Went with a group of friends and we ordered several dishes and they were all very good. Favorites were the chicken skewers and potstickers. The drinks were good to. I felt the deserts were bland but who goes to Trader Vics for deserts. Very fun sitting out by the pool.
Pros: Tropical Atmosphere & Food
Cons: Deserts

This is a great spot to hang out with friends or coworkers for drinks in the evening. During the summer its nice to be by the pool side. I almost actually felt like I was in Hawaii. We ordered tons of appetizers, my favorite was the sushi, and tons of drinks too ;). Great Mojitos! The staff was super attentive and friendly. I will be back. And parking is only $5 bucks when validated.
Pros: sushi, staff, mojitos

Last night we went to Trader Vic's for Happy Hour. Our group enjoyed mai tai's, mojitos and champagne- everyone seemed to enjoy their beverage of choice very much. In addition, we sampled sushi, chicken skewers, cobb salad, wonton's and crab cakes. The topper was the desserts that were ordered- the best being the Flowerless Chocolate cake. The atmosphere was super- poolside setting with music at level that still enabled you to have quality conversations. Beautiful peope watching was fun too!

I finally stopped in to see how Trader Vic's Lounge inside the Beverly Hilton was, in comparison to its original restaurant. Although I loved the original restaurant and thought there could never be another like it, I was pleasantly surprised on the atmosphere at the new location. The few decorations in the lounge were similar to that of the original restaurant, but the decor was enhanced by the hotel's outdoor pool, which gave the area a tropical feel. The obvious smaller venue was compensated by the open patio doors to the pool area. Even though I was disappointed in the limited menu offered, I was happy to see some of my favorite appetizers continued to be offered, such as the prawns, sashimi, and dim sum. I was also happy to see that the staff, food and drinks were at their usual best - tasty appetizers, unique drinks, attentive service. I noticed the manager, Chai, was still there - a truly warm and receptive host.... the best. I think this place would be perfect as a retreat from a long grueling day, especially during the summer. I almost felt like I was on vacation and even thought about getting a room at the hotel. It is a rare find in the middle of Beverly Hills to have paradise hidden away inside a hotel. I love this place.

I just was just there, and confirmed with my own eyes that it is now officially closed. The door was open and I could see them tearing things down. They're opening up "Trader Vic's Lounge" by the poolside at the Beverly Hilton, but as of May 1, 2007, Trader Vic's as it has stood for 50+ years is no more, due to the scheduled razing of the building for a future Waldorf Astoria hotel on the corner.
Cons: closed

Disgusting food, weak drinks, overpriced menu, extremely rude service. There wasn't one thing good I could think of when it came to this place. I agree with the person who said to run for the hills to the nearest PF Changs!
Pros: Valet
Cons: Everything

After buzzworthy word of mouth about Trader Vic's, I finally went. The food was below mediocre, the drinks were satisfactory, the service was rude (the busboys were great, however) and the prices were extremely high. I ordered my meat rare, but got medium well, instead. When I placed my order, I was told that it's better well done, but I insisted rare. I guess the customer isn't always right. Save yourself the drive and just go to PF Changs. Or better yet, just go to Panda Express.
Pros: the bathrooms were clean?
Cons: HORRIBLE food, rude service, too pricey

We went all out at Trader Vic's the other night and were really pleased. The drinks are still too strong and the appetizers are a bit generic but once you leave that behind you're in for a suprise. The salads and starters are very well done and the staff is suprisingly knowledgable about wine. The entrees are very good, we ordered out of the Chinese wood fired oven and were floored. The exquisite peach blossom smoked flavor that gets into the filet and lobster is wonderful. The bread, crackers and peanut butter as always is a great departure from the norm. To sum it up...drinks too strong, appetizers ok, bread great, starters wonderful, entrees from the Chinese ovens sublime.
Pros: Great Food, Strong Drinks
Cons: Strong Drinks :P, Pricey

I went to Trader Vic's after hearing all the hype about this popular bar. While I didn't have any bar food, the drinks were fantastic. Great gin and tonics and rum and cokes, on just the right side of strong. Service was really fast and friendly. Prices were average- not too expensive or very cheap for what it is. The interior room is really dark and the decor is clearly old. They need to re-decorate ASAP. Great place for a quick drink.
Pros: Good drinks, service
Cons: Decor
