A taste of home
by MitchBrenner
I grew up in a Portuguese-American community and have spent many vacations in Portugal and Madeira. I can assure anyone wondering about authenticity that Natas pastries are as good, or better, than any Portuguese sweets I've ever had. I love everything they sell and the owners and counter staff could not be nicer. Here is a place that truly deserves great success and merits the nice user reviews it's gotten. GO but not if you're trying to lose pounds.
- Pros: Incredibly delicious desserts, authentic Portuguese cooking
- Cons: It's not next door to me
Best bakery in the valley

I love this place. Ive been going since it opened a couple years back. Now they've expanded and serve breakfast and lunch in a really cute seating area. The food is great!
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Parking is a bit of a pain
Portugese Sweets

I like sitting at one of the outdoor tables, sipping coffee and noshing on a nata or whatever unusual treat I've chosen from the bakery display case. It's different than any other bakery around, even if I don't always love the treat I've picked that day. The staff is really nice.
- Pros: Unusual items to choose from
- Cons: They aren't all winners, but most of them are really good
Portuguese pastry shop offers recipes from the motherland as a cure for Angelenos sweet-tooths.

In Short
A large, glowing bakery case takes up most of the room in the small, blue-and-white tiled restaurant, proudly presenting the day's goods. The staff, clad in white bakers uniforms, explains the different cakes and tarts to nearby office workers and residents who lean or kneel in front of it. Those getting their feet wet dabble in plain or coconut-covered natas, the custard-filled namesake and popular Portuguese dessert, while bolder choices like marzipan-and-browie towers are also available. There are also sandwiches available for purchase.

I had to leave a note in support of my favorite bakery/cafe . I have been coming to this bakery since it opened a few years ago. Being a teacher I have little time on breaks but always made time to come with my colleges and have these amazing sweets and their delightful coffee.
I am a fan of many of their things, one of them, their brownies are to die for. Everything here is made from scratch and you can tell. I had their breakfast and lunch, the food is unbelievable, truly homemade!
Great service, great food, great coffee, best brownies ;-)!
- Pros: Thumbs up, way, way up!!!
I like it

It's the only place in Los Angeles were you can get "pasteis de bacalhau (cod)" that's a savory Portuguese treat and also the "natas" in Portugal they call that pasteis de Belem.
The owner is Portuguese and very friendly.
Why 4 stars? Well the other pastries there are good but no phenomenal, nothing out of the ordinary.
Wonderful homemade desserts!

I've never had Portuguese pastries before, but my first time at Nata's was outstanding! I actually found it on citysearch and decided to check it out myself. I was staying in Glendale at the time, so the drive was a little further, but it was totally worth it! Located in the corner of a small shopping center, Nata's is a quaint little pastry shop that you can smell as soon as you get out of the car! As soon as I entered the shop there was already a friendly face waiting to offer me samples and explain to me all the different cakes and pastries in the glass cases. Their macaroons are amazing and come in different sizes. I also had this chocolate mousse (I forget the name) and it was rolled in nuts and chocolate. AMAZING. Their signature nata is basically egg custard/flan in a flakey pastry shell. It was sweet, but light in taste and had a hint of caramel. Delicious! I definitely took some to go! Everything everyone says about Nata's is true! I will definitely visit again.
- Pros: Friendly faces, delicious desserts, variety!
- Cons: Theres only one Nata's
You must visit this fabulous bakery!

As a Portugese native....I can honestly say there is nothing, I mean NOTHING, better than the delicious pastries at Natas. The first time I ever walked into this place, I was completely overwhelmed! Everything is so well done, and everything smells delicious too. Also, the place itself is always super, super clean! The owner is really sweet and will take the time to explain all the different pastries. They don't only have Portuguese pastries...but also carry a variety of European style pastries. There is always something new to try!! I have a few favorites that everyone needs to try: Natas, Bolas de Berlin, and their fruit tarts. Just amazing! Thank you Natas Pastries for bringing home a little closer to me =)
- Pros: Cozy, unique, great service!
- Cons: Wishing I lived closer =)
This can only be compared to the big O

Not only do all the employees know what they are talking about regarding each pastry, they seem to really enjoy watching everyone melt right before their eyes especially when they see me bitting into a pastry. My eyes roll and then fall outta my head. It's an amazing experience. And I'm a huge desert nut, deserts are my main course and this really takes it to the limit...Keep up the great work Natas and keep the taste buds going crazy...
- Pros: Very nice people, everytime i've been in there it's above and beyond
