overpriced, inferior workmanship

Our contractor had A Sharper Home prewire our house for networking. He then ran out of business, so we engaged A Sharper Home directly to finish the job. They quoted twelve hundred dollars for this work. When we asked for some minor changes, they said it would be no more than two thousand dollars in total. Then, when they did the work, they informed us that the two thousand dollars was an additional charge, on top of the twelve hundred.

We contested this sum, because the work was very minimal and took two men (plus a helper who did nothing) about five hours, using a few extra feet of wire and a couple of extra connectors. We had already paid the twelve hundred - and after doing the math, we concluded that this amount was more than sufficient. So we refused to pay any more. They then put a mechanic's lien on our house. In order to have peace, we finally paid in full. Their work was inferior, and we had to redo some of it ourselves.

I would never recommend A Sharper Home to anybody for anything.
