As a college student, spending $90 dollars on a sports massage is a bit difficult to swallow, even with people from all corners telling you that it is essential that you get one. I realize that $100 dollars (or $90 for me, as a triathlon club member) is totally normal for a Los Angeles massage, but for a student, that is quite a bit of change! However, after a few weeks of my running getting more and more painful, and my body feeling more and more exhausted, I knew it was time to spend the cash. My neck had been aching, my lower back twinging, and my legs were tight as drums. Now, after a sports massage from Dennis, I realize now that the cost is not simply a cost, but an investment in my body and mind. Dennis is a truly wonderful person, as well as the most ridiculously talented masseur. He welcomed me in to his beautiful new office (right on the water on Marina del Ray) and gave me a very brief tour with a true sense of pride. After that, he asked me my injuries, anything he needed to be aware of, etc. After the massage began, I was completely hooked. The feeling is intense, but only painful for moments at a time. Most of the time, it is quite simply blissful and delightul. I am a talker, so for most of the time, Dennis and I gabbered away about Triathlon and massage. He made me feel right at home and so comfortable. After the massage, I was completely zenned out. I got up feeling incredibly serene, without any pain! It was miraculous. Today is the day after, and I still feel so much better and more flexible than I have for weeks. If I had the money, I would gladly go once a week. However, the nicest thing I can possibly say is that even though it's a bit expensive (only for me, it is completely normal price for a Los Angeles massage) I will save up and go once a month to improve my performance and spiritual well-being. Thank you Dennis, for such a wonderful afternoon!
Pros: Incredible massage, free (and easy) parking, beautiful office
Cons: That he's not located in downtown LA! ;-)

I used to think a massage was just a massage. . . whether it was a walk-in storefront or a glitzy spa. Then I heard about LA Sports Massage through my running group in Santa Monica. As a marathon runner and avid cross-trainer, I tend to tweak, tense, and knot up my muscles pretty frequently. The therapists at LA Sports Massage have done an amazing job at identifying exactly what is tweaked, tense, and knotted and use specialized and advanced techniques specific to relieving sports related injuries. I have had numerous massages with both Dennis and Dan and would (and have) recommend(ed) them to anyone that leads an active lifestyle and desires a very personalized massage. LA Sports Massage sponsored free massages after the LA Marathon for my running club and I received the most amazing post-race massage from Dan. The tense aches and pains withered away under his firm and focused hands. Two days later, I was back on the table to see Dennis - not necessarily because I NEEDED it, but more because it just feels that great and I am convinced it impacts and improves my running performance. I have their number in speed dial - just in case I happen to have a REALLY bad long distance training run. And they have accomodated a very last minute request graciously and efficiently! If you are an extreme athlete, a weekend warrior, or a casual exercise enthusiast - don't waste your time with impersonal uneducated therapists. LA Sports Massage continues to train, learn, and stay abreast of advanced techniques and biological structure. I only trust my marathon legs to the hands of Dan and Dennis. I will never be just a walk-in somewhere again.
Pros: Dan's hands! Dennis' personality!
Cons: Is there really a con to getting a great massage overlooking the marina?

An absolute must for any sports related injury. I found Dennis 5 days before the marathon when I was nursing what I thought was a knee injury. He was able to accurately diagnose me with a twisted ankle and spent 1/2 hour addressing the affected areas. I returned three days later for a follow-up and he got me ready for the marathon two days later. I could not have crossed the finish line without his expertise. As long as I continue to run, I will keep him as part of my regiment.
Pros: great availability

