Best in LA as far as I'm concerned
by scottykam at Citysearch
I've tried about 10 different places for pizza that claims to be like the east coast and this is the best I've had since I've been in LA. I just stopped in and got 2 slices and thoroughly enjoyed them. I'm not a huge fan of thin crust and that's why this is so good also.
- Pros: Good Pizza
- Cons: No parking in Westwood
Best in LA
by braveg at Citysearch
I've lived in New York, Chicago and in LA. Without a doubt, Lamonica's is right there with the best of the best. Larry and Vinny's Pizza off the boardwalk in Coney Island has to be the all time best Pizza place but they've been out of business for years. Calzones are a must as are the garlic roles at Lamonicas. Don't be afraid to get sicilian style, too. It is a little "doughy" but sicilian has to be this way. Tell them you want extra sauce and sausage and you'll be fine!
- Pros: Fast, walk right on the line, right next door to (outstanding) Mongolian BBQ if it is too crowed at Lamonicas! If you need a slice...wait!
- Cons: Tables are small in number and in size. If you need to go to the bathroom, rethink your need. It can get a little crowded in there when the students are really hungry. 1 o
Pizza by the slice!

They have it here! And pretty good slices, at that. When I'm in the area, I usually stop by Diddy Riese and Lamonica's (Yeah, i know, cookies and pizza. Not exactly health food). Their pizza's are fantastic. The crust is thin, but lots of times, you don't even have to fold it (not sure if that's a good thing). They have a pretty big selection behind the glass case. They do have some Sicilian style pizzas too. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with New York Subway art. Nothing fancy, but who cares, just as long as the pizza is good. And it is!
- Pros: Good selection of pizza slices
- Cons: Hard to find parking
Better than most LA pizza

We all know pizza in this town is shite. But I was very pleasantly surprised with Lamonica's. Thin crust is nice, Sicilian has a great sauce. Fast delivery, too.
- Pros: Tasty, fast delivery

Been going there since I was a kid. Consistently good. If you go before lunchtime they usually have calzone.
STILL the best Pizza in L.A.
by stulangley at Citysearch
One of the saddest days of my decade-plus in L.A. was when the Lamonica's in Brentwood closed down. Apparently it just wasn't bland and pretentious enough for the Starbuckin' yokels. Thankfully however, the West L.A. location lives on, offering up the best pizza in Los Angeles, period. I'm not even really a doughboy but I suck down the whole slice at this joint. It's the best place to cram your face before a movie at the Village, and as for all you whining New Yorkers, their dough comes from New York so get over yourselves.
the Sicilian is what it's all about

usually I get regular pizza but at Lamonica's that's nothing special- you must get the sicilian to really taste the flavors- don't know why but it's a proven fact. great smoky sauce. yum.
- Pros: sicilian, great pizza, cheap
- Cons: zero decor/atmosphere, too far away!, parking sucks
The best NY pizza in LA
by hudsterboy at Citysearch
Pizza in LA tastes like wonderbread, ketchup and velveeta. This place is the exception. If you are from the northeast and miss the flavor and texture of the pizza back home, this is the closest you're gonna get until you get back there.
great pizza

The pizza is great you can get it by the pie or the slice. When you eat your pizza you will notice the grease that drips of the slice down tha side of your mouth,Now thats a good pizza! For an even better treat get a slice and some mogolian noodles from next door extra spicy and BAM!!! Your in heaven.
I rate this pizza right up there with mulberry street pizza.
East Coast transplants nibble on a slice of home at this New York-style pizzeria.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
The interior makes East Coasters feel at home with old photos, murals, subway signs, and a New York crust that's perfect for folding. Thin-crust pizzas and thick Sicilians fly from the kitchen to tables. Tomato basil, Hawaiian and white pizza with spinach are by-the-slice offerings, while whole pies can be built to order from a generous list of toppings that include tomato chunks, garlic, peppers, mushrooms, pepperoni and sausage.
