Best Thai in West LA

This is my favorite Thai restaurant. We've eaten here 5-6 times since it opened in summer 2006. The owner Sumaytee knows his customers and makes your feel like he's your friend. The service is prompt, but they let you have your space and finish your food before taking it away. The portion size is just right--you can leave with left overs, but if you eat it all, you aren't stuffed. It also feels light and healthy--not greasy oily. I have tried several things on the menu (rare for me) and I have loved them all. I do recommend the Pad Thai Noodles, and the Buddah Delight vegetables. For appetizers the golden pouches (like won tons stuffed with shrimp) and Vietnamese Hand Rolls are delicious. Their dessert platters are amazing as well--they can almost be considered art with an intricate and delicate lattice of spun sugar looks like hard candy and tastes like cotton candy. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Thai food. One word of warning--the Fiji water at the table is $5 a bottle...the tap water tastes great.
- Pros: Ambiance, Service, Food
- Cons: Parking
Avoid - Took my delivery, order, credit card, then called me, cancelled and lied!!!

Today, June 22, I placed a hefty delivery order, gave my credit card info, and hung up. Ten minutes later, I get a call asking for my cross street, then they tell me that I am outside their delivery area. I'm not.
After insisting that we're actually very close to them, well within their 2 mile radius - I'm like half a mile away - she insists that I'm mistaken. She then comes up with another excuse, refuses to transfer me to the owner or a manager, and hangs up!
They have my address, name, and credit card info, and after accepting the order, can't honor it? Then they have to lie about it.
I will NEVER order again from them. Their service and attitude stink.
- Pros: not the service
- Cons: service, attitude, delivery

The menu has a great diversity of choices, and everything we tried was awesome - crispy duck salad, fried whole catfish, pineapple fried rice, chicken tom yum soup, cashew chicken. I'm not a huge thai food fan, but I would definitely go back for more. The place was clean, staff was very friendly, and the service was fast.

I had dinner with a group of friends at Naraya last Saturday night. It's been under new management since mid November. I found their new menu reasonably priced, using high quality ingredients and the taste extraordinary. We shared serveral dishes Thai style between nine of us. The Tiger Salad had spicy lime dressing that was well-balanced with three flavors. Their Panang Curry and Chili & Thai Basil dishes tasted so authentic. They reminded me of the memorable meals I had in Bangkok. We were suggested to try the dessert made by their executive dessert chef. And we were glad we did. We all left happy and definitely worth the drive from South Bay.
Cool, Cozy and Delicious!

I like this place a lot, I really enjoyed the Singapore Noodle, the Ahi salad and I Love the Thai Steamed Dumplings. I could eat those all day every day.
Saturday evening parking was easy.

I've been to this place a couple of times. Forgot to let reviewers know how great it was. I had my birthday (private) party there in Feb'08. Service was as efficient even with the less amount of servers. The food i ordered were mostly appetizers/tapas: spring rolls, golden triangle, satey skewers, sear albacore tuna decker salad...... They were arranged nicely on banana leaves in a dark wooden plate.....so fabulous and unique. My guests told me that they were impressed with the taste and presentation of the food. They didn't expect to see it in a Thai restaurant. And especially the flower arrangements i got through the restaurant, they were chic and different. I would recommend anyone who wants to throw a nice cozy private party there! Even my mother in-law held hers there in May'08. The recent visit was two weeks ago and it was still great!
- Pros: Great ambience.
Gorgeous ambiance, good food

I live in the neighborhood and had noticed this new attractive-looking restaurant several times when passing by. Last night a group of 3 of us finally decided to go and give it a try. Am I glad we did! First of all, I just LOVED the ambiance there! The decor is just my taste - romantic yet contemporary with candles and orchids everywhere! I also enjoyed the French/European Lounge music that was quietly playing in the background (I wish the owners of Naraya would sell their CDs!)
Our waiter was very attentive and I really appreciated his recommendations and it was clear that he took pride in his job and truly cared about our dining experience.
We ordered a selection of 6 appetizers and what a treat they were! The food was tasty, fresh and light - simply delicious! The whole experience was quite different from any other Thai place I've been to before! Until now I considered Tuk Tuk my favorite Thai place. I still like Tuk Tuk alot, but I like Naraya better!
I sincerely hope that the word gets out and people will go and give Naraya a chance to make it! It would be a good place for a small party, date or even business dinner. I will certainly go back!!!
- Pros: Ambiance, background music, food, service
- Cons: None

I went there after reading the good reviews on this site. We wanted to try something different as we always go to Saladang and Natalee thai. It was a disaster, i dont know how this kind of restaurant can get good rating. Nothing was good about that restaurant. I will never recommend this restaurant to anybody.
- Pros: none
- Cons: everything

We were staying at the Carlyle Inn across the street from Naraya and one of the employees recommended that we go there for lunch. So, we went across the street to eat here, and were pleasantly surprised. The lunch menu was reasonably priced, had a great variety to pick from, and was absolutely delicious. We appreciated and enjoyed the recommendations of our waiter. The atmosphere was comfortable, yet elegant. We went back for dinner, and continued going back for a week straight. Being from MN, this restaturant made us feel welcome and had us coming back for more. It seemed to be family run, and the employees were very friendly, yet professional. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and am jealous that we don't have one like it in MN. You have to try their eggrolls!
- Pros: Great food, comfortable atmosphere, and eggrolls to die for!
- Cons: Smaller area, but still comforable
