Professional and Ethical Roofer, Whew.

Utterly Underwhelmed

Hired these guys based on previous recommendations. They were courteous and professional at first. Then one phone call did not get returned. They were apologetic. I said no problem, these things happen.

They came to repair a fairly bad leak in the bathroom of my office. The price they quoted was reasonable.

Due to the sparsity of rain in the region, it's difficult to tell if a leak-repair is successful. During the next rain, the leak reappeared, though not as bad as before.

I called J&J to have them come out and take a look at it. Someone from the company came out to examine the leak. He said it appeared to be coming from somewhere higher up on the roof, but wasn't very specific.

A few days later they mailed me an estimate: an additional $500 to repair the leak. As far as I'm concerned, this is the same leak I had asked them to repair in the first place. I don't really know how roofing works but I do know that if a client had a problem with my work, within reason, I would try to fix it. I don't mind paying extra to cover materials and labor, but they seem to be treating this as an entirely different job. I called the company to get clarification on this issue, and never received a return call.

Now, two months later, it's raining and the bathroom looks exactly like it did before I ever contacted them: a wading pool. I've called them yet again and got the promise that the owner would call me back. Wait & see....

• Pros: Really nice guys when you can get a hold of them. Prices are reasonable.
• Cons: Bad at returning phone calls; poor follow-up.

Honest & dependable

I decided to call them based on the other reviews on this site, and I'm glad I did! I have never had as wonderful and easy an experience with a contractor as with J&J. Not only were they knowledgeable and friendly, but more importantly, they were honest people giving fair estimates. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends & family.

An honest family company

To say I was impressed with J&J's service is an understatement. Their willingness to answer any of my questions, the quality of their work and the friendliness and approachability is like nothing I've experienced with other contractors. I own several properties and have had to deal with probably ten different contractors over the past three years and they were the only one who were hassle-free. I had one small issue that I brought up mid the project, and they treated it like it was very important. It's nice to see an honest family company who cares.
