Great Food. Good Price. Great Casual Dining.

I love Noodle Planet and will always love Noodle Planet. They have Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and more... all kinds of noodle dishes, friend rice and much more. Staff is friendly and service is very good. Just wish they would accept credit cards (even if they charged 3%-5% more as an option for customers). Very casual atmosphere so not known for ambiance but a cool, casual, fun place to go with friends. Strongly recommend.

delicious, cheap noodles and soups

This is one of my favorite, cheap, late-night eateries. They feature a wide range of tasty noodle dishes, including huge bowls of Asian-style soups (wonton, udon, pho, ramen, tom yum, etc.) for dirt-cheap prices. They also have delicious soupless noodle dishes such as spicy yakisoba. The only drawback is that their beef is tough and full of gristle, avoid ordering anything with beef. However, their chicken and fish are just fine. Don't forget to bring cash, as they don't take credit cards. I also recommend ordering a drink from Boba World (next door but part of the same restaurant) -- I'm a huge fan of their Calpico yogurt smoothies.

Kinda going downhill, but still good.

I started going to Noodle Planet when I started going to UCLA. Four years later, I'm still going to Noodle Planet, but something's just not the same. I always used to get the pad thai, and it used to be LOADED with tofu, which I loved. You got a huge portion and there were extra crushed peanuts on the table, so you could sprinkle as much as you wanted on your food! Now, eh, it's pretty good, I still go back a lot, but I'm not thrilled to recommend it to people like I used to be. The boba is also still pretty good, though I had the Pad See Ew the other day and was not impressed. I'd stick to the pad thai. Portions are still huge, and it's still reasonably priced, but the lack of parking and cash-only payment system make it a bit of a hassle, even though they have an atm inside (charge is 1.50 to withdraw).

• Cons: Cash-only, Parking is tough, not as excellent as it once was.

A variety of noodles

You can get just about any kind of noodles here. Most of whats on the menu is pretty good. The service is also good - you'll get prompt seating and fast service. Its also inexpensive and the portions are a good size.

What happened to this place? Yikes!

I've been going to the Noodle Planet in Westwood for many many years now. Until recently I could always expect the same quality of food and service. They have a huge variety of dishes and their waiters are awsome. They hire a bunch of them and they run around servicing all the tables, not just their own sections like in most food joints. Never once would I have to ask for a refill on drinks. Ok so it's not the best asian food in the world but for the prices and convenience it's not bad at all. NOW however, they've obviously changed ownership and it's all down the drain. They've fired all the waiters and hired like 2 to service the whole place. They started cutting costs too and it's really apparent. Before there was a whole tray of condiments on each table like hot sauces, crushed peanuts, plum sauce, napkins, etc. Now they have salt and pepper, some cheap hot sauce, and that's it. Everything else you have to ask for and you're lucky if you even get it at that. The new owners thought that if they paint the interior red and change to cloth napkins that they could raise the price on all the dishes which they did. That would be fine if the food was a little better or at least the same as before, it's not. The food is worse, the portions are smaller, and the service is horrid. The only thing that was annoying about Noodle Planet before was that they were CASH ONLY. Now however...oh wait, they're still CASH ONLY but they've installed their own ATM inside to stick it to you some more. This place is useless in every sense of the word.

Big portions at a decent price

This isn't a fancy restaurant but they have good food at a decent price and the portions are big. Their service is fast and efficient. It's a great place for big groups or late night cravings. Their menu has like hundreds of items so there should be something to please everybody.

Families flock to this casual pan-Asian diner where diligent waitstaff take orders and navigate around a plethora of pleather booths and tables. As the restaurant's name suggests, the extensive menu features numerous noodle dishes--and hefty portions--from Thailand, Japan, China, Cambodia and Vietnam. Popular selections include pad thai noodles, pho noodle soup, crispy chow mein noodles and tom kha gai, a hot and sweet soup made with coconut milk, lemongrass, mushroooms and chicken.

great noodle dishes!

Noodle Planet offers an assortment of Asian food ranging from Thai rice dishes, Vietnamese pho bowls to Japanese Teriyaki plates. Although the dishes are not especially high in quality, they are decent, well-priced, and eclectic. The environment is a bit tacky (they have a floating mobile of various planets on the ceiling and bright-colored paintings on the walls), but spacious so it would be a good place to go with a larger party. Also, the boba drinks there are pretty tasty and great for dessert (I would recommend the Twist drinks, Asian smoothies, and the Japanese Green Tea).

Good cheapeats!

i used to come here when i was a student and it was always reliable for good, cheap food. i recently returned while running an errand in westwood, and i'm pleased to report that the reliability continues. while not the best asian food around, it does offer cheap asian comfort food for really low prices (e.g., fried rice, noodle soups, spring rolls, etc.). there's always plenty of seating and the service is friendly, if not particularly efficient. it's a good place to pop in for a snack or grab a quick lunch.

• Cons: Ambience; parking in westwood is always a pain

I was very impressed when I first tried Noodle planet. You get so much for what you pay, and the food was just amazing. My favorite so far is the tom yum udon, but the best thing about them (actually most of Thai restaurants) is that they are fast. You get your food in no time.
