Great Shop for Lighting !
by PhilatelicPhil
Great Shop! All sort of "retro" lamps, very helpful explaining about "green" flourescents and how to use them in your home. Took the time to explain my choices and helped me save energy and money. Easy to deal with.
- Pros: Great Parking, friendly service, took time to advise me, reasonable prices.
- Cons: Not easy to find, have to look!
NOT LEGIT BIZ. MONEY-LAUNDERING DIVE covering as a business
by josecitos_girl
Wish I'd read the other review on yelp before going to this ILLEGITIMATE awful business! I'm CERTAIN it's a money-laundering dive. They could not POSSIBLY be making a living from repairing lamps!
Found they on yellowbot and didn't do any research -- just convenient location. Brought in my top-of-the-line Electrix task lamp -- $128 -- and AS I WALKED IN THE DOOR "Sandy" said, "Oh, we don't do halogen lamps." HELLOOOOO? The "lighting" girl doesn't do what most lamps are these days??? She took one look at it and said, "You bought this at IKEA." I picked my jaw up from the ground and informed her I bought it online. I told her it wasn't the bulb because I tested it already with 3 new bulbs. Still, she INSISTED on testing a new bulb. I HAD TO SHOW HER how to get the cover off and then she violated the #1 rule of halogen bulbs: SHE ACTUALLY TOUCHED THE BULB WITH HER BARE HANDS AND PULLED IT OFF!!!!! I had to EXPLAIN to her that every warning on earth -- from manufacturers to the bulb packaging to general safety alerts issued by gov't agencies -- vigorously alerts consumers NEVER to touch a halogen bulb with their bare hands as skin oil causes the bulb to explode! "Oh, that's not true," she said. Then she put in a new bulb with her bare hands! I had to ask her what wattage she was putting in. "Oh, I don't know. I can put in 100 w if you want, or more." I told her not to put in anything over 50 w because that was the limit on the lamp.
At any rate, the "test" with the new bulb did not work (thank God, because the bulb may have exploded.) I mentioned I had brought something else to repair but it may cost more than the item was worth (a string of decorative lights). "Then don't do it," she said. "We charge a $29 minimum.
This waste of gas and time taught me to check out the reviews of every business BEFORE I go to them. STAY AWAY!!! Money-laundering dive!!!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: See review, not a legit business, they know NOTHING about lighting