Wow! I had the very BEST experience with a body worker, EVER. I had a revolutionary breakthrough of the flesh such that I recognize Dennis as my body's guru - I am NOT kidding! The man has such IMMENSE knowledge/training and a VERY palpable passion for healing the body... For me, he purely & intuitively employed Reiki, Rolfing, Sports Massage and some ART (Active Release Therapy, the stuff a really good Chiropractic studies if he believes in massage) and more - I am just blown away by the results! As someone who had suffered with chronic pain for almost two years, I had resigned myself to feeling off balance and body-cranky for life. All past efforts for relieving my compound body snarls fell pretty far short of the goal. But, in just one session with Dennis, I felt that all that I had suffered was acknowledged, and then touched and then lovingly but, firmly moved on OUT. A ruptured appendix that was never removed, a lung that had virtually stopped taking air, a clavicle that seemed permanently out of place - these all seemed transformed into problems that had never been! I had a lot of fluid in my lungs but I never felt embarrassed, Dennis encouraged me to let myself let go completely - I did. Today, I can breathe! I'm out skateboarding as soon as I press 'enter' and I'm riding the hills tomorrow on my mountain bike! I haven't ridden in SOOOO long... The best of all this is, I know I can stay light, loose and supple like this ongoingly - I know that a tight and unhappy body DOES have recourse - it's Dennis! Do yourself a favor - drive to his new studio 'round sundown, like I did and catch an unfailingly gorgeous Marina sunset while heading up the steps to a heated massage table with the best smelling sheets and let yourself completely receive Dennis' amazing gift of relief! Do it NOW!

LA Sports Massage makes you feel comfortable and like a pro at the same time. I broke my clavicle last summer and that encouraged me to seek pain relief during my rehabilitation. Dennis has helped me to deal with the muscle pain and tension caused by such a trauma through massage and advice on other things I can do to help the healing. If I don't have time for a full massage, Dennis will always find the time for whatever I need--15 minutes, half hour, whatever I request! He really listens to what YOU and your body need. The LA Sports Massage organization is a giving, generous and healing place and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try massage therapy.
Pros: Friendliness, availability, service
Cons: none

Although regular massage is critical for serious athletes, to avoid injury and promote recovery, it is also tremendously beneficial for weekend warriors and non-athletic people to promote healthy posture and avoid low-back pain. Dennis Lisaius understands the key role that regular massage plays in my endeavors (work and play) and has demonstrated a commitment to rendering high-quality care.
Pros: Great manual skills

I have been using LA Sports massage for years and no other massage can compare! As a new mom, I have my shares of aches and pains and STRESS. I tend to carry my stress in my mid back and the therapists at LASM know exactly how to unwind all of those knots! Dennis is my personal fav. He has the perfect touch for my tightly wound muscles and the effects last for days. I couldn't get through my busy days as a nutritionist, homeopath, business owner, wife and mother without the caring, competent touch of LASM! Even though I am not an athlete per se, they are instrumental in my health and wellbeing. So even regular folk like me get the royal treatment...you don't have to be a triathlete!

Dennis really knows an athlete's body. I've been a competitive athlete for nearly 18 years. Now that I am in my thirties, training at the same intensity as previous years requires I take care of my body. I will definitely let Dennis help me in that endeavour. I recently had a hard brick workout (bike/run) in the early part of the day, went to him for a massage in the afternoon, and managed to have one of my best swims ever later that evening. After a 90% effort brick workout, I shouldn't have been able to swim that well, but after that massage I just felt long, relaxed and strong in the water. Double workout days are typical for me since I put in 20 hours of training per week, and Dennis' massages are a great way to keep my body healthy.
Pros: Availability!

I've been getting weekly massages from Dennis for the last 4 months. He is the best massage around. He knows the athlete's body, what is needed and how long it'll take to remedy. He really cares about his work. He's a true healer right here in Los Angeles.

I've been having massages for over twenty years now & am really picky about who I stay with for body work. Dennis is a sweetheart who'll listen to exactely what you say your body needs to recover from or what you need pre-event day, & then he'll help your body get ready. Anything from deep tissue to help with lactic acid buildup or gentle massage for over-exerted muscles, or shiatsu, Dennis has these & more in his massage repertoire. Punctual, big smile, very reasonable rates, I couldn't possibly recommend him more. Dennis is a regular & necessary part of my athletic life & I am thankful to have found him.
Pros: Flexible schedule, evening hours, great attitude & always smiling.
