Disgusted

Corey is wonderful. But my experience with straightening has been awful. The first time I was told by the owner after having it done on a Saturday I could wash it Monday. It was suppose to be 72 hours. So the straightening failed because of inaccurate directions. This was October 2011

On November 2011, they did another straightening (free) over it because I still have half curly/half straight hair. Wasted 3 hours in the salon and it still didn't work. Hair damaged.

January 2012 had the first straightening done again. It was not until I left that I was told the price had increased by $50.00. Terrible customer service. My hair is damaged and dried out. I look like I have a straightened afro. AS much as I love my hairdresser, I realized I was angry also about the color that she said wouldn't last. They can use color to neutralize the straightener. I would rather have no color and come back then pay. It has to be neutralized anyway why make me pay for the color that won't last?

Disgusted.

On a side note they keep deleting this complaint on their facebook page. You think some one would contact me directly. I have been a good client, paid them well and referred clients. Shame on them

I LOVE SANDRA and ALMOST EVERYONE !!!!!!

Sandra I is my stylist at nelson j salon for almost a year. She really takes time on me. My hair always come out very nice. Everyone in the salon is very nice and caring. I strongly recommend Sandra and nelson j salon for your hair. The only one thing nelson needs to improve is the make up lady in the back that I forgot her name. Sandra told me that she is very good and try to introduce me to her but she seems not that friendly. I didn't feel comfortable so I didn't make my eyebrow appointment but I will still go there for my hair. Hope this help.

Damaged Hair

Incredible Service

From the reception desk to the stylists, everyone there is professional and friendly. You won't find anyone with attitude here, just great, smart people who know what they're doing.

I had a Lifebooker Loot for a color gloss, haircut and blowdry ($190 value) that I purchased for $47. I am a full time student and especially in this economy, every penny counts for me so I usually go to places like Fantastic Sam’s in Brentwood ($35) or Freddy & Liana’s in Westwood ($20), which is not bad, but I decided to give myself a treat for once and try some place like Nelson’s.

I went in 2 weeks ago on a Tuesday afternoon and Nelson was my stylist. Everyone there was really nice and kept offering me something to drink. I liked the interior designing of the whole place and it also seemed very clean. I wanted a trim to get rid of some damage/split ends and wanted long layers. I started off with getting my hair washed, then the color gloss treatment which took 30 minutes while I sat under the hair heater (not sure what it’s called), then a blowdry and cut.

On my coupon it stated: “tip is not included, kindly tip 15-20% of the original price ($190) for good service.” Which would be $28-38 just for tip alone. If I saw that before I probably wouldn’t have bought it because I would have to spend at least $75 which is nearly 3 times the amount I spend on my haircuts.

Overall, I had a good experience and my cut is nice. Also, I really liked the color gloss because it did make my hair shinier but I wouldn’t be getting it again (unless it was really cheap) because I don’t really need it. I feel bad not giving a full 5 stars but I took off 2 stars simply because of the high prices. Although I got a good deal I don’t think I would spend the $70 again because it is too much money for me and my $20 haircuts will suffice. I hope this review was helpful.

P.S. There was a lady sitting next to me who said that she’s been coming to Nelson’s for 12 years and they’re the best at hair coloring. So if you’re someone who’s looking for hair coloring and can afford it, give Nelson’s a try.

My hair is good but service is ok

I went to nelson j the first time from reading many great reviews. My hair came out good but what bother me the most is all the staff is on the phone texting and reading magazine. I felt they don't pay attension to their customers. I see staff would be on the phone texting and saying bye to the customer. That is kind of service at nelson j.

I am a man. I got my hair straighten and cut , I was there for about 3 hours. they kept offering me drinks which was very nice. I got good price, good looking hair and that is all I needed.

go there, make your point, you will get it and you should leave happy.

My Hair is Perfect!!!!

I am very crazy for my blond hair. It has to be a perfect tone - no brass. I love what Sara did for me. Product she use is very natural no smell. My hair is so perfect. Love it. Everyone in the salon is very nice and they really care of thier customer. Thank you

Nelson J Salon hairstylists really know what they're doing.

I have been dying my hair blond at Nelson J Salon for almost a year. I always book my appointment with Sara because I LOVE the way my hair turns out. I am supposed to go back to brunette by New Years but I am having such a hard time parting with the blond lol! We'll see what happens but either way Sara at Nelson J Salon will be the one I trust with my hair.

• Pros: I have a busy schedule and they booked me on many a Sunday!
• Cons: Parking can be tough on weekdays.

IF YOU WANT A GREAT HAIR... YOU SHOULD GO TO NELSON

I'm not really big on writing reviews but I took the time to write about NELSON J SALON as I want everybody to know what a wonderful experience I had at this salon. Everybody was nice and very friendly, Nelson even took the time to check my hair and advise his stylist, Ray , what kind of straightening I need. The house straightening was AWESOME. My hair turned out beautiful. Plus it looks so healthy. Ray was so nice and he gave me the best hair cut ever. Everybody was commenting on it. I have never been so happy with my hair.

Believe me girls, and boys, if you want a great hair..you should go to Nelson J Salon.
