HIDDEN TREASURE
by nls2115
Scoops is a gem of a joint tucked away in an unlikely part of the city. Just happened upon this place on a Sunday walk and couldn't be happier. I had the strawberry jasmine and absolutely loved it. The service was great and the gelato was delicious!
- Pros: delicious gelato, reasonable prices, great service,
- Cons: none
Adventures in Ice Cream
by juliebear
My husband and I had dinner at our favorite BBQ place in Koreatown recently and decided to try something different for dessert. We usually drive out to Al Gelato on Robertson Blvd. but this night we had some friends with us and decided to try Scoops in Koreatown.
What a gem box this place is!! It was a bit crowded with LACC students on Saturday night but all four of us were able to try little scoops of the most of the amazing flavors: Brown Bread (like old-fashioned bread pudding), Jim Beam & Chocolate, Orange Jasmine, Salty White Chocolate...and so many others that were just as incredible and inventive.
I had read on Citysearch that Scoops sometimes has a flavor called Bacon Caramel that we were excited to try but, alas, it wasn't there. I think half the fun of this place is the surprise of what flavors they do have from night to night. What a bargain, too - we each had 2 scoops for under $12. Next time you're near Koreatown make sure you save room for dessert!
- Pros: Beyond creative flavors
- Cons: Limited parking (near LACC)
Amazing!!!

Don't be afraid to try the wild flavors, or to try the vegan flavors. They are ALL good!!!! And if you are feeling shy, they are super nice about letting you taste any of the flavors first. I love the way the owner uses unique ingredients like goat cheese, basil, bacon, guinness, etc... and the ice cream still tastes awesome. It's very reasonably priced as well. I don't think I could recommend this place more!
Also, If you're up for a meal before your ice cream, I recommend Pure Luck (an awesome vegan restaurant) right across the street. You'll be full and happy afterwards :)
shhhh... it's the best !

Wow. I heard about scoops through a friend, and am impressed with it. The prices are unbelievably reasonable, and the ice-cream is FANTASTIC !
It's a little out of the way, but completely worth the drive.
- Pros: cheap fantastic ice-cream
- Cons: none, (I didn't check the bathrooms but am assuming it's clean)
Tasty, Inspiring Flavors
by fiestascramble
I went to Scoops with a couple of friends. Between us, we tried the following flavors: Goat Cheese & Basil, Raspberry & Balsamic and Pistachio & Rosewater. All amazing. It's refreshing to patron a mom 'n' pop style ice cream shop with inventive creations. This section of Heliotrope is rad too because the Bicycle Kitchen is a couple of doors down, so there are always a lot of riders out and about--also refreshing!
I Love This Place
by porkjello
This place has that comfortable feel of a local, mom and pop, ice cream shop... except it's a "gelato" shop. Tai, the owner, comes up with original flavors. He is always serving his proudly made gelato with a smile. The big fad nowadays are high concept gelato shops or Pinkberry clones but Scoops goes back to the basics by making the quality and flavor of the gelato the main reason to come back.
Minor trivia, the corner where scoops is located is the same corner where Turbo pop locked with the broom in the movie Breakin'. And to the idiot that said this place is in Koreatown, get it right, it's in East Hollywood. Reppin' the hood ya heard!!!
Note to the Citysearch Editorial Staff... CHANGE THE NAME OF THIS BUSINESS TO SCOOPS CAUSE IT'S NOT CALLED TAICECREAM!
- Pros: All Home Made Gelatos and Original Flavor Creations
- Cons: Parking can be hard to find
Best Ice Cream in LA!!
by mmmdelicious11
This is the place I want to take my out of town friends (New Yorkers) to taste the best ice cream in Lalaland..The owner is so sweet, as are his co-workers who know which ice cream is best and will let you taste all the flavors if you are having trouble deciding...I am no vegan, but I must say I tend to go towards those flavors and I highly recommend checking this tiny spot out over any of the higher end "gellateria"-type places (I won't mention any names..hehe). Enjoy!!
- Pros: Owner, Price is Right
- Cons: Not open on Sundays...No sundae on sundays.
Delicious & Creative Ice Cream! Nice Owner!
by magz21
Scoops has become one of our favorite places to get ice cream. Tucked away in a cute area off of Melrose - filled with bike-shop co-ops and city college kids. The owner is so nice and is oh-so-inventive with his flavors! I suggest the brown bread, almond horchata, and anything made with jackfruit. RUN to Scoops!
- Pros: Great flavors, amazing price!
- Cons: zero
SO UNIQUE
by multi
Geeze finally Scoop is listed on Citysearch... I know of this place for a while now and it carries the funkiest flavors ever! To name a few: Bacon Caramel (uses bacon fat to make the caramel), Chocolate Wasabi (reminisence of mint and chip), Lemon Ginger, Black Sea Salt, etc... But please don't be stunned by the flavors, the owner really knows how to put all the right ingredients together. You would never imagine how well wasabi and chocolate go together. Tai is also a very nice guy and you can chat with him about how he came up with the funky flavors. It is also very cheap too!
- Pros: Funky and Unique flavors, price
- Cons: parking
Hella good ice cream!
by meechmysta
This place is great! You get to try as many flavors as you like and not feel bad about it. It's also hella cheap and really, really good. Betweeen me and my roommates, we had eight different flavors including vegan black tea, mango pineapple, and pumpkin ice. All were great!
