super cool- kick back and relax! valet th,fri, sat!

by freak9467

FYI- THE HOURS ON THIS SITE ARE WRONG! R bar opens at 6p M-F and at 7 on Sat., closed on Sundays! The password is cool, man; it's not hard to find and in a bit of a gritty neighborhood, i'm more than happy that R bar wants us to be safe and have a good time! I was so surprised when i walked in off the street; dark wood and great lighting-- it's a great little jewel in Ktown! Go see for yourself and you'll know what i mean. The food is great bar food and the tenders are awesome and fun! A GREAT place for a party and i know they have film shoots and private events here for all you industry peeps. It can be a little dark but i like a dark bar. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and you don't feel like you're in "a scene" at all- if you prefer a real bar, skip Hwood and come here! R is not a club or a meat market and i've met some very cool people here, not to mention a star or two! One of my absolute faves in LA and central to silver lake, echo park, downtown, miracle mile, hwood and fairfax district. I will be a regular and highly recommend to all who know their bar culture!!! Finally!

  • Pros: super cool atmosphere, no pretenses, valet
  • Cons: sometimes too dark, can get loud

dive? cool though.

by TuLipBlosSom

After a LOT of time seeing this place on my way to work, I went. It's not much of a dive, like it has been said to be ., it's crazy packed! and it's got lots of nice lighting. The drinks were overpriced of course but I still ahd fun with my lady friends.

Douche Bar

by hipstersrgay

Hipsters are the new frat boy/ sorority girls. Just the term has been played out 5 years ago and it's become a cookie cutter look to fit cookie cutter personality. It s*cks that I got dragged here and it turned out exactly as douchey as I expected. First there are these matted down hair guys standing in front and then the unexpected surprise, the doorman was a Grade A tough guy short man syndrome Australian doosh bag. Then you go inside and it's a regular douche-fest. Don't get me wrong, I don't discriminate as long as the chick is cute but I could never respect a girl who hangs out in a place like this. Don't expect breakfast you hipster groupie. I recommend this place to all the people who like to pretend to be cool but need to be told how to have a style of their own.

This place is super rad!

This is seriously my favorite bar in Los Angeles. You really do need the password tho, unless you're like super cute. ( I was forced to bribe some hipsters with cigs)

great k-town bar

by cdisip

If I lived closer to R bar, I'd be there every night. This place is the perfect neighborhood bar. It's like Cheers for the hipster set. Stayed way past closing time and they didn't kick us out. everyone was just hanging out like it was someone's living room.

It's alright - over-hyped but whatever.....

by eric2019

It's alright. People have seem to hyped the spot up but I found it alright.. The neighborhood's kinda sketchly. I was a bit nervous to walk the streets - friend told me this was gangsta turf and walking around at 11 pm didn't seem like a good idea in this part of town. Prices a bit high for a dive bar but pretty normal compared to other spots in Hollywood.

  • Pros: Cute bartender, friendly doorman
  • Cons: Thought drinks would be cheaper and don't really like the neighborhood

Ample seating, friendly bartenders and anti-velvet rope policy draw low-key hipsters to this cool K-town speakeasy.

by Andrew Rosenblum

In Short
Under a finely hammered tin ceiling and amid warmly glowing blue and orange lamps, the darkness creates an ideal setting for the baby hipsters and their brethren who recall the glory days of Lucky Seven and Three of Clubs. The multitude of comfortable wooded booths offer plenty of nooks for a secluded drink. A jukebox full of indie rock classics provides the soundtrack, and a bar menu of American fare like burgers and wings helps patrons soak up the alcohol.
