Homegrown frozen yogurt favorite dishes out healthful flavors topped with classic cereal or exotic fruit.

by Alison Kramer

In Short
Accented by kiwi-green walls and nouveau-chic furnishings, this tiny yogurt shop attracts a cream-craving, health-conscious crowd. Lines of raving regulars spill onto the street, where they wait patiently for super-tart swirls of non-fat yogurt. Flavors are minimal, including only vanilla and green tea, but toppings abound with sugary selections like Fruity Pebbles and Captain Crunch, or more adult add-ons like blueberries, mangos and watermelon.

A line down the street all the time

by lizziebrhodes

I think that this "tasteful treat" makes everyone blind at what the ingredients could be or the cost. Though it is a delectable afternoon snack, next time you shall go, think twice! In the news a month ago it was said that the manager will not give up the ingredients. Was that because he didn't want people copying them, or was that because there was something in it that no one would want? But that still doesn't stop Pinkberry people from going there. But still, the cost for a small original is meerly the cost of 2 scoops of ice cream from ?Baskin Robbins.

Candy in a Cup!

by justfacts

Pinkberry or PinkScary

It?s Candy in a cup?

One 13-ounce large size has 65 grams of sugar. That?s 16 teaspoons of sugar and 300 calories in just the yogurt.

One 8-ounce medium size has 40 grams of sugar, which equals 10 teaspoons of sugar for 200 calories.

The sugary toppings like white chocolate add even more sugar and fat.

Pinkberry has refused to release the ingredients in their yogurt. Why, if it?s just yogurt?

Go for an icecream. Pinkberry is just junk and they are hiding the truth from you.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: more junk food being sold as heath food.

ONE MORE GATHERING OF NUMB-MINDED TREND-RATS!

by j_james

Yes, yes, yes. Pinkberry's trendy as hell. Its decor falls somewhere between that of an IKEA cafeteria & a Tokyo nightmare & the lines are out the door. I'm most familiar with the establishment on Vermont in Los Feliz but friends in New York say it's a hotspot there as well. The place is packed all day & night. Glassy-eyed hipsters wander out into the street with trays of the stuff. I tried it twice & personally found the "yogurt" to taste like a tarnished silver spoon. But maybe that's just me. Here's something: The yogurt they serve is delivered to the place in powdered form. And there's word it's not fat-free. Their website currently offers a vague assurance of wholesomeness but notes the company is "investigating" recent inquiries into the nature of the product (see "About " at www.pinkberry.c_m). So, if you're after a low calorie, "fat-free" wretched mystery then climb on board - the ship of fools is hoppin' - but be sure to wear your black All-Stars if you want a seat at the cool table. My humble suggestion (for those in the Los Feliz area)... cowboy up fattys & check out the Hollywood Gelato Co. on Hillhurst. Gelato's not fat-free either but it's significantly richer yet healthier than ice cream (due to the making process & the fact it's key ingredient is milk rather than cream) & there's way more than two flavors to choose from. In closing, it is my firm belief that the sooner we shake baseless trends, crucify mediocrity in the parking lots of shopping malls & demand good products the better off we'll be as a race. That said, let's hope Pinkberry shortly packs the powder in its bags & takes the dopey hordes with 'em. - J_James

Comparable yogurt just down the street!

by oliveirt

There's a yogurt place called "Gelato Day" on Melrose in a strip mall just east of Vine. It's so sad - just down the street on larchmont there are lines out the door but they have hardly any business. their yogurt tastes just like pinkberry's except it's cheaper - AND they have an additional flavor, strawberry....if you don't feel like the hassle, just go to this place and support them!

Don't be in any hurry!

by jtiger

Tried this place with my sister last week since she's a foodie and on the know with the up and popping hot eateries. We were so excited to check it out after drooling at the website. The line was quick but all the seats were taken. Larchmont is a great place to walk around and window shop while eating the froyo. (Frozen yogurt)

Basically it tasted like plain yogurt extremely chilled and swirled to make it look pretty. And the toppings I can find in my pantry or in my fridge. Yes, it is a cute spot and I love the pebble flooring but for the price it is not worth it. The fresh fruit choices are ripe and cut up neatly, but other than that, I'd rather go to Cold Stone. There is an amazing frozen yogurt spot on the westside called The Big Chill which is waaayyy better and creamier and still manages to be low-fat. I'm not saying don't try it, but it's not one to be at the top of your "To Do" list.

  • Pros: On a beautiful quaint street with great eateries around, cool vibe and interior
  • Cons: a bit too plain, pricey

Believe the hype, just don't let it go to your head

by lafooddude

Yes! This is one of the bigger stores and offers all the same goodies as the weho one, but with better celeb watching. I'm still totally addicted to fruity pebbles and pretty much any kind of fruit. It's scary. I think I'm gonna head on back for my ::ahem:: second one of the day.

  • Pros: Lots of parking and Pinkberry goodness to go around
  • Cons: The Pomegranite is gone! Oh the humanity!
