User Reviews for Landmark Theatres

Even though the ticket prices are kinda steep, I figure the experience of this theatre is worth an extra buck or two, especially considering the fact that parking is free. Offering a good selection of mainstream and arthouse features, the Landmark makes for a really unique movie experience. Get there early--twice I've arrived only to find that the smaller-than-usual theatres had sold out. Plus, while you wait you can peruse through the Barnes and Noble that is virtually in the lobby or have a drink at the in-theatre bar, and since seats are reserved you don't have to worry about going in early and fighting for a place to sit. Some showings are 21+ and you can bring alcohol in, while others are shown in the "living room" where movie-goers sit on couches, something I regrettably have yet to experience. But the regular chairs are comfy enough, and all the screens offer something above and beyond the typical movie house options. Even the concessions are beyond deluxe--Peet's coffe, gourmet candy, and pizzas at the bar are a few of the options. Bring a sweater, too, it can get a little chilly in there.

Pros: Free parking, great decor, tons of food and drink and pre-movie entertaintment.

Cons: No student discounts!

Boy, were we surprised to see a movie and sit on a living room couch. People even brought blankets! I recommend you use the kiosk and order your tickets there. Remember you will need to also pick your seats as it is "assigned seating". Arrive a few minutes before the movie and have a drink at the bar! Barnes and Noble is next door as well as the Westside Pavillion. Lots to do and see!

I was very excited to try out the new Landmark and maybe my expectations were too high because of all the reviews. So I'm writing this as a favor to you folks out there going for the first time so you can have low expectations and be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed. First the good stuff: Free parking, which means there's no line to get in and out of the garage so you probably save 15 minutes of your life each time you see a movie there instead of the Grove or the Arclight, my two favorite movie haunts. Reserved seating, so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer knowing you've already got a good seat. Not just popcorn and nachos if you go at mealtimes and prefer to eat in the movie. Barnes & Noble next door. And that's about all I liked. We saw "You K*ll Me" which was on screen 3, a little shoebox of a theatre on a long narrow screen. I kept thinking the rest of the screen would drop down when the movie began, but no, that was it. The theater's pitch was incredibly steep with the lower level seats really far below, and I don't know what the point of that was. It only made the stairs too steep. The annoying blue exit lights are bright. If you sit at the edge of any row, the blue safety lights are are all you can see in your peripheral vision. Very distracting. There's leg room but not enough elbow room. The leather seats are packed snugly in. They do recline and are about equal in comfort to the Grove, but not as spacious or comfortable as the Arclight. The decor also left me unimpressed. There's something distinctly late 80s/early 90s about the neon tube lights in screen number 3. I was really hoping I'd love the Landmark because the ticket prices are cheaper than Arclight/Grove on weekends, parking is free, and it's about 5-10 minutes closer to my house. While I might go back again if there's a movie I can't see anywhere else, it will definitely not become my cinema of choice.

Pros: free parking, good sound, food variety

Cons: too-bright exit lights, small screens, tight seats

I went to the wine bar last night after our movie sicko which was brilliant. As soon as we walked to the bar,the beginning of the service was clueless. We were talking to this tall bartender with no personality who seemed clueless and not that friendly.Anyway we were still looking at the wine list ,when another gentleman sharply dressed approached us to make sure if we have any questions or what we are looking forward to drink this evening. To me that was a great touch and that showed that he really cares about the service expeience at the wine bar.He suggested orogeny pinot noir for both of us from sonoma county which was so delicious that we ended up drinking two more glasses each.On conversation we found out that he is the one behind this wine bar and he is the one who pick's the wine for his list.We mentioned to him about the earlier service we received and he was very applogetic and really took care of us.We also noticed he gives the same great service to everyone at the wine bar with the same style.I love when he asked us what our palate is craving today. Finally we asked the bar back his name and she told us nino. You are great and keep up the good work but please hire more people like you who cater to customer's,rather than giving bad attitude's.We will return soon for you and your wines.

