I went, they had just cleaned with bleach (right before lunch!). It was so strong the party I was with had to move to another part of the restaurant.

The food itself was tasty and the portions on the large side. When all was said and done, it was just average for me. The smell of the cleaning solution was a real turnoff and that's what I remember.

Good deal for lunch

by famousblueraincoat at Citysearch

This is a nice spot to grab a quick lunch. The sushi is what it needs to be. It's not going to win any awards or anything, but it's good enough. Lunch specials are reasonably priced, between $8.95 and $12.95. One thing they don't tell you on the menu, though, is that the box meals can't have "doubles" or "triples," so if you want all sashimi instead of tempura or whatever, you can't order that. Oh well. Like I said, prices are reasonable. They have some sort of all you can eat happy hour deal too.

  • Pros: lunch specials, prices, nice servers
  • Cons: street parking only or lot, no valet, sometimes slow

Good service with good sushi

by tyneshad at Citysearch

I like the lunch boxes at this place because they come with miso soup and the option or salad. The sushi is tasty, the service is friendly and prompt, and the value can't be beat. If you're looking for a place to sit down to a light lunch, I recommend this place.

best sushi on w. sunset, and great price

by cherryjones at Citysearch

Their bento box lunch specials are delicious and less than $10. I LOVE their spicy tuna rolls and vegetable tempura. I haven't tried the all you can eat sushi but if you have a large appetite I hear it's the way to go. Nice casual atmosphere and I love the faux grass on the walls.

Decent sushi on Sunset

by jflux at Citysearch

If your wallet can't take a trip to Blowfish down the street, but your tastebuds have been sorely disappointed by the other sushi bars on Sunset, then Ezo is your go-to spot on the Strip. A tiny, modern oasis across from the Hustler Store and down the street from The Whisky, Ezo serves up sushi and teriyaki at relatively humble prices. Granted, the quality of the rice and the ingredients is fairly average (no gastronomic epiphanies here), but for less than $10, you can get a nice bento box lunch that'll fill your belly without feeling like you went to a greasy spoon or (shutter) Subway. The service is always friendly and they're always glad to see you. It's not worth a special trip to eat here, but if you're in the neighborhood and have the jones for some spicy tuna roll, this is pretty much what you've got -- enjoy.

  • Pros: Inexpensive bento box lunch, friendly service
  • Cons: Low-quality rice and so-so fish -- but ok for the price

Fresh, modern, and affordable

by cronysix at Citysearch

I always get the lunch box and choose tempura, spicy tuna rolls, sashimi, and nigri. The box comes with miso soup, a small salad, and a bowl of rice. I get all this for about $10! It's a very good deal. On top of that, the restaurant staff is very welcoming.

  • Pros: Location, inexpensive, quick
  • Cons: parking, easy to miss
