Good Food

by Bharathchaitanya at Citysearch

I went there for a sunday brunch. The place looks nice with a serene environment. I tried all of thier dishes and they tasted good. They have 4 desserts on the buffet menu and all of them were delicious. I know it is located in Beverly Hills, but $25 for a sunday brunch is I think a bit steep.

  • Pros: Good Food, Several Varieties
  • Cons: wee bit expensive

Exceptionally Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!

by rakhisahoo at Citysearch

My husband took me to Chakra (Beverly Hills) to celebrate my Birthday . Trust me they made it as memorable as it could be!!! As we entered, we loved the upscale ambience, not something you find in the Indian restaurants in US. We went for tasting by chef which included a 5 course meal after the chef (Mel Oza) came and talked to us about our likes and dislikes making us feel as special guests of honor. Each course was presented with utmost style and tasted heavenly just like it looked. We being vegetarians, find the usual restaurants serving the same old boring menu which anyway I can cook better at home. But chef Mel's awesome 5 course meal still has us raving about it in every gathering and first place that comes to our mind whenever someone asks for a great Indian restaurant. We were entertained for almost couple of hours with everyone's personal attention and finally were surprised with a sweet little cake to make the whole experience all the more special. If you are looking for a wonderful experience for you b'day, anniversary of valentines day, believe me, don't even think about any other place, Chakra (Beverly Hills)

is the place....and forget the price.... its worth whatever you spend there....all you remember is the wonderful experience once you leave....

P.S.

The person who has given a single rating must be out of his mind...We are through and through desi food lovers and were amazed by the heavenly tasting fusion....

  • Pros: Unique menu unlike the boring limited options in all the usual indian restaurants.
  • Cons: Loved everything !!!

Impressive Hospitality,Creative Dishes

by Critico at Citysearch

We reached there at 9:45 pm,after having a hard time finding the place. They were about to close, but offered to let us come in and said they'll take us.They never rushed us to order, kept checking on us through the course of the meal.We did not order dessert, but they gave us a complimentary dessert from the chef, who made it for us and left, since it was too late..

All in all, good experience,I definitely recommend Paneer Pave there..stay away from the appetizers!

  • Pros: Ambience,Hospitality,Vegetarian options
  • Cons: bad appetizers,overpriced,not spicy

Tasting Menu is Divine

by komal_b at Citysearch

a cousin of mine had a book signing and wine tasting here which spilled over into dinner for the stragglers. She asked the chef to arrange a tasting menu for us (his choice) and I had one of the most memorable meals of my life. The plates came individually, not family style like traditional Indian food, and there were 5 courses, including shrimp, fish and lamb. One person was taking notes and photos of each dish as it arrived and I wish I had too becasue I couldn't tell you the preparations but the flavors were sublime, so many different tastes unfolding on the tongue and all the different wines we had only enhanced the food.

I don't know what the regular food is like but don't go here expecting traditional Indian food. Bring a sense of adventure and your wallet. The meal set us back $80/p.p. (inc. tax+tip; excl. wine) but definitely worth it for a special occasion. Everyone raved about it.

  • Pros: tasting menu, staff, location
  • Cons: parking

Best Indian Food, Romantic, and Fantastic Service

by meiling81 at Citysearch

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday night and found the place relatively quiet. We were greeted and seated right away. The dining area was tastefully decorated in shades of pink and orange. Our server Robert was wonderful and made some excellent recommendations. We started out with some Samosas and Mango Lassis. Amazing!!! For entrees, we ended up ordering the Chicken Masala and this other chicken dish wrapped in puff pastry. The sauces were so delicious and I'm a very picky person! It was by far the best Indian food we ever had! Great place to take a date. I can't wait to go back again!

  • Pros: Food, Decor, Service
  • Cons: I can't think of any!

Good food, decor and service

by butthugger at Citysearch

We went here with our friends, who recommended it after their Valentine's night dinner. We went for their Sunday brunch and the place was totally empty except for one other table of two. Probably the first thing one notices is the waterfall flowing in the front of the room and the semi private cabanas/booths to the left of the entrance. If I had any fears in terms of the emptiness of the place, it was quickly gone because of the absolutely most beautiful and pungent aroma of indian spices and food. Service was quick and attentive, probably because there were only two tables, to refill water or to ask if everything was going well. We ordered plain and garlic naan which arrived hot and soft at our table as if it had just been made, probably was. The buffet of food included the usual tandoori chicken, and a number of curryish types of food with tofu, chicken and lamb as well as a pureed spinache dish with potatoes, shrimp curry, and lentils with a curry sauce. The food definitely was very good, but according to my friends, the food was even better during dinner. There was sparse parking on the street, but there is a parking garage right next door. All in all a solid recommendation!

  • Pros: Good indian food, attentive service, decent prices, empty which is good and bad
  • Cons: Expensive drinks, $10-$12, only open for a few months, sparse street parking