Pros: Nino the wine bar manager

Cons: No bar food, tall bartender who needs to learn people skills

Wow first of all i was blown away by the decor at the landmark wine bar and second what a pleasant surprise to have such a unique and high end wine bar inside a movie theatre.I am a designer myself and love beautiful designs but have to say the wine bar was a gorgeous design and above all classy. My husband is a wine snob so we checked the wine list and let me tell you he was pretty impressed with the wines served at the wine bar.Nino who manages the wine bar has put together an impeccable wine list with great wines and doesn't over charge on the wines either. He was humble enough to talk so brilliantly about wine that we eneded up getting a bottle of silveroak alexander valley cab from his wine list at the reasonable price. He is a kind man with astounding knowledge of wines and above all is humble.I have to say me and my husband were so impressed with the wine bar that we will be entertaining lot's of friends here, since we live down the street.Nothing compares to this wine bar and his wine knowledge.Nino you are not only a kind wine guy but the only person who made us feel so comfortable that we are impressed with you and your selection's.See you soon.Cheers.

Pros: Decor,nice wines,prices,wine staff

Cons: none

I have to say that being a los angeles native service here can be tough and challenging. We were driving by pico and saw the sign wine bar outside the landmark building so we thought let's give it a shot.We walked in the wine bar and let me tell it is what i call a wine bar with style. We came across nino who manages the place and has put together an impeccable wine list and much more on the way.He suggested the wine flight which was part of the tasting he was doing today from a winery in napa called veraison.Oh my god all the wines were fabulous. Not only he knows wine but he knows people's palate which is important. The wine bar is cool, hip and above all un discovered. So all you people or wino's check this place out and be amazed with the wine selections put together by nino. This place will be packed soon.

Pros: Decor,wines,Impeccable Service

Cons: Please open more of these

I love wine and indepedent movies so we went to check this place out after hearing so many great reviews from our friends.Although they have only been open for two weeks,i have to say they have there act together. The wine bar is posh and i mean posh, from service to wine.Flawless.We were waited on by Nino Chaddah who is the wine director/general manager of the place. He was so gracious in his suggestions and suggested an awsome oregon pinot(a to z)for me and for my girlfriend paso robles zinfindel(four vines sophsticat). They both were delicious and one of the best wines we had in a long time.We love going to wine events and wine tastings so this was a pleasant surprise.Nino wants to keep the wine list strictly california, oregon, washington and will have a impeccable beer list so watch out.You dont have to come to the movies to come to the wine bar,it is open to the public. We had a great time and were very impressed with the service and wines. He is a bit of old school service, classy and above all cares about his customers. My only complaint is they have no food to go with wine, besides the concession food but Nino is working on cheese plates to be added to the menu soon.Thank you Nino for a great time and your great suggestions. We shall return soon for you and your wines.

Pros: Wines and Nino

Cons: No bar food

I heard about landmark few weeks ago and wanted to check it out.On arrival was greeted by the sweet staff at the box office where we purchased our tickets for the movie. We came an hour early and saw the wine bar and walked in.We were greeted by a sweet gentleman who welcomed us and was talking so passionately about wine that we were mesmerized with his suggestions and the way he descibes wine. The selections are great and the prices are very good.He also mentioned that he will bring the beer list top notch on the list as well. The wine bar is astounding and i mean astounding from glasses to wine,he has hand picked them and it shows. You can go to lot of wine bar's in la but this one will be a big hit.We ended up drinking a bottle of four vines anarchy on his suggestion and it was a beautiful wine.We will bring our friends soon to show off this place. The wine list is one of the best in la for a wine bar and especially in a movie theatre.Wow that is great.WE cannot wait to come back soon for the movie and above all for wine at the wine bar.

Pros: everything but especially wine

Cons: none

I went to landmark to catch Mr Brooks which was fantastic and ended up checking the wine bar.We both are in the wine industry and were astounded by the wine selections at landmark wine bar.Silveroak alexander valley cab for $65 bucks, wow that is a steal. That's the cost you pay at retail stores and restaurants charge $175-$200 bottle for it.we were chatting with the wine master nino who has put a great list withs o reasonable prices that you are tempted to drink it without feeling being overcharged. What i like i like about this place is his attitude towards customers and his great knowledge without being snooty.People like him are hard to kind in a city of so many prentious sommelier's.We would go back here again and again for him and his wine selections.Thank you Nino for a great list and your immense knowledge which is a poetry by itself.

Pros: Wine poet like nino

Cons: none

I attended the Grand Opening last night and I have to say this is the BEST theatre I have ever been to. It's not even like going to the movies, it's an whole experience. You can make an evening out of visiting this place. They have a hip wine bar with all of the top notch stuff and delicious gourmet treats. The theatres themselves are awesome. There are comfortable leather chairs, the highest end sound and digital screens. This is just what we needed on the westside of town. I am so excited I am going back this weekend.

Pros: Awsome food, wine, and seats, all brand new

Cons: none
