Such a cute store with hot shoes!
by LDLBrentwood
Great selection of high end shoes that you can't find everywhere. I found a cute pair of Pucci heels for work and also great ones for going out. I liked the more intimate setting - more personal attention than a department store. Definitely will be going back.
Great shoes at great prices
by jenlapp
I love this store. It is low pressure, but filled with beautiful shoes at prices that beat the competition. Many labels can't even be found anywhere else (as best I know) in LA. The staff is knowledgeable, but not pushy, and very friendly.
- Pros: Reasonable prices on high quality shoes and accessories, peaceful store
Best shoes on the west side

It's difficult to find great shoes in LA that aren't Choos, Louboutins or Manolos and thus on everyone else's feet. That's why this is such a great shop. The interior is beautiful and uncluttered, and the merchandise is great for women with individual style. Many of the designers (hello insanely gorgeous Rickard Shah icon shoes!) can't be found anywhere else (without a transatlantic flight), and there's also a really well-edited selection of tried-and-true labels like Giuseppe Zanotti and Marc Jacobs. Love this place and haven't crossed the 405 for shoes since it opened!
Ridiculous store
by Dianed227
I'm all for a great pair of shoes, but this place is so overpriced and there's virtually nothing on the shelves. It's very strange. The staff is mildly helpful, but they're too busy patting themselves on the back for their free wine and coffee, and seem to know very little about shoes ( I asked to special order a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti shoes I saw elsewhere and the salesperson had no clue what I was talking about). There are MUCH better stores in LA - skip this one.
- Cons: Overpriced, Few options
Cute but nothing special
by amygt31
This is a cute, nicely designed store, but they don't have much merchandise and the stuff they have can be purchased elsewhere for better prices. I guess that's why the place is always empty. It seems more like a vanity project for the owner -a little boutique to pass the time or something.
- Pros: Helpful staff, nice decor

In Short
"Il Primo Passo" translates to "The First Step," and indeed, this luxury shoe and accessories boutique is the perfect place to acknowledge (and feed) an addiction to footwear. The shop's comfy-chic atmosphere and complimentary coffee and wine render fashionistas powerless over exquisite styles from Pucci, Christian Lacroix, Valentina Carrano, and Giuseppe Zanotti. The stunning selection of designer handbags and jewelry allows for further indulgences for true shopaholics.
Hits: The collection is incredibly well-curated, and the small store's sleek layout is appealing.
Misses: Inventory is pricey, and parking on Montana is a challenge.
Best shoe selection in Santa Monica!

Il Primo Passo has the best selection of lines you won't see anywhere else! The decor is amazing and the staff is really helpful and not pushy at all! It is a really inviting boutique....I think the wine and coffee help :) But definitely check it out, you will not be disappointed.
