Must go to in Westwood
by kmac33
Everytime I go to Westwood I HAVE to stop by here. The smell carries from across the street and you follow it to end up here. I always buy a dozen little donuts for only $3 and share them with my sister. They are beyond delicious and what I wish I could wake up and eat every morning!! While they are fattening, they are totally worth it.
- Pros: AMAZING food, quick service
- Cons: parking (but its the same as anything in westwood)
guilty pleasures
by juju13es
I remember passing by this corner donut shop, seeing a sign that said "Life is too uncertain... eat desserts first," and I was sold. My friends and I went to this small shop, and there was a case of delicious, fatty looking desserts. I couldn't resist and ordered a churro stick, which was scrumptious. Sometimes the Pinkberry in all it's healthy glory can get tiring, so if you want to indulge in REAL desserts, come to this place.
- Pros: delicious desserts
- Cons: fattening
Best Damn Donuts!
by t_roch
I have been eating Stan's donuts for over 20 years - they are awesome! I highly recommend the peanut butter and banana pocket with chocolate chips. There is nothing like it anywhere else! The apple fritters with blueberries and the buttermilk old fashioned donuts are always good.
- Pros: Excellent, unique donuts
- Cons: Westwood parking
here to stay.

this is one of those places that even if it were $1000/donut, youd still pay it just to keep places like stan open. but stan is beyond that--hes loyal to his customers and in todays day and age, keeps taste a priority. stan admits they suffered a 10% loss in recent years to the health craze, but they arent budging on making low cal donuts (thank gooddess).
i love the old-fashioned choc. donuts with choc chips. they use really good chocolate. also--you can jack free wi-fi from boba loca next door while munching on your donut breakfast.
- Pros: donuts-need i say more
- Cons: parking (broxton has a free 1st-two-hours lot before 6pm. after 6pm there is a flat rate of $3)
Westwood institution serves some of L.A.'s best donuts.

In Short
A tiny, nondescript corner counter tucked discreetly on Brockton and Weyburn in the middle of Bruin Country, Stan's turns out some of the most original (and tastiest) donuts in Los Angeles. UCLA students, cops and those in the know have been making the pilgrimage for over 40 years to have a taste of the unending, reasonably priced variety of transcendent fried goodies. (Think unlikely flavor combinations, like Reese's chocolate-peanut butter pockets.) In the wrong hands, these concoctions could turn out cloying, but the sweetness of milk chocolate balances the richness of peanut butter, playing off a crispy background of lightly fried dough. Add the swift but sweet service, and it becomes clear why this place is a true L.A. favorite.
Old fashioned donuts
by allenday
Made with real cake flour and fried the old fashioned way. This ain't no Krispy Kreme!
The ingredients are all high quality, and there are many different types of donuts to choose from.
The pineapple upside down cake is my favorite.
- Pros: authentic donuts, milk and coffee also, variety of donuts
- Cons: pricey, no parking
Not your run-of-the-mill donut stand
by splashbk
While at UCLA for 4 years I always passed by this place, located right in the middle of Westwood Village. It doesn't have the flashy lights like its more high-profile neighbors.
But during my senior year I wandered in and tried one of the Reese's Peanut Butter Pocket donuts and I was instantly hooked. You will not find cookie-cutter variety donuts here. No, sir, only the most creative and delicious donuts end up in the display case.
The prices are a little higher than you would find at your local neighborhood Winchell's or Krispy Kreme, but the price paid is well worth it. I find a donut matched up with a pint of milk one of the best afternoon snacks in LA.
Next time you are in Westwood, make sure to stop by and say hi to Stan. He's still there, pumping out the best donuts I've come across.
- Pros: Creative, High-quality, Location
- Cons: Not Flashy, Difficult Parking
Steer clear of the cinnamon rolls!
by AlizeKel
As a UCLA student, I wish Stan's was as great as all these reviews make it seem. Each time I've tried Stan's, I've been disappointed. The cinnamon roll I bought last time was beyond disappointing - it was greasy, dry, and just plain gross.
