Great Kosher Beef - whodah thunk it?

by ccbene

Large party of family, all with different food needs kosher-wise. Loved the delmonico special, as did the others who ordered it. Each was cooked to the exact degree of choice. Wonderful sauteed spinach, blase potatoes (both pesto & garlic), and found the onion rings both on my plate and in the table order to be dry/crumbling overall (possibly too much coating & not enough onion), and on my plate, not even warm. Delmonicos were luscious: hugely thick, beautifully aged & seasoned. Am glad I asked for sauce on the side - not needed. Everyone in our party was absolutely delighted otherwise!

  • Pros: food taste, quality of meat & vegetables
  • Cons: no a/c on patio when it's in the 90's! and lousy, lousy onion rings, too noisy for romance

Terribly food, lousy service, expensive for what you get

by mermaid8

I think the concept of a swanky kosher steak house is great, but Prime Grill falls VERY short of the mark of a good restaurant -- especially at the prices they command. We started out with sushi appetizers which were very expensive but lacked in flavor and quality. My friend got the steak with he did not like at all, and I had the halibut, which was OK, but not memorable by any means. Our waiter was inattentive, inexperienced and completely useless in helping us make any decisions. I won't be going back there anytime soon, if ever.

  • Pros: Nice ambiance
  • Cons: Food, service, expensive

Yuck

by tedonthetown

The food is horrible. And I mean horrible. From beginning to end. And we tried alot of dishes. First off kosher food does taste good. I have had many fabulous feasts! They just choose not to care about flavor and contradict themselves with their marketing ploy by serving some questionable combinations on their menu noticed by my jewish and non jewish friends. Steak particularly chewy. In theory it is a very good idea, in reality they couldn't or chose not to pull it off. Service is slow & uninformed. Location ok.

  • Pros: Atmosphere ok
  • Cons: Food, service, pricey

Excellent service, exquisite food, cocktails and dessert.

by rohnniebgood

If I were to go by the scathing reviews I would have never found this hidden oasis. I think some people feel that when they go out to eat, the people that serve and wait on them are beneath them. We're all human and everyone has bad days, it possible that The Prime Grill was having one of those days because when I went my experience was great. I have to say, when I arrived, my part and I were treated like royalty. The staff was very attentive, and we were seated promptly by the lovely hostess named Taylor or Tyler, not quite sure, but anyways, our cocktails were very good, the appetizers were fantastic as well. My appetizer was a chicken dish that came with a wasabi sauce, I could've eaten that all night, that's how good it was. Dinner was excellent too, I was indecisive and went the waiter's recommendation, a tender, juicy porterhouse steak cooked medium rare and I have to say, after biting into that steak, The Prime Grill has got me. What's even more interesting is the fact that I had never dined at a Kosher restaurant before and the manager on duty took the time to explain the Kosher process to me. Overall, it was a great time, my party enjoyed themselves as well and the scenery added to the experience.

  • Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service, Cocktails and Dessert.
  • Cons: Because it's Kosher, they're closed Friday evenings.

Worst dining experience ever

by rene78

Worst dinign experience ever..there was one problem after another. We waited over an hour to be seated even though we had made reservation from a week before. When we were finally seated the waiter informed us that many of their menu selections had finsihed and started giving us a long list of what they did not have...I must say he named half of their menu. To top everything off.. when our food came out, those that had oredered sushi were told that they ran out of rice and needed to make other menu selections. So half of us had our food while the other half had nothing to eat. We ended up sharing our food with each other and most of us left hungry.

  • Pros: known for their short ribs
  • Cons: terrible service

Good food but needs some organization

by lisastitch

Was here for a business dinner on a Thursday. We all enjoyed our food - had really yummy chicken tenders with wasabi guacamole and duck spring rolls to start, and we all had great steaks for the entree. But service was spotty. The server was really nice but the kitchen completely forgot one of our appetizers, which we then cancelled, then it still showed up on our bill. And two of us ordered a salad to split, but it came on one big plate and we had to flag down a busboy to get another plate and split it ourselves. We tried ordering wine, but after spending some time deciding on which bottle, they were out of it, then they were out of the second one we decided on. Maybe after this has been open a while longer it will run smoother.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: can get the same or better food elsewhere with far better service and for the same or less money

Rodeo Drive steakhouse dishes prime meats, Japanese cuisine and organic fare to stars, industry moguls and an upscale kosher crowd.

by Martha Burr

In Short
A spiral copper patina staircase descends into a courtyard oasis, where the sleek bar exudes a loungy vibe. In the elegant white, mustard, and wood-toned dining room, star power players like Madonna and Frank Gehry have been spotted behind the VIP booths' gossamer purple curtains. The certified kosher kitchen and sushi bar feature seasonal Japanese sashii, robata and kushi skewers, and seasonal rolls like white truffle with yuzu-glazed black cod. In-house dry-aged prime steaks are cooked in an 1,800-degree grill.
