REVIEW FROM CITYSEARCH's 3BUCKBITES DICTATOR
by KRamos
Frozen-section mini cream puffs are no match for this cream puff heaven, crammed among Sawtelle Boulevard's Asian foods. Think: a light and flaky puff pastry baked in-house, then filled upon ordering with fresh, rich, all-natural custard and whipped cream in the flavor of your choice, and dusted with chocolate, powdered sugar, or other tasty toppings. The three flavors of the day rotate between chocolate, vanilla, green tea, strawberry, coffee, and earl grey tea. At only $1.95 for a yummy cream puff the size of your fist, you can justify trying all three flavors to meet the $5 minimum for credit cards.
Cream Puffs

If you don't like really sweet cream puffs, this is the place for you. They have their standard flavors and then their specials. Some of their specials, well, they should stick to their standard ones. I do like their chocolate, but enough with the powdered sugar. I keep telling them that I don't want it and sometimes I get it with, one reason why they don't get 5 stars from me. Hey Owners, what's up with the uniforms? I know that you're trying to be French looking, but come on...
- Pros: Good Cream Puff
- Cons: parking
All they?re puffed up to be

I never liked cream puffs until Beard Papa?s changed my mind. I had their chocolate as well as their traditional vanilla flavors. The cream was the perfect texture, and the pastry puff was deliciously flakey. I am now a cream puff convert!

This is the kind of place that you visit on the way home after dinner, if you still want something sweet - but it can get pretty busy with the cars and the parking lot isn't that big, so be prepared for traffic - the neighborhood is getting more and more popular. In fact, you might want to try one of the many Asian restaurants first, and then get the cream puffs to go.... I get the kind that are filled with a vanilla-like pudding, and they are topped with some powder sugar.
- Pros: cream puffs
- Cons: parking
YUM

A co-worker brought Beard Papa cream puffs in to work one day and now I'm HOOKED. You go into the store, tell them what kind you want (chocolate and vanilla are available every day, and on other specialty flavor rotates in - I've had caramel and coffee, can't wait to try the green tea and pumpkin), and they fill the pastry with the cream right in front of you. It's very fresh (they recommend you eat them immediately and not more than 24 hours after you buy them). And very addicting.
Pipin' hot pastry puff phenomenon heads for the Japanese enclave of Sawtelle Boulevard.

Tucked inside the Sawtelle Place strip mall, a glass storefront leads to a simple, gray-hued interior where servers decked in chef hats dole out sweet treats to eager patrons. Customers watch while sous chefs use a manual device to squirt freshly made cream custard into puff shells topped with sprinkled sugar. Additional confections include cheese cake stick, double chocolate eclair and chocolate fondant.

The cream puffs get sold out every night. That says a lot about the product already. They have the standard vanilla flavor everyday, then there are daily flavors. The strawberry cream puff is to die for. Didn't care too much for the green tea. Their other dessert selections are good too. Though not made fresh everyday like the cream puffs are.
- Pros: strawberry cream puffs, coffee, friendly service
- Cons: parking
Additcting treat!

Go on a Sunday or Monday and try the green tea flavored custard inside - very good! The chocolate-topped are also amazing. The service is always very prompt and friendly. They have a great self-serve cooler that is always filled with icy-cold water that has strawberries and other fruits cut up inside at no charge.
- Pros: Delicious, not heavy dessert
- Cons: Parking
