Kathy is an excellent colorist!

I went to Kathy after a colorist at another salon dyed my brown hair black. I have extensions so my hair no longer matched, as well as it being too dark for my taste. I arranged a consult with Kathy at Melrose Hair Studio. She told me her thoughts on how to correct my problem and I told her to go for it. Bottom line is that Kathy did an amazing job! My color looks natural, beautifully highlighted and, most importantly, my hair now matches my extensions perfectly. Her price was reasonable for the work that was done. I'm very happy to recommend Kathy to all.

Kathy is amazing

Kathy Tengono has been my hair dresser for years. Kathy is very precise and takes her time on how she does your hair. She does what you want and uses the best product and best quality of product for you. She follows up on all the latest trends and will make you look amazing. She can do anything from a simple dye and cut to a crazy wild one if your in the mood to spice up your hairstyle. I have had her dye my hair every color ive been blond, brunette, added red highlighs blonds every color possible and she has made me look amazing everytime. She also has one of the cutest and spunkiest personalities you develope a great friend while getting your hair done. Kathy is a must to go see. you wont be disapointed.

Don't forget to confirm price before service!

When I called to schedule my appointment for an all-over-color, I was told that my service pricing started at $85.00. I do have long hair, so I know that extra product can increase the cost, so I was prepared for that. However, my bill was $145.00!!

When I asked the reason for the huge price hike, Tita looked like she was searching for reasoning then told me that it was because my hair required extra product. I can't understand how extra product could cost $60.00! I was floored. Then, she had the nerve to say that it took a long time to blow dry my hair. I'm sorry, I didn't think this salon handled pricing like a Fantastic Sam's.

My hair looks pretty good, thank goodness. But for the pricing, I could have had a cut and color at a much nicer, higher end salon. I feel like her pricing was done arbitrarily and I feel totally taken advantage of. As if she just charged me as much as she could get away with. I walked away feeling totally bummed out and used.

The lesson here - ALWAYS confirm the price while you are sitting in the chair. Don't trust over-the-phone pricing. Also, I feel that if I had talked price ahead of time it would have been much less because I wouldn't have let her proceed at that price.

In the future, I'll take my business to a salon with better defined, more ethical pricing.

Isaac - where are you???

Isaac doesn't work here anymore. I am so disappointed. I was really looking forward to getting a hair cut after all these months. I will have to start experimenting again till I find someone as good as Isaac.

The Only Place I Go!

I have been going to Melrose Hair Studio exclusively for about 3 years now and would not go anywhere else. My hair has been almost every color of the rainbow and Tita has never made me look trashy or cheap. They are great with color, I would never trust anyone else. Plus! After all that my hair still looks healthy! Not only can they do more creative cuts and colors, but I have had friends go there and get beautiful blond highlights and long layers. A great place with a personal vibe, and stylists who ACTUALLY LISTEN to what you want. If you are thinking of experimenting with any cut or color GO to Melrose Hair Studio.

Tita is great and she runs a great shop. Being a male, I don't need anything fancy but I know she can do it all.

Great Salon!

Ness is great ! Her advice to make my hair look fuller really works. I waited for about 3 days to see if my hair looked as good as the day I actually got them cut and styled by her , and the good news is , they do.. I dont really have to do much to make them great and I am really happy :)

Isaac= Excelence

Ok, I was reading the reviews on Isaac here and figured, hell I better try him out. I was in about a week ago and was extremly HAppy with the work he did but I thought I would give it a week to see.... ohhh yes.. still great. Isaac has got a Rock n Roll edge with a kind hearted touch. I havnt had so many compliments on my hair since.. well NEVER :) Thank you Isaac for making me look and feel BEAUTIFUL!

go see mister romeo

after an attempt to bleach my own roots, i was left with an orange 'situation' that seriously needed to be remedied (note to self: do not bleachify while inebriated and distracted by boy drama) --------

so after reading rave reviews on citysearch, i decided to give the melrose hair studio a shot. --------

... and i am glad that i did! --------

i had the pleasure of working with mister nick romeo. (and i call it that because he really had his work cut out for him) it was, hands down, the best experience i ever had at a salon. he's super nice and you can tell that he loves what he does. he was incredibly gentle with me (i told him i had a sensitive scalp and he listened to say the least) .... i LOVE my cut and the color. totally got rid of the 'orange mess' --------

and i must say, everyone there was super sweet. i was offered a drink the moment i walked in and there were nothing but smiles. plus, in my opinion, the price was reasonable. and thats always awesome ! --------

Adrina is the best

Ever since I started having my eyebrows threaded instead of waxed, I have never been happier with my brows. Adrina takes her time to get the best possible shape and really listens to you. Not only does she do a fabulous job with eyebrows, she is also very knowledgeable about skin care. She has given me excellent advice that has really helped my skin. I hope to schedule a facial with her soon as I know she will do a fantastic job. Best of all, she is very sweet and always makes her clients feel welcomed. I won't go anywhere else!
