Solid wings at an unbeatable price / Lots of flavors available

by bohoyuppiecouple at Citysearch

Some people are snobs. I suggest calling ahead for pickup. Fresh made wings take about fifteen minutes minimum. I have only eaten here four times but that has more to do with my wife keeping me in line on my diet and not wanting to drive more than a mile from where I live. The wings are above average and the staff is friendly and accommodating. It is a counter and about five tables so pickup is the way to go. Parking is easy on the side streets.

Avoid!

by Fenchurch at Citysearch

Decided to give it a shot after hearing good things on Citysearch. Went on a Sunday around 6 PM. Waited over an HOUR before our order was ready (two sandwiches and wings). The other people there seemed to have similiar wait times. The food itself was pretty disappointing. I will not be back.

Great Hot Hoagies

by tmancusi at Citysearch

I was craving hoagies and this place was great. Go with the original: Steak and Onions or the Buffalo Chicken sandwich. They people were very nice and the hoagies were innexpensive. I would definitely go back again.

Not the best by any stretch of the imagination

by burritoman at Citysearch

I heard about all the Citysearch hype and was excited to try out both the wings and the sandwiches - I am an armchair expert on both after all. Unfortunately, they don't have the best of either. I've been back a few times since I just moved in down the street - I figured I should give them more than one chance. The sandwiches are just ok - the cheesesteak is unimpressive but the chicken sandwiches show some promise. They are usually swimming in sauce though. I recommend ordering your sandwich dry and getting the sauce on the side. The wings on the other hand, are very disappointing. The traditional buffalo style are the best of their choices but again, are oversauced. This is probably because they cook the wings to a bone-dry consistency. This really shows in the other flavors that don't have sauces. The lemon pepper and the rest are all way too dry and way too salty. Oh, and don't ever order fries from this place. It's $1.75 for a tiny tray of what appear to be rejects from the french fry manufacturer - all bits and pieces. Overall, a very disappointing restaurant especially considering all of the "Best of" prizes they have won. This review is specific to the La Cienega location - who knows, maybe the one on Venice deserves the hype?

  • Pros: Free delivery, easy parking
  • Cons: Mediocre food, slow service

Overrated!!!

by siuvanvan at Citysearch

My friend and I were longing to try the wings and hoagies after reading all the review. We tried the lemon pepper, "hot" buffalo, honey bbq, and garlic parmesan wings; honey mustard and crispy ranch hoagies. The wings were dried and the bread were hard. It was way overrated!!! Bad experience.

Great wings, great hoagies, great name.

by mangraa at Citysearch

I'm a fan of ood comfort food, and hot wings are definitely in that category. I passed by the original HnW location one day, and the name seemed too ood to be true. This was my kind of place. I happened by the La Cienega location a couple of months later and decided to go in and try it out.

I can't express enough how good this place is. The wait time after ordering has been a bit long, however, but it's worth every minute. Their hoagies aren't your run-of-the-mill type; their steak and chicken are shredded and cooked on a griddle, making their sandwiches deliciously warm. Whatever seasonings they're using on the chicken hoagie especially is absolutely divine. Wing flavour choices like lemon pepper, triyaki, and three levels of hot mean they can satisfy almost anybody. French fries, which are quite simple but easy to mess up, are perfect, with a delicious seasoned salt mixture. Their steak hoagie isn't quite my thing, but it's still quite good.

Overall, it's a great place to grab some grub. Grab an LA Weekly located next to the pickup window, settle down for a few minutes, and dig in.

On a side note, this place was recently featured in an episode of Family Guy on Fox. The lead character is debating where he and his coworkers should go to get dinner, stating: "Maybe we should try Hoagies and Wings. Hey, they have hoagies AND wings!"

My kinda hangout.

  • Pros: Just about everything
  • Cons: Long wait time after ordering. New place though, so they're getting the kinks workled out.

Best Wings in LA

by bryskyd at Citysearch

This is by far the best wings place in LA - I have tried and love the lemon pepper wings, the medium, hot, and emergency flavor wings (the emergency/ultra hot is too much for me), but I'd suggest this place to anyone. The hogies are very, very good also. I suggest one of the 2 buffalo chicken hogies. One has blue cheese, another has ranch!

Id suggest picking up there (but call in your order first) instead of delivery. Often its very tough on busy nights to get a delivery in under an hour and a half.

  • Pros: Great taste, great service, great value
  • Cons: parking is tough during the day, small location, always busy
